Rain-X is OK on some plastics, but will ruin many stock Plexiglas screens. It is OK to use on Clearview screens, but even they recommend not using it. I use non-lemon pledge or plexus. non-lemon, because lemon Pledge sometimes attracts bees.

My Progressive policy for full coverage on my 07 RSV is just over $300 a year, went up a tiny bit over the last two.. I called Nation Wide (because they now have an AMA discount) and with the AMA discount they wanted over $1000 a year.. So I'm not complaining about Progressive.

I have an 08 Jeep Wrangler 4 door... My wife loves to ride in it, but hates to drive it. She has a Honda Element EX 4x4,, It is an 03,, I offered to buy her a new car before I bought my Jeep. She said she loved the Element and didn't want a new car. So I offered to buy her a new Element. She said she loved the one she had and didn't want a new one. That's when I knew it was safe to buy my Jeep!! Seriously, if the Element had a better towing capacity I would have bought one too, they are great vehicles if you don't need a ton of room. Even so it has more room than my Jeep. They use the same engine and underbody as the Honda CRV. They have a little more room than a CRV, but are also less aerodynamic, so only get about 22 to 24 mpg.

Varies by state, in Florida you must have a motorcycle endorsement.

While I am not that upset, and I understand your view, the fact is that because Pearl Harbor Remembrance day is designated by federal law it technically is a US holiday, even if it is not a Federally listed day off from work. Much like Martin Luther King day, Patriot day, Arbor day, Women's Equality day and many others. The company I work for doesn't give any of those off. And technically Muslim New Year is not an official US holiday, but Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are.

One of my more or less interesting days when stationed aboard the USS Okinawa LPH-3 was sitting on top of the mast for about four hours to do a 15 minute oil change on an SPS-10 surface search RADAR. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lph3_3.jpg I was an E-5, senior NCO in the RADAR division.. (our one E-6 and one Chief were considered over both divisions, RADAR and COMM) One of the techs under me was assigned to do the oil change but for safety reasons carrying all the stuff up there was a two man job. Everyone else was busy and I tried to never assign a job to someone under me that I wouldn't do myself, so I offered to help. It took us about 15 minutes to get up the mast with all the gear. It was a beautiful sunny day about 75 degrees and the view of San Diego from up there was very nice. We drained the old oil into a container and sealed it. As we finished pouring in the new oil, a gust of wind blew a good sized stream away from the intended fill hole and off toward the flight deck. We didn't think much of it, the flight deck is always getting something spilled on it and cleaned up, so no one would probably even notice. We watched the oil break into smaller and smaller droplets as it fell. About half way down the entire deck crew ran out on deck for a dress whites inspection. The bulk of the oil rain down on their Master Chief, but I'm sure we got most of them. We couldn't actually hear what he was saying when he looked up, but we could tell he wasn't thanking us. We decided to sit there for several hours after we finished, just to enjoy the beautiful weather of course.

You are about a year early on that new decade thing.. the first day of the current calendar system was Jan 1st 0001, the first day of the second decade was Jan 1st 0011, the first day of the current millennium was Jan 1st 2001, and the first day of the second decade of the 21st century will be Jan 1st 2011. The Millennium Edition RSV was the last RSV of the 20th century, not the first of the 21st century. I know that the broadcast networks are making a big fuss about all the this, that and something else for the decade, but that is just promotional hype and they are wrong.

Passing Lights vs No Passing Lights
hig4s replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I installed mine as per the included instructions, with no relay and to the main 12v line for the headlights (so they stay on with both high and low beams) and have not noticed any dimming of the headlight. I also added the spacer, so you do not have to remove them to split the fairing. I think my bike looks much better with them.- 37 replies

Tolnaftate is the active ingredient in Tinactin.. I found that when Tinactin stopped working for me I switched to Lamisil, it's active ingredient is terbinafine hydrochloride if you are looking for a cheaper store brand.

The guys over at the Jeep forum swear by Optima batteries, but they don't make one for motorcycles.

Hey, I'm a member there.. I hardly ever go there though, almost never have any problems, and everything I want to do with my 550 it just does. Although I did find it a pain when Garmin's latest updates required Windows XP minimum and my desktop still has Windows 2000, so I have to update my Zumo through my laptop now..

A new bowling ball, a 10 megapixel camera, and my son got me a Chinese Dragon gremlin bell for my bike. My daughter and son in-law won't be over until later.

Jeff, you could always get a couple of these. www.customdynamics.com/illuminatorz_licence_plates.htm#LED_Tag_Bolts I actually have the Custom Dynamics LED tail light which has LEDs that illuminate the plate and I added two of these in blue also.

Windshield HEIGHT advice

Just do a search for user name BuddyRich and then PM him. -
there are actually 2-stroke engines designs out there now that will meet EPA standards, but because of the general belief that 2-strokes are dirty no one will invest in them.

Help I'm Self taught on computers
hig4s replied to Donde's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
Well, let's see!! On my desktop I still have Windows 2000 pro, on my laptop I have XP, on the wife's desktop is Vista, and sitting on top of my wife's computer is the free upgrade disk for Windows 7 that came with the machine. Haven't gotten around to loading it yet. Anyway on all of them, I have both firefox and IE setup.. I find that most times I use firefox, but there are some sites that just work better with IE. -
There are a quite a few roads in Florida, especially south Florida that are not straight. But flat is pretty much a given.

Any vehicle that is heavier in the rear than the front will try to put the heavy end in front if it looses traction while braking. Any vehicle in a panic stop will have weight shift toward the front. And on the Venture there is no ABS. On two wheel sport or sport touring bikes 90% of the stopping power in the front brake, on cruisers it is 75% to 80%. Now I'm sure it is even less on a trike, but it still has to be substantial just because of the weight shift. I have seen studies on the stopping distance with front only, rear only, and both for several bikes. I have never seen a similar study on trikes. So if it is 80% on a two wheel, the basic force on the front in a hard stop is near 750lbs X the energy from the inertial force of whatever speed you are going. Physics also tells us it is impossible for the front to take less than 50% of the stopping force, even if no front brake is used. So with the added weight of a trike, the front end will have the same amount of force exerted on it when breaking with no front break as a two wheel does when using both. And up to 1.25 times normal when using both. While the front end on these bike might well be designed strong enough to take the extra, it is still a concern I have. And the vehicle I was talking about was my old VW Bug, which on more than one occasion when I lived in Michigan ended up backward in the road when I had to stop quickly in the winter. And 1# best vehicle for traction, both going and stopping, would be a 4x4 like my Jeep Wrangler.

6th gear on any bike over 1000cc is a marketing gimmick, unless it is a full race bike. And none of their 6 gears are an overdrive.

For $599, with free shipping you can get a Zumo 550 on Ebay. I'm actually surprised they are still going for that much with the new 660 out. I actually got mine for $450 back when Best Buy was closing them out. Actually here is a link to the a 660 for $614 with free shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Garmin-zumo-660-Motorcycle-Navigator-010-00727-00_W0QQitemZ350262635726QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGPS_Devices?hash=item518d47acce

Volts are potential, amps are actual current, without current nothing boils.

My biggest concern with any trike (except the Spyder) is that on any vehicle most of the stopping power is the front brake. With all the added weight of a trike, in a panic situation you would be putting way more force than the front tire and entire front end than it was designed for. And all that weight in the back would want to pass the front.. Anyone ever drive a rear engine car on ice? It is just like a dart, the heavy end wants to be in front!!
