  1. I was planning some additions to my 1st Gen this winter but I haven't been able to find "head rests" yet. :rotf: Thomas
  2. Just as I suspected. They look really good. Better than stock. Thomas
  3. Not that I'm in the market for replacements. But I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased replacement discs from China on Ebay? If yes, were you happy with the quality? They look nice and would probably be a nice look on the Venture. Thomas
  4. I LOVE THAT! Imagine not having to step outside while clearing the snow! Fantastic! I want one too!
  5. Here's a snapshot of Woodstock ON forecast. Nothing for next weekend here.
  6. Hi Guys, I did a search for Toronto International Motorcycle Show and the dates are February 21 - 23, 2014 - NEW DATES. Is this the one we're talkin about? Thomas
  7. So now I am curious since I ride a 1985 Venture Royale. Why did you remove all that has to do with the radio? And, what, if anything, did you replace it with? Thomas
  8. So, I bought an android tablet and I am asked if I want to instal the Tapatalk app to view this forum. I read the reviews and they don't look too favourable. So, I ask "does anyone here use the app and how do you like/hate it? Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thomas
  9. Yup. Did mine last season. Carl's right. Watch the spring when you take the switch apart. I found that I had great results by disassembling the switch and sanding the contacts with 600 grit paper. I found that one contact was lower than the other so I trimmed the base so the contact was flush with the surface. Reassembled and "voila"....all good. I'd say a two beer job when approached at a moderate pace. Thomas
  10. Welcome Back Rooster! Still have the driving lamps you sold me. It will be good to see you again. Not fer nuthin but you're not exactly back yet. Reinyrooster Trial Member Just sayin' Thomas
  11. May 6, 2013 at 5:58 AM 3 killed in 2 motorcycle crashes in state Posted by Nick Provenza QUILCENE (AP) — Three people were killed in two motorcycle crashes over the weekend on Highway 101 in Western Washington. The Washington State Patrol says two motorcycles collided head-on Sunday afternoon on a curve on the highway south of Quilcene. Both riders were ejected and 26-year-old Nicholas H. Montague of Lacey died at the scene. The other rider, 45-year-old Rodney T. Sutherland of Port Hadlock, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Thomas
  12. So, can we make this a "sticky" in a forum so it is easily found for future reference? I LOVE this idea. Thomas
  13. Last year (before Jevco was bought by [intact]) i paid $620. Just got my bill from [intact] and it's $828.00 I'm gonna look into some options I have seen here.
  14. Well, I just received my insurance renewal from [intact] insurance and it was up by almost $200 for a 1 year policy on my 1985 Venture Royale. I should have gotten into the insurance business. They never lose. I refuse to pay this increase so my question to fellow Ontarians is obvious. Who covers you and are they reasonable? I am interested in all options. Thanks Everyone. Thomas
  15. I am always interested in anything that promotes the superior model of Ventures. I'll take a couple when the design is finalized. Thomas
  16. You know you're Canadian when you get all steamed up over what the government has done.....but wait for someone else to say something about it.
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WAYNE!
  18. Love the look. Love the Garmin integrated. I compared this to the 2013 Royal Star Venture S on the Yamaha website and the bottom line in the comparison chart kinda surprised me. The 2013 Royal Star Venture S has a 5 year limited warranty and the 2013 V Star 1300 Deluxe has a 1 year limited warranty. Why would that be? Thomas
  19. This time of year I watch the weather looking for a nice day to plan a trip on the 1st Gen. And week after week I am consistently disappointed with the weather but more importantly, the timing of the weather. I am noticing (and I'm sure many of you have as well) that the weather during the week will have one or two days of sunshine while the weekend is always wet and miserable. I propose we reset the week. We need to pause the week so that the weather comes into alignment with the days of the week and that will give us sunny weekends. So here's what we do. Wednesday October 31 will be the start of the reset. The next day will be Wednesday November 01, and the third day will be Wednesday November 02. Then we carry on as usual. We have now reset the week. Now the days that used to be sunny in the middle of the week are now the weekend and we can ALL appreciate more sunny days on the weekends. If this doesn't work, I'm moving to Texas. They always seem to have sunny weekends. Thomas
  20. Windshield decal?? Any chance of this happening? Thomas
  21. Welcome back from the Dark Side Ray! Looks like when we're all together, you'll be beside Wayne and I'll be beside Carl. I'm looking forward to seeing your Venture up close.
  22. Wayne, If you're riding down to pick up the cb, let me know what day. I may be able to tag along with you. Thomas
  23. I have the stock brake light as well as a light bar across the back of my trunk rack. My primary concern is always to be seen as stopping. No questions. I also have a pair of Custom Dynamics 5" flashing LEDs. When brakes are applied they flash 5 times and then go solid. After installing them I made a point to show them to and ask several Niagara Regional police officers as well as OPP if the set was in anyway against the law. Every officer told me that the setup was fine since I had the stock brake light holding solid when the brakes were applied. I have never had a problem with the law regarding this setup and I feel good knowing that cagers behind me know without a doubt that I am stopping. Thomas
