  1. I always wave, unless the hand is busy. Always have and always will. Not sure just why actually now that I think on it. The "I got yer back" thing is part of it. Other than that, riders are a small community. Real riders even smaller. And hell, a little friendly attitude never hurts. "I wish that an influential person would write a viral piece coming out against waving." I'm no activist, but I would get on a quick against that one. Some things just need an opposing view. Do you realize that you actually want to start a campaign against being friendly?
  2. Mine went dry after a long time and a bunch of miles from a very slow leak (I assume) in the slave. It was a long, long process to get it full and bled. When you think you have been at it to long, keep bleeding.
  3. Stuff is in the tour pack, ready to rock. Just have to hook up with Macarl or bongobob once there. I'm leaving Thursday for Ohio to surprise friends and family, get some chicken wings at QS+L in Austintown, then on to McMenemies for a barley pop with Jeff the DJ. Head for Pioneer as soon as my eyes stop bleeding Friday morning. Time to finish packing.
  4. :sign **** happens:
  5. Time for a thread hijack. (I don't feel terrible cuz the question has already been answered.) To wire my accessory block and a chinese alarm unit to a relay what I am thinking is right is this. To have the alarm "on" when the key is off and shut off alarm /arm accessory panel when key is on I should, wire 86 to ground battery power to 30 87 to the accessory block 87a to the alarm and the accessory power lead (switched when key comes on) to 85 Is this right? Or is it smoke?

    Bongobobny

Happy Birthday! (I am resisting the temptation to call ya an old fart)
  7. All I did today was take trash to the dump. I told the dogs, "You can't go to the dump today". They heard "go to the dump today" and got into the car. Took back the deposits. Oh yeah, snuck in a 100 mile ride with 2 friends. Not a bad Saturday.
  8. How the heck have I missed a grease fitting install on the speed. (and I thought I was paying attention) I'm aware that speedo lubrication is needed or they croak. (the m.p.h. gauge, not the swim suit) But there is a grease fitting install possible?
  9. Marcarl, is the tractor used regularly?
  10. The mechanic had to be thinking of another fluid. Now that being said, Stabil won't stop phase separation of ethanol if it is used. For long term storage I add a concoction of double Stabil, seafoam, and Marvel Mystery Oil. Run it till it is for sure in the carbs. And winter storage gas is always E free.
  11. saddlebum, will you be crossing in western NY or the 1000 Islands?
  12. Orlin, congrats on the new bike. Those 2nd Gens do look nice. And now you can truthfully say, "The older I get, the faster I used to be."
  13. No one told me I have to clean my bike to come to events? It's 27 years old. The dust is what holds it together!
  14. Never once thought prudish. To much humor here to think that. Along with rib poking and trash talking and all that good stuff. I'm jut glad that it appears I won't be a black sheep if (when) I have a shot and a beer. My family immigrated here about 1950 and brought with them some middle European home making skills. Part of the family that settled in the Rochester area had pear trees and plum trees. Much of their crop ended up in clear liquid form. "Brandy" they called it. Roughly 160 proof, pretty smooth for the strength. The WNY meeting I will have to be a good citizen. I do have to ride to the motel. When I get to one where I get to camp and if I should come up missing please see to it that I made it all the way into my tent. I did ask a friend and his wife to come with us as guests. Should they be able to come I will update my guest list as soon as I know. Tim rides my first VR.
  15. Here's mine
  16. Oh thank God. I was afraid I might be the only one here with habits such as this. Everyone always seems so upstanding.
  17. Make sure the kill switch is in run before mentioning to buddies that your kike won't start. Make sure that you are actually pressing the start button. You see, I , had this friend who ran into both of these problems during his years riding.
  18. I've still got some work to do to my fairing. I have GFlex and cloth left so that is what I plan to use to make mounting tabs and such. Right now I don't have the "lowers" on. But, it is time to ride more and work on it less. Summer is fading and winter is long.
  19. I got real stuck in my ways on this after I once tried G-Flex. It is the wonder fix for almost any material to almost any other material. Strong, flexible, and idiot proof. (I am living proof of part 3)
  20. Thoughts and prayers to Dan and family.
  21. How 'bout instead of a SS run you come over to WNY and show off the new bars?
  22. So, let me get this straight. No center stand on a 2nd Gen? As if you folk didn't have enough to contend with as it is.
  23. Last firmware and map update turned my Nuvi into a nifty paper weight.
  24. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  25. I have used the synthetic with good results. Low noise, no clutch problems, etc. When my current stash of Lucas synthetic is gone I will go back to Rotella. Will have to check Sam's club for sure. Decent oil and as long as it gets changed as it should it can't hurt. I'm no expert but synthetic or old school oil either one an engine will run a long long time as long as it gets changed as it should. Can't get myself to change the oil in my car. At $16.99 for an oil change there is no reason to do it myself. After a less than stellar experience at the local Monroe Muffler and a carefully worded response to a follow up questionnaire I seem to be on a roll for coupons from them.
