  1. Yes and No. What do you mean by platform? Porch? How big of an area are you talking about?
  2. One Caution - the ABS glue does set up after only a short time (30-60 seconds) and then cures after that.
  3. We had a similar issue with an '05 at our trip to St. George in mid-June. One thought was that the reservoir was overfilled and with the heat and possible water absorption, the fluid was expanding and partially releasing the clutch. When we opened the reservoir, the fluid was almost black!! We removed the fluid in the reservoir, and bled the line to the slave cylinder until all the fluid in the line was clear and clean. No more slippage. This step is the cheapest and easiest to accomplish. It's a good place to start. Dave
  4. I had the same issue with my '86 when I got it in 2005. I was fortunate enough to have the trunk pieces that broke out. I used ABS glue to reinsert the missing pieces and seal the cracks that had occurred. Next I took and coated the entire inside of the backrest area with ABS glue and worked a piece of fiberglass cloth into the glue and coated it again with ABS glue. Final step was to put a final coat of ABS glue and added a piece of clear plastic to the area. I redrilled the necessary holes to reattach the mirror and put everything back together. It has held up well since then. Good luck on your repair!! Dave
  5. At least it's the middle finger. They can put it in a splint and you can go around letting everyone know what you think about not being able to ride....LOL Hope you get better soon and back on the bike. Dave
  6. Nick- I can understand your question. Don Nelson is the big cheese and the originator of the site. While you are coming into the group when he is asking for a modest fee to help cover the costs of running and maintaining the VR.org website, many of us have had the privilege of participating during the years that all of this was provided to us for free at Don's expense. Is there a direct correlation of pay $12.00 and get this or that, no. Hang around a little bit and you'll find out that it's the best money you'll ever spend. Great advise on how to maintain, fix or customize your bike, money saved at the repair shop... always, but mostly it is worth it for the great people you'll meet and get to know, the maintenance days, the helping hands, the rallies, rides and the daily interaction on the website. For the forfeiture of one Coke a month, it's a deal I can't pass up. Dave
  7. my computer doesn't like the link..
  8. Great News Annie!! Until 2013...we'll be missing you. Dave
  9. Just finished a trip with a group. One guy was there on a 04 Venture Trike (great looking) and was having an issue with the clutch slipping. We thought the same thing....reservoir may be too full or plugged. Opened it up and it was so dirty, black. We changed the fluid in the reservoir and then bled it through to the slave cylinder and then he no longer had a hard clutch lever pull and it seemed to stop slipping. He still had to pull his camp trailer back home. As Pegasus1300 explained it. Being that dirty led him to believe it hadn't been changed in a long while. Being the hygroscopic, the fluid had water in it and when it got hot, the water boiled and built pressure in the line and started to disengage the clutch plates. Dave
  10. Lowered the tire pressure to 20# and shifted some of the weight forward. 75-80 mph down I-15 to St. George without a single issue. Thanks guys!!!!
  11. When is Cody 3??
  12. Two quick questions for those who trailer often. I have an '86 VR and Piggybacker trailer. 1 - What air pressure to you run in the trailer tires? 2 - Getting some sway when I hit 75, below that is good. Any adjustments I can make? Dave
  13. Order a set of Morgan CarbTune. They work great and after two time syncing the carbs they will have paid for themselves. Dave
  14. I just did mine for the same reason and it isn't a bad job. Two suggestions: 1 - Pay close attention to where the spacer (washer) goes in the sequence. Mine didn't drop so I looked for it. If in the wrong place, you'll have issues with the brake caliper. 2 - Have some Honda Moly60 (or equiv.) available to grease the wheel splines with. OK, Three 3- Now is a great time to change your rear brake pads. Dave
  15. Congrats on the new ride!! Always good to keep the rubber side down. Dave & Jan
  16. That's it....installing the cargo area backwards creates lift like an airplane wing, making the trailer lighter and using less fuel to pull....
  17. You can go to the user profile and add a map (and other things) to your signature. google "egosoft maps" and create your map Dave
  18. You go back and pick up the pieces.... reassemble back at home :rotf: Boy I'm glad Jan doesn't read this forum!
  19. Now it's going to bug me..... Thanks guys!
  20. We have a trip to St. George coming up end of next week and I decided I was going to have to take the trailer with. I've had the Piggybacker for a few years and used it on occasion but always thought it looked too plain, so.....thought I'd make it fit the bike: http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Piggybacker/SANY0014.jpg
  21. Mike- Your bike looks great. Reminds me of the '84 we did for Alan (Quickstep from Australia). We had the logos put on by a pin stripper rather than the OEM. http://s470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Alans%2084%20Rebuild/ Dave
  22. If all of the original equipment is there.... the driver's helmet attaches to a 5-pin din plug that comes from the amplifier (under the radio/left fairing) up and is usually attached to the left side of the false tank cover. The passenger headset plugs into a box that is mounted to the lower front left side of the trunk. The box has a second plug (7-pin din I think) where a controller for the passenger also attaches. There is also a 5-pin din plug that runs to the amplifier under the passenger seat. Dave
  23. The intercom is intergrated into the audio system. If you have the radio and amplifier, the intercom works with them. You have to have headsets in order for it to work and it's voice activated. The volume is controller by the main knob and the sensitivity is adjusted by the slider on the outside of the knob. Dave
  24. It will help if you're looking for the correct tire....140/90-16 71H You'll find those a lot of places...Dennis Kirk, Rocky Mtn ATV, etc... Good luck! Dave
  25. Welcome to the site Dean!! I have a first Gen Venture but I'm pretty sure that there would be a separate intercom setting. Someone else will chime in and let you know how to get it set up. If you had to use a CB channel, your private conversation wouldn't be very private....usually the intercom is voice activated. Good luck! Dave
