  1. A friend called with a problem with his 99 RSV. He just replaced the battery and went for a ride, parked all okay. Then went for another ride today and when he stopped and tried to restart the bike it would not crank over, and the trip odometers reset to zero. Waited 10 minutes and it started. The battery measured 12.08 volts. tried to start it and it cranked over very slow and did not start. Voltage dropped to approx. 6 volts and then started clicking. After charging it for a bit it started. Voltage measure 12.08, when we reved it up it would only get to 12.4 We cleaned the ground wire on the engine. SO now what to check ? Manual says to check the stator by checking ohms. Where do you check this ? Do you have to pull the cover ? Where does the wire go to check the ends of the leads ? If this is okay what next bad rectifier ? Can you check this to make sure it is working without replacing it ?Anything else to check would be appreciated ?? Brad
  2. This year was easy as we were to busy showelling every other day to worry about the bike. Brad
  3. When I bought my bike it had WWW 404's on it (looked pretty new but I did not know how long they were one.) I got 12,000 miles on that tire and it had a split in the groove. That tire was not worn out, but was replaced. The next 404 WWW I have 8,000 miles and it is almost worn out. BRad
  4. Mine acts up once in a while as well. I shut the CB off and back on and it normally gets it working again. I did the grease trick but it did not help me. BRad
  5. If you use progressive springs you do not need the air. When I fixed my leking fork seals I put in progressive springs and then had an air leak after, but did not even worry where it came from. BRad
  6. It Could be dirt in the carbs as well. Had similar problem before and they were just dirty Funny how everything worked before your fixed it. BRad
  7. :rotf:Hey I thought Don wanted a white one so don't out bid him> Brad
  8. Yup thats what he ment HAHA So you coming in Neil ? It would be nice to meet you, after all these years. ! BRad
  9. I am sure it will look good. If you plan long days of riding you should look at the backrest. As far as floorboards are concerned, if it is what I was thinking I have seen some of the rubber separating from the chrome floorboards. Not exactly sure these are what you were refering but look into this one before you purchase, in case your not satisfied. Brad
  10. I have had the photo grey (or what ever it is called now) lenses change when you go out and change back when you come in. That way I do not have to switch them out. Glad it worked for you Brad
  11. HAHA I was thinking the same thing BRad
  12. Mee too. Congratulations to you both Brad
  13. I believe the lady is the owner. She and the whole group are top notch. Their service is up there with the best I have ever come across. Purchased my XL two years ago and towed it to Colorado, and Georgia. Also tow it with my SUV when I needed a little extra room. (The dog Ben gets the back of the SUV and the junk goes in the Piggybacker. Had little to no problems with mine. (licese plate brkt broke, but out trailer plates are the same size as a cars) BRad
  14. I remember the choke thing being different Brad. Your gold one was the twist throttle. Randy, what does the dash look like. I remember seeing a picture of the dash being opposite to my 86. My 86 had the clock buttons at the bottom but I saw a photo of the buttons on the top. Just curious if you push down was common with the different dashs. Brad
  15. And you never let us know you were in the area ? Brad
  16. Actually you only have to remove the right saddlebag to get the shock off. I would suggest taking the levelling links of and remove the part that the lower portion of the shock bolts too and levelling links bolt too. Clean this part up and regrease it. There is four sets of needle brgs in there and they can get dry. Brad
  17. If you have been riding for any length of time you should be okay, just remember it requires a little respect, It is heavy. Enjoy and good luck on your decision. BRad
  18. Congrats Ozz. Guess you will be making over this way or Brantford in the near future. ? Brad
  19. Jbell I would think your problem is adjusting the float levels. Maybe a stuck float but I think adjustment. Best of luck solving your problem. Brad
  20. With the whole family, the trailor will occasionally come in handy when you can get away for day or so, while on vacation. Also came in good when the switch went bad. BRad
  21. Had this problem once before on a different bike. IT was Dirty carbs. Put some seafoam, full can in the tank, and run it. I ran two tanks with seafoam and it cleared up Brad
  22. Agreed Hated to watch the back end bounce around. Just was not sure where to connect the strap too BRad
  23. I am sure others will post but off the cuff I thought the forks or tubes could be bent ? Brad
  24. Compared to who ? ? ? Welcome Mr. Donuthole. Or should we say Timbit, or Mr. Simpson, okay then Donuthole it is. Anyway glad you joined and jumped right in, but we have rules and No. 1 is pictures. So when you get your fairing and all is well you'll have to post some photos BRad
  25. Just aboutthe same here. BMX I do like how you did the front strap though. What are they tieing the rear end too. Just the saddle bag rails ? Brad
