I've had two. Both great bikes...but if you're over 5'8", you'll miss the room. Enjoy the ride, whatever the ride is!!

Sorry I missed your doings. I'd planned to come down for at least a day, but found out my dad has cancer on Wed. and had to go with him to an appointment on Friday. I really wanted to meet you all. Maybe next time.

So many options, so little time, but you might want to to up to hit 160 off of 65. Going through Kirbybville is a killer. Lived there for years you can't go wrong with anything except 76. TRAFFIC!!!!!!!!! If you have a whole day go south on 65 to 7 in Harrison Ar. South on 7 to Jasper for a break. East on 74 to 123. South back to 7 and home. Probably the most scenic ride in the midwest.

I've never owned a 1st gen, but it appears those that have them love'em. I put 87K on a GW1200 before I got the GW1500. I loved it! The only reason I sold it was I started hearing an intermittent noise in the stator area. Knowing they had a way of going south, sold it and bought the 1500. By now a stator would have been replaced in any bike your looking at, unless its ultra-low miles.

...and pray for the family of the biker! We just had one of our officers that was hit on his personal ride. The driver has crossed three lanes of traffic coming out of McDonalds in a rural part of the state. Lights, Lights, Lights, BE VERY VISIBLE AND ASSUME THEY STILL DON'T SEE YOU!

Shenandoah Valley and Skyline Drive, Virginia

Nice pics and a nice area. I was out in Quantico for 11 weeks for training a couple of years ago. Spent every weekend either there, or the Smithsonian museums, or the battlefields. Loved my time there. Thanks for bringing back good memories. -

GAS mileage question
1sttenor replied to knifeeven's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
That's my experience as well. Once you go over 55 the MPGs really drop. Since I only ride it for enjoyment, I rarely ride over 55-60. -
Question??? What kind of terrain are you guys in when you get over 11K? I typically ride like your grandma, but only got 6-8K out of mine? The terrain in my area is hilly and twisty though.

New to the forum and bike. Lot's of questions.
1sttenor replied to similost's topic in General Tech Talk
I will be making a hitch and installing it first thing for our trailer. I also know a driver backrest is high on the list, along with arm rests for the wife, racks for the tops of the bags, and other such things.. There are a couple of different hitches, I have the Venturedad hitch...very easy to install. Takes about 15 mins. http://www.venturedad.com/ I have the Utopia backrest and like it alot. What brand tires do most people like on this bike? I normally run Metz tires. Is AIS removal highly recommended? What other performance clues can you give me? I know fork oil change is up there.. Yamaha always seemed to go light on things like that... I'm not familiar with the rear suspension, but is there a spring that is recommended to be changed? Most DO NOT use Metz here. The folks seem split on Avons and Dunlop Elite 3s, I use the latter. AIS most people just plug, especially under the warranty is out. There are articles here on how to do that. On the rear shock, many seem to fail under warranty, mine hasn't (20K), but under warranty, I'm inclined to let Yamaha take care of it. Any tips hints and clues are greatly appreciated and heeded... HOWDY ALL! Hope you don't get tired of me! -
Is it just me?
