  1. After 43 years at Texas Instruments and then Raytheon I have officially retired. Had my right knee replaced in January and getting my left one done April 22. Once I get healed up plan on putting a lot of miles on my 2018 SVTC that has been sitting for several months. Also plan on getting back into fishing again. Yoohoo!!!!
  2. Here is where to get the fun stuff . https://www.firequest.com/exotic-shotgun-ammo.html
  3. From what I have read it has to be GPX file format and will only except 5 waypoints. Put the gpx files on a flash drive in a folder call GPX. Then plug flashdrive into USB in right front strorage conmpartment. I have not tried it yet.

    Biker Clause

Twas the night before Christmas and out in the garage Two Bikes were sitting, a V Twin montage. But all of the streets they were covered in snow Not a safe place to ride, not a spot on the road. The tenders were plugged in and humming away Keeping batteries charged on that cold winter day. The chrome was all shiny, the paint bright and clean But the weather outside it was nasty and mean. Then out in the yard I heard such a sound But how can that be there was no one around. Then out in the driveway was a thunderous roar The unmistakable sound of a V Twin big bore. The driver was plump dressed in leather and black A long beard of white and a big leather sack. He went to the house and walked right thru the door Leaving gifts by the tree and gifts on the floor. A helmet and shield and a new set of lights To make the ride safe on those warm summer nights. A new set of pipes just to make the bike sing Chrome license plate cover a bit of new bling. Then back to his bagger old Biker Clause ran He fired it up and lifted the stand. And I heard him exclaim as he roared out of site Safe riding to all and to all a good night. Merry Christmas my friends Safe riding in 2019

  7. I bought my 2018 SVTC in June. Did have heat on my left thigh at first. After about 1500 miles it started going away. Bought the Yamaha lower deflectors that match the upper deflectors on the fairing and that helped. Have over 4000 miles on bike and heat issue is pretty much unnoticeable now. Usually keep the lower vents closed now and use the wind deflectors to adjust air flow. The Rox 2" Risers make a huge difference on the handlebars and work with the cables fine. I drilled out the baffles and it sounds better. Not load but I can hear the exhaust when riding now especially when I twist the throttle. When you test rode did you adjust the windshield up and down? And did you try both Tour and Sport modes. The throttle response is different depending on which mode you are using. I love my SVTC and have not regretted buying it one bit.
  8. A lot of folks me included have drilled out the baffle ends on the exhaust. Just a little bit of increase in volume on idle but you can actually hear the exhaust when accelerating. All is needed is a 1 1/2" hole saw with a 12" extension and I used a shop vac to suck out the ends after cutting them. The right side baffle is solid and the left side has a whole in it. I like it like this.
  9. I took a picture of my number with my cell phone. I carry my cell phone with me everywhere.
  10. I absolutely think buying my SVTC was the best decision for me. I had a 2007 RSV (for long rides and trips) and a 2005 Harley Fatboy Screaming Eagle (for just everyday cruising). Loved them both but was ready to trade up on the Venture. I traded my RSV in on the SVTC and planned to keep the Harley. After 3 weeks of riding the SVTC I sold the Harley to my neighbor (he has been trying to buy it from me) cause I knew this is the only one I want to ride. The handling with low center of gravity is great and the power is smooth in tour mode and a beast in sport mode. It is very comfortable for me. Rode from North TX to Rochester MN and did 776 miles the first day with no problem and could have done more. Spent 2 days riding thru MS and AR Ozarks on the way back and bike handled like a dream for me. I do have the heat issue on the left side (some do not) but put the lower vents on right before the trip and it took care of that problem. Also added highway pegs and the ROX risers before the trip and they made it better. Not really anything I need to add, except maybe a backrest to make it more comfortable on trips. My RSV I had Rick Butler do his magic to the seats but for me I honestly don't need it for the SVTC. Unfortunately right after I got back from my trip I fractured my left ankle and am stuck in a boot while it heals. Currently have almost 4k miles on it (has set for almost 6 weeks) and would have a whole lot more if I could ride. It's eating me up to look at it everyday and not being able to jump on it and go. As soon as the boot comes off I will be eating up the asphalt.
  11. Hey Freebird, I believe you meant to put this in Star Venture Tech Talk '18 - Present section.
  12. Took a trip from TX to MN in July. Super slab going up and averaged 42 to 46 using 91 octane. Coming back thru MO and AR Ozark Mountains averaged 48 using 91 octane (most was no ethanol)
  13. Congrats and enjoy. The more I ride my SVTC the more I like it. Heading out Thursday morning on a 5 day trip from North Texas to Rochester MN and back to do the Hero's Ride up there on Saturday. First good trip on it and really looking forward to it.
  14. Got my new SVTC a week ago Friday. last Friday called SiriusXM and asked about a free trial like I got in my new Ford pickup. They gave me a free 3 month trial on the bike no questions asked. Took about 20 minutes on the phone with them and it works great. Used it all weekend. Good thing is I have a trip from TX to Rochester MN and back in July so will have Sirius to use on the trip plus music on my phone.
  15. I do not have a new Venture yet, working on it but I had the same issue with the Sync3 in my new Ford truck. The fix for it was once I connected to the truck with Bluetooth go to settings in the Iphone then Bluetooth and then select the circle with the i to the right of the Bluetooth connection and turn on show notifications. With Iphone you have to do it for each Bluetooth connection, it defaults notifications off. Then my text worked with the trucks Sync3.
