  1. I have tried 2 of the "fill it yourself" K cup adapters with nothing but various levels of failure. Mostly the water seems to just blow a hole in the coffee and pass through that. You guys have used this one, and it works well?
  2. Along with some of the best riding, roads, scenery on Earth Western NC has some of the best white water boating on the planet. Toss in places to go "wheelin'" either in a 4x4 or on an ATV (wheeler in NNY redneck speak) I want to live there some day. And that doesn't even take into account the barbeque joints. I go down every Memorial Day to vacation with our daughter and have a hard time returning to the land of the taxed and home of the fee'd.
  3. Awhile back I noticed that the rubber trim on the right side of my dash (between the instrument cluster and the right speaker) was POOF! It was there when I left the house but gone on my way home. I was running speaker wire a while ago and as I was trying to get the wire for the new RF speaker I felt a gasket dislodged from (I thought) the inner fairing. Great, I will NEVER get it back in place without removing the fairing. So I pulled it out so as to not lose it. Yup, the instrument trim had fallen out while riding that day and lodged in the depths of the fairing. Had I not opted for 4 speakers in the dash it still would be lost. It will get a dab of silicone when I reinstall it.
  4. :rotf: OK, that got me. I had tears running down my face :rotf:It was the "everybody wants to ride it" that was my undoing
  5. 5" Quantity = 2 11" Quantity = 2 14" Quantity = 1 Showed them to the friend who bought my 84,,,,,
  6. Get the heck off the fence. In honesty I haven't ridden the bike with the brace yet. (still need to mend my brake fluid mistake) But everyone's opinion is that it is a vast handling improvement. It is a beautiful piece, it fits perfectly, and it comes with the mounting hardware. Plus, it got here faster than fast and was packaged as if it were the Crown Jewels.
  7. To be honest I would really like to find a rat rod project VR. I bet without the bags, trunk, compressor, yada yada yada it would be a beast. Or I could just get careless with brake fluid again and use the one I have.
  8. Bud, I like the way you think! Does Labbatt still make / sell Labbatt Wildcat? I seem to remember an evening at Murphy's Point Provincial Park that that particular brand of suds made for an interesting out of lawn chair experience,,,
  9. The deterioration seems to have stopped. At least there is no change in the last 24 hours. It was actually a small amount of fluid. Just amazing the damage it did do. I have reconciled myself to the damage, no more "crying over spilled milk". I am going to wait till I get back from my work run on Wednesday to even consider starting the repair. Want to make sure it has actually finished. I still can't find where that vacuum hose goes. It's not the one to the air box, that one is intact. I'll get a buddy to take a peek, sometimes all it takes is a fresh set of eyes.
  10. If there is any good news to this it appears that the damage done is going to be the extent of it. And if so I can repair it. Or at least most of it. In my haste to get things apart and wash it I disconnected a vacuum line and I can't find where the one end is supposed to hook up. If you look in from the brake side of the bike between the V there are 2 "vacum" lines coming up from the crank case, One goes forward to the thermostat(?). THe second is in further and appears to be a "PCV" hose that goes back tween the rear cylinders. Off this large hose here is a smaller line going to the shifter side and the other end of this line is unhooked and I just don't see an obvious place that it connects to. Taking a deep breath and hoping that nothing major has to come off t finds where this goes. I need a real repair manual. Any suggestions? Clymer? Yamaha?
  11. So, that area of the fairing is basically a write off?
  12. Not to mention running down onto and into the lower. Melted / weakened mounting tabs and made a puddle that weakened the plastic to the point it broke in half. I didn't even need a tool to remove it. It literally fell off in my hand once I unhooked the vent. I removed the other side and the chin piece and used simple green and a hose to rinse the interior of the fairing clean. (After removing in minutes hours worth of stereo installation.) If I didn't have dinner with my Mom in an hour I would sit here with a bit of whiskey and a few beers and just feel like poo in general. But life is kinda short for that. A fact in great clarity in light of my 55th being Sunday. So it will be off to dinner with Mom and in the morning I go to work with a container of G-Flex, some fiberglass cloth, perhaps pop rivets and a bit of metal to reinforce from the inside, and the new attitude of a new day. Have to try to fab mounting tabs and hopefully be able to get into the corner of the fairing without removing it. After a few shots and beers this evening.
  13. Last weekend I thought I had my clutch problem fixed. At least till the new slave cylinder gets here. And actually it is. However. Today I go out to the shed for the first time in nearly a week, since I messed with the master cylinder. After bleeding I didn't notice but there was fluid that had dripped and run onto the fairing / dash, down the seam and into the inside of the fairing. Care to see what brake fluid does to your plastic in a week?
  14. Quite funny, in an accurate and true to life sort of way.
  15. That trailer isn't for any 1st Gen. I thought it quite appropriate that a trailer is waiting at a 2nd Gen crossing. Not sure why, but it just seems fitting somehow.
