  1. You would have to pull the whole Shaft with all Bearings and Gears installed through the Spring loaded angled Gear. That ain't gonna happen without damaging something inside the Tranny. Even if you could manage this, there are Pins on the outer Races of the Bearings, i'm not positive of they will find their Way back to where they belong. But even if this would work out, the Dogs on the Gears still will be worn and without undercutting they will slip out under Load.
  2. The Pinch Bolts on both Fork Yokes allow some Room for Moving during Bolt Down Procedure.
  3. Just for my understanding: Remove Dust Cover Wiper(upper Seal) remove Circlip clean the Area fat and oil free install cleaned Circlip install the cleaned, old Dust Cover back on apply Glue to the Dust Cover in the Area where the new Seals outer Diameter contacs the Dust Cover mount the new Seal in standard Direction put everything back togehter be a happy Camper Is this the Procedure you used ?
  4. It's important to loosen the Axle and all four Pinch Bolts on the upper on lower Fork Yokes during the install of the Brace. Of Course the front Wheel has to be off the Ground during the Mounting. Then install the new Brace but do not tighten down the Bolts on the Brace. When everything is lined up, thighten everything down from Bottom to Top. Axle first, Bolts on the Brace, lower Yoke and upper Yoke.
  5. I'd say it is absolutely necessary !! Because ... You will have a real big and long lasting Grin when you're able to wind that Beast up in 2nd to the Redline. That's worth a Lot of Effort.
  6. How do you do that ? The Seal is a U-Shaped Part and the open Part of the U is facing downwards when mounted in the Fork Tube. Now if you try to glue the new Seal above and onto the old Seal, the only possible Contact Area is the outer Part of the Seal, or only one Post of the "U" ? Or do you glue both flat Areas togehter ?

  8. I'm working on it ... :rotfl::rotfl: Besides ... who asked for more Light when riding to WORK early in the Morning ? Brad could invest in a HID-System, install it and get up half an Hour earlier and ride to Work safer than before. The ROI on this is almost no Time !! That all said, i've got the HID in my Max and don't go to work earlier and safer either, but i could !!!
  9. Brad, you know there's a saying ... Money??? That's just printed Paper !! !! :mo money: :cool17: Now, let that Chrome Pieces go for the next two Months and go for some Safety. These HID Sets aren't that expensive now and its a really impressive Enhancement. Not only while riding at Night, but also during the Day, because the Cagers see you a Lot earlier.
  10. When you think about working on the Electrics, please consider to mount a new, bigger Wire from the Lights-Fuse to a Relay, which is operated by the original Circuit Wires. This will give you a fair Amount of more Light because on the older Bikes, there's too much Contact Resistance and the Wire Diameters aren't that big at all. With a second Relay and a Diode you could Wire the Lights as you want them. Switch between High and Low Beam and operating both Relays on High Beam. Now, on Squidley's new Bike, there's only one Option, Bi-Xenon aka HID
  11. and how did you double check the Outcome ? I guess 'a while' is the Time it takes to Motor to cool down twice ....
  12. I think you have a Typo here. This would be 100-120 hp and 180-190 lb.ft Torque on a adapted Venture Motor.
  13. you can't do that, you need at least 2 Gauges to compare Vacuums
  14. Just bolt the Motor in. The '85 Carbs may leave Room for Improvement open on a 1300cc Engine, but for just getting the Bike on the Road, it will work.
  15. Don, i like the Look of the 2Gen, but i can't see myself buying a Cruiser Style Tourer. I'm much more into the clean Streetfighter Look and if they would bring up a 3Gen similar to the Style of a Wing or a 1Gen, i'd consider buying this Bike. Not so, if it would be a Cruiser Style. But that's just me and probably some other Guys which held up the 1Gen Flag because their personal Style. What i can see is that Yammi will second Hand the Investment in the Vmax Engine(9 Years of Development) and Bike for a new Venture Model. Because we Guys here are starving for a updated Bike, whether one would like the Style or not. The Market is there and they will never give up the big Tourers Market Niche, even when they can't keep up with the Selling of the Wing or the Ultra. But who knows how much Buyers such a high Performance Tourer will attract ? It has to be a V4 and the Vmax is a perfect Base for a new Tourer, just like the '83 1Gen was for the Vmax in '84.
  16. I'm not sure about the Kit you want to install, but if that is something like an Afterburner Kit, i would recommmend not to kill the Ignition Circuit but only the red/white Wire(+12 Volts) which leads to all 4 Coils. I can't say where to find the Origin on your Bike, but you should choose to do it that Way.
  17. If so, this sure would qualify the 3Gen for a complete new Design in the Line of 1Gen/Gold Wing. Maybe the Sketches from the Yammi Patents a Year ago weren't that wrong ....
  18. Squeeze

    Bummer

Lynn, how did the Brakes compared to those on your Bike ?
  19. That's an interesting Shot
  20. And don't forget to mention the Subtitle .. "recorded with a professional Rider on a closed Circuit" :big-grin-emoticon::big-grin-emoticon:
  21. Rick, i sure understood what you plan, but i wrote my Statement for the Guys who might read this in the Future. It's not good to use the Wheels in reverse Direction. It may not be a Problem with our Bikes, but there certainly are Problems ahead when you do that with nowerdays Rims which are as thin as they can cast it. They probably can't hold up the Brake Forces when used the wrong Way.
  22. I dumped Oil often on all the V4 i'm working on. 1Gen and a Lot of Maxxes. Never had a 2Gen in my Shop. Freebird mentioned at his Bike also he has drained Oil out of that Bolt. Maybe Yammi didn't open that Hole enough at some Point in Years. On the other Hand, maybe it's just your Bike? When there is the Copper Washer Seal, there should be Oil coming out.
  23. Only temporary and without any extra Weight or Load, this would work. But you won't have the Speedo connected. No big Deal, but thats the Way it is.
  24. It's a Pressure Sensor which is connected to the #2 Carb or Intake Manifold. It senses the Vacuum and sens a Signal to the CDI. The CDI advances the Spark based on the Sensor Signal.
