  1. Are there any replacement antennas for both the CB and the AM/FM OEM whips on a 2nd Gen? Mine are working fine as far as I know. I never use the CB or the AM/FM. I would just like replacements that are shorter. It would be a plus if the replacements actually work but since I don't use them and I would keep the OEM whips I suppose that would be ok also. Preferrably they should be as simple as possible to replace...just screw them on???
  2. SylWoody check your private messages. I may be able to help (maybe).
  3. I have a drivers backrest that I had to replace when my Venture was triked. I bought it from a friend who bought it to use on his TD but decided he did not like it against his back. If your looking for one and this one will fit, it's available at a good price. Photos if desired.
  4. The audio system on my 2009 RSV has been the only thing that has been problematic. It would go to "CB" and stay there. It would go to maximum volume and stay there. It would not turn off no matter what I did until the key was turned off. It would go to "FM" at maximum volume, with "CB" cutting in when a signal was received and the volume could not be lowered. All I could do was put up with it till I turned it off at the ignition. Those things were random, not all the time. I took it back to the dealer about 3-4 times and of course they could never duplicate the problem. I finally was able to get it to them when it happened so they could check it. They said they found bad connections. It worked for about two weeks and started up again. More trips to the dealer, finally they replaced the control head. It worked great for about a month and the problems returned. They said they found more bad connections. Yamaha must have a "bad connection" installation point on the assembly line! Bottom line....when the bike was triked, the installer found a mass of corroded connections when he was doing the CB/trunk move. He cleaned and resoldered them and (knock on wood), it's been trouble free ever since.
  5. It's just a thought at this time, but JFI, what would that hitch cost and could I install it myself?
  6. I had my '09 RSV triked about 3 months ago. We immediately took a four day ride down the Natchez Trace Parkway. Having some time now to evaluate and I've given some thought to possibly (possibly only) getting a trailer. I did not have a hitch installed when I had the trike conversion done. Would I need to have the Hannigan installer do the hitch or is that something I can pickup and install? If it's something I can do, where might I look for the hitch?
  7. May not be eggzactly what you're looking for but WalMart has a reflector that is extremely close to the RSV size/shape. I used one and it was only about 1/8th of an inch shorter length wise. No one every noticed! I also bought Harley Davidson reflectors to go on the saddle bag trim rails. They come in flat-back and semi-round backs, they stick REALLY good and are only about $5 each (price the ones at Yamaha!). They are still on the rails two years later.
  8. I'm friends with several GWRRA members and the local chapter swears they work. On the other hand a friend with two on her car had a deer/car collision last year. So.....my opinion is that they work very well as long as you don't hit a deer!
  9. Hannah and I have been very satisfied with our Consumer Cellular phones, plans and service for about 7-8 years. Our total monthly charge is about $47-48, two phones, Anywhere 700 plan, no activation, no contract and I believe they use AT&T towers. www.consumercellular.com
  10. What Venturous said about Tennessee.... My wife works at the Roane County courthouse and that's what she does. I think my retired Navy special tag is about $24 a year. She takes care of that so I really have no idea
  11. I'll have to follow all those other posts....that is the best looking seats/backrest I've seen on any bike!!
  12. Looks great! I'm still getting used to my trike conversion. It does take some time to overcome all those years of "2" and now trying to learn "3"!!
  13. Very nice looking ride (and riders)
  14. We've done the full Natchez Trace Parkway once and half of it another time. Beautiful ride, but it is a cruise-and-stop kind of ride. It is NOT a high speed curve fest! Make lots of side stops, short walks, photo ops, visit some of the off the parkway towns and sights. As for the Loveless Cafe. Most people give it really high marks. We found it only average, small portions and just a bit pricey for the portions. Not a bad place, just not in our estimation worthy of the TV plugs and high praise it has garnered.
  15. Take the outline map of Australia and with your left hand on the Perth coast, right hand on the Great Barrier Reef side and then simply rotate the bottom up to the top and notice how similar it is to the United States shape.
  16. Interesting, Never considered that type of solution. The "blow up the trucks" demo was a good indication of the toughness. I'd like to see some good photos of the finished product on a trike or two. That's a choice that would last forever so you'd better be sure before you commit to it.
  17. thanks Leo3Wheel: the jpegs you shared with me let the wife and I feel more secure in how it was going to look.
  18. I'm interested in a 2nd Gen solution.
  19. I bought a Nikon S6000 for all those reasons. It's a bit older now but passed it to the wife who is the official pillion seat photographer. We went to Scottsboro, AL to Unclaimed Baggage (http://unclaimedbaggage.com/ ) and I found about 10-12 cameras among their selection that I really liked. After about 20 minutes handling and checking I finally selected a Nikon P500 for an excellent price. It's a bit larger than the S6000 but wow! it has a 36X optical zoom, takes great photos and the few macro shots I've made have also been excellent.
  20. We battened down the hatches a few times when we were in Exmouth back in '84-87. It literally rained thick red mud and the whole town looked like it was a gigantic adobe cooking pot
  21. Just went to the Ace High Leathers website and looked at some of her work and products. Very nice, very nice indeed. Looking at the work, the design, the detail etc, coupled with no price indications that I could find, I'm gonna guess that the price for a pair of stone guards would be completely out of my price range.
  22. The nearest 3-M installer to me is about 100 miles. Any idea/guesstimate what the cost might be for such an installation?
  23. I'm guessing the '91 VR does not have "audio in" capability that would allow an MP3 player?
  24. Small update on the trike info: I only used the bike's main tank for the Natchez Trace ride. Made it easier to keep track of the gas while I figured the mileage. Two days ago I rode up to Alcoa Good Times (my original dealer) to order a small part. On the way back home I pushed the button to transfer from aux to main. It worked as it should and was much faster than I had been led to believe. In about a minute I went from one bar on the gauge to about 3/4 or better. I'm guessing that between the two tanks I should easily get more miles than our butts can take before a short stop!
  25. Any "car" GPS will work though you may have to use the zip lock bag to waterproof. I favor Garmin but that's only because the PC software is already installed for updates etc. I just replaced my car GPS (Nuvi 755T) with a new Nuvi40LM and have the 755T moved to the Venture. The 755 supports bluetooth, has a media player, traffic updates and accepts GPX files (that may be important). It works very well allowing me to eleminate my MP3 player from my list of traveling gadgets. I also have a Nuvi205W that was installed on the Venture, it is a year behind on map updates but has not gotten me lost in nearly three years
