  1. I always find it interesting which threads get the most replys, but in my opinion, you did exactly what I would have done. Way to go man, Steve
  2. Thanks Danob, We'll watch the thread and see where it goes. Steve
  3. If one of you guys bought a lowering kit for an 05 RSTD and didn't like it, let me know. I'm interested in dropping mine down, front and back. Steve
  4. I'd start with contact cleaner. Good Luck, Steve
  5. Sounds brutal to me. Tood bad you had to go through all of that. Sorry you missed all the riding. Better days are ahead. Steve
  6. Well, I'm all for meeting new folks also, so I'll let this ride for a bit. Hey Sarge, I thought Boo got your trailer from Janesville Wi? Maybe you were talking about the other one huh? Anyways, I'll talk with Todd in about an hour and hash this out. I'm really in no hurry, in fact thought about driving down to their meet and eat next weekend, but 880 miles is a stretch. Right now, I'm open to all options. I'd for sure drive a ways south to pick up the bike and meet some of you outlaws. Thanks for all of your thoughts on the subject. Steve
  7. Hey TX, Glad to hear you say that you were able to keep in under control. Any body damage by it comming off the rim? Don't want to make them gods mad:no-no-no: Steve
  8. Just try and set it up and see how it works out. Boo, I don't get it, what does this mean? I don't want to put a whole lot of people out just to get this here. Just thought I'd see if anybody was passin by, headin my way. Steve
  9. Hey Jeff, I really don't mind taking a bus down and riding back, but I'd hate to beat up that little 250 like that. Actually, I did already call the bike hauler and they are not cheap. I have a company that already delivers here at work and a price that can't be beat, I was just looking for possibly safer mode of transport. And I might add, it would make it a lot easier on good old 86er:080402gudl_prv: Steve
  10. I'm getting a small dual purpose bike from 86er and have a truck lined up to ship it here, and my only concern is the truckers loading and unloading at several different terminals between there and here. the price is fine, its' just getting it here in one piece that has me concerened. So, my question is: Is anyone from the north vacationing down south with their bikes/trailer and have room to bring this back up here? Or anyone just plain heading up this way? Thought I'd check before I arrange the shipping. Thanks, Steve
  11. Hard to not comment on this thread. I really can't imagine how he finds the time or the knowhow to do what he does, so we can be here. And he does it really well to boot! I belong to a number of forums, and he does have a good point in that the members do make the forum what it is. But he is the glue that holds it all together. Thanks, Don. Steve
  12. Hey Dan, You don't need to tell me about it. Had my 05 RSTD out this aft. Tomorrow for sure! But, there is still lots of sand/salt on the roads. Very slippery stuff, watch out. Man, does it feel good! Steve
  13. For a big bike, I'd buy a Electra Glide Classic, and for my second bike, I'd buy a Truimph Bonneville. Steve
  14. You can order a can on line for just over $. What I'd be interested in knowing how well it really does in the fog / drizzle. If it worked, I'd buy it for sure. Always did like seeing. Steve
  15. Hey Jerry, I'd like to see a pic of the studded air boxes. Sounds like it would look great. Steve
  16. I'll comment on Yamaha's clear coat. I have an xs650 that I'm redoing and have removed all of the clearcoat very easily. Any good paint stripper will work. Just let it sit, then scrub it off. (Of course, the parts your'e working on should NOT be on the bike) Now, if you want it really shiny: Take whatever case you have stripped to the kitchen sink, and with the faucet just barely running, sand the case down with 360 grit wet paper, then move on to 600, then on to 1500. I found the key to this operation is the running water. (doesn't have to be much) After you dry it off, take 000 steel wool with aluminum polish and you will end up with a beautiful finish. If this sounds like a lot of work, then skip it and look at the ugly half on, half off, yellowed finish. Or, just remove the finish and leave it. Steve
  17. I remember the same thread. But don't remember if it was here or over at venturers.org. Tried doing a search with no results. I have mine taped shut from the inside, but I think that the smoked acrilic would be a very good way to go. I do know that I'd never want to open them. Steve
  18. Wow, Bill, that is one sweet ride. What have you all done to it? or, is the list too extensive? And the shop / lift ? Very nice for sure. Steve
  19. Hey Squeeze, Thanks for the site and maps. Very cool indeed. How could you not go there. Man, I can only imagine riding in the alps. Hope you go. Steve
  20. I have the summer view of that one. Always wondered where exactly it was. Steve
  21. Honda puts a motor on a couch, and Yamaha is supposed to wake up? I don't get it. Steve
  22. I was comming to the maintanence day anyways, but now I'm comming for the spanking:rotf: Steve
  23. Hey Orrin, Glad to see you back on a bike again. How does the shoulder feel? I'm ready--We'll do it on a nice day though. I'm gonna plug the AIS too. The last two things to do. hahaha, Is there ever a LAST thing to do? Steve
  24. we're gonna be wanting pics of that, don't ya know By the way, congrats on the new ride! You'll love it!!! Steve
  25. Hey Gary, did the same thing myself on sat., not very far, roads still ful of salt, but it sure felt good. As far as the whine goes, I"m hard of hearing, so I'm not worried about hearing the whine. We'll be riding soon enough. Steve
