    RK woes

Well, if you want to remove them, it's not a big deal, I can tell ya how. (I did mine) Just let me know if you want to. But like Squid says, if it don't matter, leave it alone. Steve
  2. Sorry, no battleships allowed. New target: Your and your bike, or your bike in front of a big roadside FISH! After all, I am a fisherman. Steve
  3. OK, here it is, my bike in front of a tank, well OK, two tanks. Yeah I know, you all want to see my pretty mug here too, but the guard at the gate said no way. I told him why I wanted to get in, you know, so someone leaving work would take my pic with the bike, but everything is too complicated for the government. So I dodged traffic on the highway to get this shot. Anyways, this is the Badger Ammunition Plant, just north of Sauk City, Wi., where I live. It is in the process of being torn down. It provided ammo for WW2, Korea, and some of Nam. Steve
  4. Now, that is a cast of characters:rotf::whistling: Lookin good guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steve
  5. It's the one bike that I want to come my way, but it better be pretty soon, I'm not getting any younger. Steve
  6. I'm glad that you had a great day Gary. I know that time heals all wounds but that is a very big wound. We had that kinda day here today too. Steve
  7. That's amazing, you got a cop whining about a license plate light. these guys need to figure out why we pay them. Steve
  8. I thought that I understood you to say that one of the wheels was pointed in one direction or the other, but looking at your drawing, it looks as though they are parallel to each other, just not in line, a gap as you say. This may be a bit simplistic but the tires are not the same width. I just went out to the garage and measured the tires with a caliper. On my 86VR, Front: 4.875, Rear: 5.475,-------so that would leave a gap of .300 on each side. On my 05 RSTD, Front: 5.400, Rear: 6.375,-------so that would leave a gap of .487 on each side. So, if the gap on each side is the same, then no problem, right? Or am I completely missing the point? Steve
  9. Somtimes I'm just blown away by what people spend their money on. Now, you'd have to have way too much money to buy that golf bag carrier. I've got a better deal than that--I ride my bike to the course and my dad brings his extra set of clubs. Steve
  10. Hey, I know what you mean. Glad that you got out. That first ride of the year is a great thing, huh? After work on Wed. I went for a short ride in a T SHIRT! Wow, did that feel great. Now I'm back to reality, just lit the wood stove. Steve
  11. Giving each other rates that we pay is completely irrelevant. Insurance rates are some of the most individualized items on the market. You have to consider age, marital status, driving history, credit rating, state of residence, city of residence, type of residence, prior claim history, on and on. Many companies do not want to cover motorcycles, hence the outrageous rates. Even specialized companies like Progressive will vary the rates 'wildly' from state to state. For instance, they are extremely difficult to beat in Ohio, but they are also based here. So for one person to say 'I pay this much', has nothing to do with what someone else might pay. All we can really do is shop around with the major carriers and see what our individual rates are. Unfortunately for many, it has nothing to do with what anyone else pays. Jeez, I just about posted a very similar thing. I have been watching threads to do with motorcyle ins here and on the venturers for several years, and the one thing that I noticed is that it's who you are, where you live and all of the other things that Mcbrush mentioned. The rates from the same company that I have might be several hundred dollars more somewhere else. After reading some of these, I'm just glad that I'm here. But, I wanted to thank Mcbrush for the tip about Markel ins. They are just east of me and have better rates, same coverage as progressive, who I'm with now. I guess that it's just a matter of which bunch of thugs that you want to give your money to. Thanks, Steve
  12. It's always so sad to loose a little one. You and your family are in my thoughts. Steve
  13. check out the barons risers. Steve
  14. I have a fork brace on my 86 that looks similar to the one you guys are buying. Can't imagine buying one with a stamped insignia on it. But that's not here or there. You are doing all of the guys a great service Condor! I'm just about to hook up a bridgeport mill in my garage and I'll make whatever I feel like once it's hooked up. So, what's with the threats? I'm sure that I'll be meeting SB at a meet and eat sometime. Ya right-------- Good job, Condor. Steve
  15. I have a thread started about lowering the front of a RSTD and these extensions will raise the handlebars 1 1/2", so I could slide the tubes up 1" Should work out just right. And use the same cables. Plus they're on sale for $59. Steve
  16. Congrats grandpa! Steve
  17. Good question, I'm not the original owner, but I do have his phone# and I'll give him a call. That would be great if it was already done! Thanks, Steve
  18. I've read all of the threads and don't see anything about lowering the front of a 05 RSTD. (everthing has to do with the VR) Not the same set up. The air valve is very close to the handlebars and I don't see how I could slide the tubes up without handlebar risers. I know that barons sells a kit, but too much $ for me. Has anyone done this? If so, do you have any pics of the process? Steve
  19. My $s on the kill switch too. Cmon Moose, you should take up ice fishing. Steve
  20. Man, that's a beauty. It looks like it just rolled off of the showroom floor. Have fun, Steve
  21. Hey Don, I'll pick up a patch and bell on June 7th Steve
  22. If you're looking through one large hole from one end to the other, you don't need to worry about any small holes. Besides that, there is no place for any more holes. You're there. Steve
  23. Well, tell you what Big Mike, if you can look through and see the other side, the baffles have been drilled out. You can forget about the first several stages, you are at the last stage. Enjoy them, you will love the sound. Steve
  24. If you don't mind taking the carbs off again, I'd check the needles to see if they have a build up of white crusty stuff on the surfaces that make contact with the ID of the seat housing, which causes them to not slide up and down freely. If you do, you can sand them off with some 1500 grit wet paper. Steve
  25. Cool, but maybe sometime in the future when I can't handle a real two wheeled motorcycle, I'd consider one-----------BUT that time is WAY off in the future. I never rule anything out. Life's too short. Steve