  16. Way cool, can't wait to get them. Brian, good stuff is worth waiting for.
  17. Thanks guys. Guess I will call Buckeye. They have them coming in later this week. Going to buy the entire slave instead of the ring kit. I have already subscribed to the slave replacement thread. I ordered the entire slave from Buckeye. I didn't think to ask them what else I might need. I have to get a seal for the one bolt that goes through the cover, right? Anything else? Thanks in advance folks. Again, $12 is a DEAL for membership here.
  18. I am hoping this is not going to be a :mo money:issue. I seem to be having a hard time finding nuetral. No, I didn't lose it. I remember right where it is. But I'm having a heck of a time to get it in. Seems to skip right over to first or second. Additional information that may be related. The clutch steels and frictions are new, less than 5000 miles and dealer installed. I did have to refill and bleed the clutch. Slave cylinder has been leaking. I may not have the same "pressure" at the clutch handle as I might should have. (still not fully bled?) I am due for an oil change. No where near over due. 3000 miles on full synthetic oil. But I did let 1500 mile oil sit in the bike over the winter. Couldn't make myself drain $10 a quart oil in that short a time.
  19. Willie had weed? Say it ain't so!!!!!! I can only imagine what that show would have been like (Frampton, not Willie) He is a legend in my mind. Every now and then I catch a clip of him and it is always a great time. Someday, maybe I get to see him. The show with Robert Cray, I would have had a stroke.
  20. Can't afford a new bike, and probably never will. (unless daughter can start paying astronomical student loan) But if I could Yamaha wouldn't have to do a lot to get me on one. A "today" stereo, THE V-MAX ENGINE, lots of HID lighting, maybe ABS (but not a deal breaker) Until things change at Yamaha (and in my life), I guess I will just keeping messing with my antique 1st Gen. Just got me spin on filter adapter so it's oil change time. Or hope for a cool deal on a Vaquero. A really mad soon to be ex wife perhaps? With the bike in her name and video of hubbies indiscretion.
  21. And for all these years I just carry an opener on my key chain. If I could find th guy with the first helicopter I would buy the beer and fuel to see it in person. Purple bathing suit and girl at the bar get serious honorable mention. full clip of girl at the bar [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZknV0EGNLQ]Beer cap twist off - Blonde girl gets creative - YouTube[/ame] And to think I assumed she had a belt buckle bottle opener.
  22. Don't feel bad. It's mostly due to the fact the survey, and the spin on the answers, is blatantly pro fracking. The study of wells referred to, done in 1987. Although shale is the primary geology being fracked, it's not the only rock type involved. EPA can't prove crap due to "legal restrictions after the settlement of lawsuits". This is not proof that harm wasn't done. And then this load of poop What do energy companies do with the water used in fracking? The answer provided? "Energy companies use the water in all three ways. When water is injected into a well, 10 to 40 percent of it will resurface within weeks. It may be stored underground in "injection wells," if the geology of the land permits it. Sometimes, it is recycled for further hydro-fracturing attempts. It may also be sold to other companies or municipalities." Let's take a look at that, shall we? 10 to 40 percent of it will resurface within weeks Leaving 60 to 90% in the ground. Pure poison. Period. Water that is forever removed from human use. It may be stored underground in "injection wells," if the geology of the land permits it So, this poisonous concoction is left behind. Sometimes, it is recycled for further hydro-fracturing attempts. Ok, that one at least is positive. How much of the water is reclaimed and reused? Refer to the first point. The rest, pure poison that can never be safely returned to the water table. I've never been a "tree hugger", but this is one process that I'm set against. And so far, the positive remarks were from, oh yeah, people making the money from the process. Can't blame the folks I guess. A person has to earn a living. But, are you doing this where you live? Or are you going to go back home when it's over? Oddly enough, last night on Canadian television "The Nature Of Things" was a piece on the effects of fracking in Canada. It was definitely slanted against fracking. But it was ugly. Can someone please help me put my soap box away? I'm getting down off from it now.
  23. It's a good year to be a white water boater But I am not getting any miles on my bike. When I'm home the bike weather sucks.
  24. O.K. If yer going to go the "rat bike" look, why not try to make it a bit shiny. When we were kids I can't tell you how many of our cars and trucks got the "illustrious shine in hours" from Rustoleum and brushes. Thin it and we made it look O.K. I do like the 4 single pipes and open air filters. But, I am a redneck from way back.
  25. I used to drive up Rt 220 in PA for work. Once a week. Nothing but a mess. Roads tore to hell, the land tore to hell, streams a mess, HEAVY HEAVY vehicles everywhere all the time. Locals complaining of tainted water. Locals complaining of shaking homes and sad quality of life. Folks with leases making money though. A small number of folks, but it does get made. And the fluids that are injected are a chemical cocktail that you wouldn't want on your land. Based on ethylene glycol. But that doesn't hurt a thing. Just ask them and they will assure you. It's safe. (then ask if it can be dumped at their house)
