First year or so that my wife and I were married her parents gave us their Pontiac Gran Prix. It had a top end clatter and their mechanic told them it was junk. Well, I figured we may as well drive it till the motor goes. It was just a bad lifter actually, should run a long time and we didn't mind the lifter tick. It was free! Sure enough after about 6 months I was picking the wife up from work and it flat out died. Towed it home, went to the salvage yard and bought an engine, borrowed a buddies tripod. 2 friends and I spent most of that Saturday drinking beer and doing the engine swap. Once it was all buttoned up we dribbled some gas in the carb and fired it. It ran about 1 minute and died. We then could get it to fire on a spray bottle of gas but not run a lick. Mark is in the driver seat and calls out, "John, does your gas gauge work?" Nuff said? :rotf:

What does it cost to have your Drivers Licence renewed?

Yup, a darn learners permit is like $65 in NY. Class A with endorsements can run nearly $200. -
Took the very words right from my mouth,,,,,

Don, I bet I speak for all when I say, "Glad you don't have to sell your ride."
-
Our local station promised that if they started to sell more the price would come more in line with their price for E-10 of thesame grade. And the price is coming down. I am using it in everything that gas sits in for extended periods. Pressure washer, generator, and the push lawn mower as well as the string trimmer. And for winter the VR got it as well. During the season gas doesn't sit in my bike long enough to worry about.

I just know I am going to repeat that and it is going to bite my butt.

BigTom, no offense taken. Snow is a 4 letter word. Cold sucks. But the other 7 to 9 months are pretty decent here. Don't hate Watertown, but have little or no use for the place. I'm a rural guy in and out.

The little town at the end of this, Carthage, is the nearest village to me. It is the post office of my mailing address. The Tug Hill region is renowned for its excessive snowfall. One interesting architectural feature related to this phenomenon can be found locally in some hunting camps: supplemental, second-floor entry doors. These are located directly above the ground-level front door, and such apertures are used when so much snow has accumulated that the ground-level door can not be accessed. Snow depths commonly reach five feet (one and a half meters) or more, on the level, and vastly deeper amounts are routine. The location of the region in relation to Lake Ontario often creates ideal conditions for lake effect snow. The Tug Hill town of Montague, in Lewis County owns the single day New York State record of snowfall with 77 inches (6 feet, 5 inches) (almost 2 meters). Another Tug Hill location, Hooker (a hamlet in the town of Montague) holds the state record for annual snowfall. Hooker also received an extraordinary accumulation of snow in the winter of 1976-1977, with a total accumulation of 466.9 inches – approximately 39 feet (almost 12 meters). On February 10, 2007 the National Weather Service reported that the Town of Parish had received 100 inches (more than 2.5 meters) of snow over a seven day span, while the village of Redfield received 141 inches (more than 3.5 meters) of snow over a ten day span of February 3-February 12, 2007. In 1977 a huge blizzard struck the Tug Hill Plateau and dumped 97 inches in the small village of Carthage. The 77 inch snowfall was the official record. Some areas actually got just about 100" in 24 hours during that storm. Some buddies went to camp after work that day to ride sleds (snowmobiles). When they got up in the morning, no riding. Sleds were under the snow. Snow to deep to ride. They had to go out a second story window to get outside. As previously mentioned. I HATE SNOW. :bang head:

I drive over the road, dedicated run of 2 days, twice a week. This is how winter has gone for me so far. Garden tractor tire chains have disappeared. Which doesn't so much matter because it started to snow as I was leaving on one trip. Arrive home to a mess of a driveway, new chains not in yet. Due to holiday no day off between runs. Still snowing. Back out the next morning. Plow guy never showed up while I was gone. Back again Friday night. The driveway clearing fairies did not show. Tire chains now on back order. Driveway continues to fill. To big to shovel. When I put the house in my Mom asked if I wanted to put the house so far off the road. I laughed. Tonight I pick up a set of 4 wheeler chains I will have to cut down to fit my John Deer. If all goes well I should be caught up and cleaned out in about 6 hours tomorrow. If all goes well. We haven't gotten pounded like this in a long time. I was unprepared. I HATE WINTER.

Don't actually need to read the rest. But I will, cuz it'll be a hoot. -
Iceland has nicer weather than Greenland. A bit of a naming mix up perhaps. A night of heavy Viking explorer level drinking and map making. Oops, $41+, well, they'll figure it out soon enough,,,,,,

Freebird, although it may be long in the tooth that 110 is still a heck of a machine. I have a 5 year old LA series JD with a 42" deck and 44" blower. It's no where near the machine the "real" John Deer were. Old school rocks in their case. Maintain it and it will live a long long time.

If I could eliminat3 the time I spend hunting for crap my service times would shorten in a big way. Set something down, go to pick it back up and,,,, -
With just a simple look, or a dry quip, Leonard can get me rolling. My wife and I watch the reruns of the reruns. To me that just shows that funny is funny. (Penny) "Sheldon, does that feel like my elbow?" "Then maybe you should let it go." Later in the episode (Sheldon) "The hero always peeks." Tears in my eyes funny episode after episode. My wife and I have been faithful viewers since the beginning.

I have had it really good until this Christmas. This is the first time ever that both our daughters won't be here to visit. On the bright side everyone is still eating every day, living indoors, and they're healthy and happy. Yup, another decent year in the books. It is my hope that before next Christmas comes around I will be able to put a face and a laugh with some of your names. Until then, I hope that all the good wishes and hope of the season crawls into your back pocket and just won't leave. Merry , merry Christmas folks.

Recently I made a post that wasn't off color in any way. Yet the filter made a change in it. Wish I could remember what it was.

And as we all know, "+1+$" doesn't even belong on the list.

And the first time you hear. "that's an easy fix, you have to ,,,,,," or, "So and so is 45 minutes from where you are. He is on his way with a trailer to get you off the highway." then $12 is going to sound like the bargain of a lifetime. Welcome

OK, I might find that a bit to warm. I am just so darn fussy. Only really happy between 45 and 80 F. What's it like there in July? (your winter, right?)

Glad to hear you came out relatively undamaged. Sorry about the truck. I have always had the highest disdain for the need for lawyers and it' only gotten worse in the years they have been allowed to advertise. (they don't even have to chase the ambulance anymore) That being said you should retain Dewey, Screwem, and Howe, attorneys at law and take away their rented furniture. As was mentioned, if nothing else they will have a judgment that will cause them grief.

That little bike was a screamer. Capitol S. And with very little work and very little money it really rocked. Light switch 2 stroke. Handled OK too. Small, light, pull the front end across a parking lot. When I was a kid a buddy had one. He had a bike, but no car. I had a car and no bike. Yeah, we traded a lot. Another bud had a 350 at about the same time. Near every time we left his house it was pretty much guaranteed that Bruce would pass you on the back wheel and just continue to ride it. Yeah, I would love to ride one again.
