  1. Looks like you've got a good start on tracking down the problem. I'm unfamiliar with the air pressure ratings on the Shenco tires. I run Metzlers and always run 40 in the front and 42-44 in the rear. Increasing the front tire pressure may help. Another couple of things to consider are the front forks and the fork brace. Many, including myself, have gone to a heavier fork brace. Check the fork springs, verify that the amount and weight of the oil in the forks are equal and that the amount of air is equal. Does your bike have an onboard air system? If the forks are linked for the air, are both free and clear? Just a couple of thoughts. Dave
  2. Kevin- Looks like you did a great job. I lost my headlight the last day at the international rally last summer. After some quick checking, I couldn't find the problem, so, I rode home (daylight hours) without and fixed it at home. I had the parts and decided to do the upgrade to ATC fuses and when I went to remove the glass fuse for the headlight, one side of the fuse holder fell off.....found the problem. It has a been a great upgrade. Dave

  5. If it's and '86 you only need remove the saddlebag lids to access the seat bolts. Dave
  6. The mp3 player you have may not be compatible with iTunes as a management tool. If the player came with software, you may have to use it. Another approach: Open the icon "My Computer" and review the drives listed, now connect your mp3 player and see if a new drive appears. This will let you know what letter your player is when connected. It may be as simple as dragging and dropping the music on to your player, or copying to your player. Dave

  8. I know for the most part snow is an unwelcome sight and dreaded. But....It's the 16th of January and we could still see our lawn, not spots or parts but the entire lawn, flower beds etc... For those of us who live in the desert areas, snow is a necessity in order to have water during the rest of the year, so, today the snow came. I had to put the bikes in their winter spots in the garage so I could fit both cars in the garage and I actually used the snow blower (I started it in Nov. to make sure it was running and ready) But for a short time, I welcome the snow to the Intermountain region and look forward to the spring. 9. Andy I'm your same height and on my '86 I have installed the wider/taller Clearview shield with a vent. I can't say much about a lower windshield, other than I would suspect that you wife will experience more head buffeting. Even with the taller windshield, I can sit up enough to see over the top in the rain. Not that comfortable, but I can. The wider windshield definately helps reduce the wind and cold on the hands. I can feel a difference as to whether my hands are closer to the end of the grips or closer to the control end. The vent makes a huge difference. Just opening it a little (when it's cold) gets rid of the air vortex that usually develops behind the windshield and pulls air down towards the pillion. Opening full is nice in the hot weather too. 24. Have a great trip!!! This summer, Alan (from Australia) picked up his '84 and rode 8000 miles plus during the summer. We bought the bike for him but didn't know the reliability of the bike other than the maint. we did on it. He had a great summer! Given what you say about the condition of your bike, I wouldn't anticipate an issue with your trip. These are great bikes. Of course with any machine, there can always be something that comes up. That's when having the VR.org help list with you is an important part of your travel pack. This group and their knowledge is a fantastic asset and willingness to help is amazing. I look forward to your trip report and pictures from the road! Dave
  25. 109 First try.
