What's 5th ? No , really take 2nd to 55 and 3rd to 80 if you want to feel the power these bikes have. I traded an 01 Nomad on mine. These are V4's and want to be wound out. You won't hurt it as the rev limiter kicks in way early (6500) and the bike is still pulling hard. You can tell cause the bike starts missin and the oil light flashes. If its still under 1k and new, break it in first.

Yea, Your Zumo is set to low on its output. Mine is about the same as the radio. I have the XM antenna and its the same . Set your Zumo correctly and there should be very little difference between AUX and FM on the bike.

BuddyRich replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just listen to the wind in you ears.... My has the whine but I don't even notice it. Guess its just something that bothers some and not others. Try riding one with the whine to see if it bothers you that bad. -

My really dumb engine question
BuddyRich replied to wes0778's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I don't even get outta 3rd sometimes until 75. Wind it out. Check your carb sync. -
Can't here in Tx but When I was in CA I did all the time. There's an art to it I think. You can't go too fast and you can't go to slow. Had a few that even tried to cut me off. Just wait till the timing is right and scoot right on by them. And yes it was in moving traffic. But I never did it over about 35 or 40. If its moving that fast then its really not a bad traffic jam.

Birds are a pain. Hit several on the bike & the truck. Latest was a vulture about a week ago in the truck. He was on the road and took off but was flying in the direction we were going. Hit the brakes just as the radio antenna slapped him in the butt. And I wondered where the bird ka ka came from on that side...

There is more than one instance in which the manual was wrong due to a language barrier or just being written incorrectly. The clearance spec if for an unloaded position and unless you specify TDC on the firing stroke you may begin to load up a valve in just a couple of degrees. So pointing up is totally unloaded and I stick to that.

BuddyRich replied to GeorgeS's topic in Watering Hole
We just wore out an 03 GMC Serria 1500. Bought it new. Has 148k on it now. Its been the the shop 5 times. Had to have the radiator, water pump replaced at 95k , in for steering problem at 15k. Tranny is flaky in the rain. Dash cluster went out at 60k . It was showing we were doing 40 when the GPS showed 80. There were a coupl of other minor problems but don't remember them all. Never had any problem with the brakes though.Never less than a thousand every time it went to the shop -

Wind Deflector ?
BuddyRich replied to RonL's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I am in the process of making replacement deflectors guys. Mine are cracked on the top and its just a matter of time before they split. I can make them in various colors. If yours need replacing or you just want to change the color PM me and let me know what you want. I am going to charge $35 a pair plus shipping. If that works for you let me know. -
I would call in the morning and say " Since you don't have any qualified mechanics working for you, put the bike outside and don't touch it. I'll be over shortly to pick it up and I'll be in touch with Yamaha about your service departments inability to read a service manual, Or maybe just the inability to READ period."

The pulsating can be caused by putting the rotors back on wrong. Remove the wheel and then remove one of the rotors. Rotate it one or 2 bolts and then retighten it. BUT the trick is to re torque it in 3 steps. That's how I fixed mine. I got lucky and it was the side I tried first.

Nascar drivers were gettin too many tickets so they had to raise the speed limit... But they always slow down for the right turns

I have a 05 Dodge Dakota with the 3.7. It will pull 4k of boat but struggles on some longer hills. Mileage is around 17. Won't do that again. Just bought an 08 F150 Super Crew with the 4.6 and its getting 17 also. I would much rather have the full size PU any day of the week if the mileage is going to be about the same.

As long as you know the way home you'll be OK.

Night riding on the interstates -- what's the big deal?
BuddyRich replied to Dave77459's topic in Watering Hole
I like riding at night. With a full moon its even better. Interstate or side road. They all got critters you got to watch for. Some of them are on 2 legs... -
Leave at 6am and you'll be there by 10am. It'll be plenty light enough at 5 am if you wanted to leave then.

Nice Chevelle Those were some fast cars. Best friend had an Black SS with the 396 and a 4.11 positraction and we were all 16 at the time. Surprised we didn't get hurt with one.

Congratulations. A 2nd gen would not have cost you as much though.
