  1. 85 VR. Went for ride a few weeks ago. Probably the last really warm day we had here in Ontario. Got home, parked it in the garage and next morning there was a pool of antifreeze on the floor. I know it needs to be looked at and fixed (neither have been done yet) my question is, should I get this done before I tuck her in for the winter or can it wait until the spring and weather is nicer to work on it in my un-insulated garage? Thomas
  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB!!!! Have a GREAT day! Thomas
  3. Happy Birthday to You Carl!! I wouldn't say you're old but were you around when the Dead Sea was only sick? Have A Great Day!! Thomas
  4. Bob, Sally and I are thinking of you and Becky in this time of loss. Thomas
  5. We won't be making it out this week. Sally has a rally for "Stop The Trades Tax" and I have been volunteered to attend as well. Thomas
  6. Thanks Steve. I didn't take into consideration that there is that gap between the filter and adapter. Thomas
  7. Finally got around to prepping my new adapter for the oil change this weekend. Bought Napa Gold 1522 filter. I noticed that some of the holes in the filter are blocked by the adapter. Is this ok? Thomas
  8. I can only dream of $234.00/yr for bike insurance here in Canada. My 85 VR costs me $1006.00 for this year alone. No collision, $1,000,000 liability. (which i think is a joke since if I crash into a car...who's more likely to die?) Riding season is MAYBE six months. I believe I'm in the wrong business...should have gotten into insurance. They never lose money. Thomas
  9. On sale for $8.29. Regular $12.89 until May 31, 2014. Thomas
  10. If you use a Canadian nickel, you won't be losing as much money as if you used a US nickel. I think our nickel is worth about 4 US cents right now. But, we have a beaver. LOL
  11. Thanks to everyone who replied. If the load causes the battery to drop that much, does this confirm the idea of a battery problem or is it possible that there is something else causing this load? Thomas
  12. Checked voltage at posts and I got a reading of 12.07v. Drops to 5.6v while cranking. Is this normal? Thomas
  13. Started the bike after charging the battery...started fine and warmed up good. Turned on all lights..high beams, driving lights, signals...all good. Pulled front brake handle and watched the charging needle drop to the bottom. Let go and it bounced right back. Did this a couple of times and the same thing happened. So, shut the bike off and waited for 15 mins...no go. Would not turn over without a charger.... Any ideas? Thomas
  14. If I were you, I would buy one without the bolt and do the bolt mod found here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48342&highlight=kickstand+bolt. Old bolts have been known to let go at the most inopportune times. Thomas
  15. I would really be interested in a Canadian perspective on this discussion. I live in Ontario. I'm sore from the beating by insurance companies every year. Thomas
  16. When I did a search for purolator L25288 cross reference, I get a MOBIL M1-107, not the m1-206. You may have the wrong filter. Thomas
  17. OK. I'm sold. Just purchased one. Thanks for the comments folks. Thomas
  18. That does look great and I've been thinking about moving in this direction. What filters will fit this add-on? Thomas
  19. Uhhh, Yeah! See my signature below. 1985 VR here! As far as I can see, still a first Gen! Thomas
  20. Did a search on "lifetime engine warranty" for Goldwing. This is what I came up with. http://powersports.honda.com/protectionplan/motorcycle-threeyear.aspx Maybe the dealer is confident enough to extend that to lifetime. Thomas
  21. And for our Canadian members there's a lift on sale at Canadian Tire. $64.99 That's 50% off! http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-motorcycle-jack-1500-lbs-0091015p.html#.Ux3KHoVaWog Thomas
  22. I was planning some additions to my 1st Gen this winter but I haven't been able to find "head rests" yet. :rotf: Thomas
  23. Just as I suspected. They look really good. Better than stock. Thomas
  24. Not that I'm in the market for replacements. But I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased replacement discs from China on Ebay? If yes, were you happy with the quality? They look nice and would probably be a nice look on the Venture. Thomas
