  1. Mike, I know it's been a year but we still haven't seen photos of this finished project.
  2. Where's Motto Guzzi?
  3. I have experienced the same thing with my car windshield mount. My Garmin windshield suction cup mount will just "drop off" every once in a while. I just couldn't ever see using a windshield mount on a clattering motorcycle windshield. I went with the RAM system for the handlebars. Love it. No issues. Thomas
  4. Mike, you'd better be careful. If this turns out to be something really cool, then I'm gonna want one. And maybe several others out here as well. You'll be busy for months. Do you only need one, or are you making a pair of them? Thomas
  5. Thanks Snaggletooth for bringing this up. I remember reading about it a couple of years ago and thought "oh, I should do that..." Never did. Until now. Around $5.00 Canadian and, honest to god, 15 mins of my time and she's good as new. Maybe even better. You really need to look at this as $5.00 now to save substantially more in damage from a fall. Thomas
  6. Do you speak from experience Carl? So that's the special seasoning in your pepperettes. Thomas
  7. I have the same setup. I LOVE my Buddy Rich cable.
  8. Message him. He's a member here. Thomas
  9. My first reaction was "I would not trust the safety and stability of my $4000 bike to a $129.00 piece of steel." I did not know that about towing a shaft drive. See?? That's why I'm a member here. The knowledge base is VAST! Thomas
  10. How do you know that for sure? I'm curious. Thomas
  11. Why not a First Gen? How does the bear afford a new 2nd Gen? Just askin'.
  12. :rotf: WAIT! Maybe not so funny when my tank holds 20.8L of fuel.
  13. I took 'er out of the garage today. First time outside since Oct 2010. I started 'er up and I started getting dizzy with excitement. I can't wait! I reviewed the back of my scoot and decided that the brake light and marker light configuration is good the way it is. I'm gonna pass on the trunk rail. Thomas
  14. Doh! Sorry about that everyone. I guess this tech stuff can be trickier than I thought. You're right Freebird, I was logged into my account and that's why it didn't work. Live and learn, live and learn. Thanks for the answer folks. I'm gonna unwrap my baby today and see if I can use it. Can't wait to hear her start up. I'm starting to get the itch. Thomas
  15. I found this accent bar for the trunk on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-VENTURE-XVZ13D-1300-ROYALE-TRUNK-ACCENT-BAR-/170613579057?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b95c9d31 I don't know if it will fit my '85. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thomas
  16. That looks fantastic! It's an attractive addition to the VR. I would love if you could attach a sound file so we could hear it now. Thomas
  17. I'm thinkin' it may be time to move on. I am seriously considering selling my 1985 VR (no class system, no cb) and moving into a V-Star (would I still be welcome here?) I would really like to see where everyone thinks I should set the asking price. I don't know everything, and I think the collective may know more than me. (ya think?) I will upload photos when I unwrap it from winter storage this week. In the meantime, I have attached a photo of my '85 in front of Carl's '85 from 2009 Ride-In. Thanks for your input. Thomas
  18. Here's something that might interest you. 1986 Royale for $2000. Obviously needs some work, but if your handy, why not. http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Yamaha/1300+ROYAL+VENTURE/LONDON/Ontario/5_10141503_ON20071122100019686/?ms=motorcycles_atvs Thomas
  19. I can't make it this year. Another fine example of how work gets in the way of fun! Thomas
  20. Dave If you have the chance to see old Quebec City then you MUST do it. The air of nostalgia throughout the city will take your breath away. This is the only walled city in North America. Small cafes, wine, great food, fantastic views are all just the beginning in Quebec City. Where else can you have a Guinness draft in a 400 yr old ammunition bunker? If you are stopping for just a day then I highly recommend you ride into the town of Levis. That is right across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City and there is a ferry that runs back and forth constantly. The view (photo opps) from the ferry are truly amazing and you won't be disappointed. The Chateau Frontenac looms large on the hillside and you can see the different levels (ages) of the city from the river. If pricing is a concern then you can find cheaper places to see and eat. But if you want an experience that you will remember for a lifetime for a little more money, Quebec City has what you are looking for. Thomas
  21. I really like that tool set too. Wanna adopt a live-in brother? LOLOL Doesn't take much, eh?
  22. Here's what London looks like...
  23. That's what I would be doing! You paid good, hard earned money for that ride. You respected the Yamaha name enough to buy it, they should respect your purchase enough to fix it or replace it. Jumping up and down and talking very loudly in a showroom works wonders for getting results. You need to work the phone too. Dial that number on the back of the owners manual and raise hell!
  24. Congrats....um, just one thing tho.... Get busy with pics first.
  25. I think I'll hold out until this comes to market. It looks like fun. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsbagR3iCBk]YouTube - The Dodge Tomahawk Quad/Motorcycle[HD].wmv[/ame] Thomas
