  1. I spend well over an hour yesterday trying to find a couple of specific patches. I would like to find a patch (or patches) that are "fill in the color" for Europe or the world. I have a USA/50 state patch already. I have ridden in Ireland, Spain and Australia and I would sure like to have those patches. Can anyone point me to a website that has those?
  2. During the process of deciding how/what I wanted when I was planning to "trike" my Venture I test rode one. I was impressed with the full dress touring features. I did not like the seating position but that is something that most drivers can adjust to. The main problem that I had was the steering. It seemed to me that if I even thought about moving the handlebars I was across the center line! The dealer who accompanied me (separate machine) told me that it usually took 300-500 miles of riding to get used to the steering. I will have to do the same when I trike my RSV of course. I still love the design and If the steering were less "touchy" I'd really consider it as a purchase. Watching the demo driver make some pretty high speed turns in a parking lot without sliding or raising a wheel shows the stability of the machine. I know that there are after market seats, foot boards etc. But, I really don't think I should have to spend hundreds of dollars when the adjustments could be built right in. Also, and I cannot confirm this personally, but the MPG figures I am seeing indicate that my Grand Marquis may get better mileage.
  3. myself on my 2009 Venture riding on Blood Mountain returning from Helen, GA.
  4. Every time I get on the bike. Even if I lived in a "helmet optional" state, I'd still wear it.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I'm waiting for a price quote from a "local" installer and then I'll decide where to take the bike for the conversion.
  6. I'm putting together a Hannigan Trike conversion check list and one of their questions is for a paint code. How do I locate the paint code for a 2009 RS Venture (the red paint).
  7. I put one on my '09 venture about two months ago. Hannah likes it! I did find that the mounting holes had one hole that was just enough offset to require a creative solution. It is about three inches taller and the "arms" also extend forward noticably more. I believe they are (mine at least) actually made by Corbin.
  8. Thanks for all the replies and opinions. Hannah (wife) is more in favor of the Hannigan and frankly so am I. The Venture has tipped on us twice and it worries her (and me). My left knee sometimes takes a few seconds to go into support mode when I have been sitting for a while. The side car route is not for me and I have looked at the Ghost Wheels but I've eliminated them also. We'll be talking with Hannigan in the next few months and getting our $$ in a row for whichever way we go. But I believe it's gonna be Hannigan.
  9. You may just need a file converter. I use one called "Switch Sound Converter" It's free (there is also a $$ version). http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Audio-Convertors/Switch.shtml There are other programs available also.
  10. It's getting much closer to when I plan to trike my '09 RSV. I first considered the "4 wheel" route, then decided on the Hannigan trike. But I'm seeing a lot of bikes with the Voyager style kit. Talking with a couple of owners of both styles I'm again thinking of the Voyager kit. Much less expensive and removable. I would only remove it if needed however. I hate to keep flip flopping on this, but either way is expensive and I'm just concerned that the Hannigan (roughly $16K set up the way I want it) would be overkill. The Voyager riders I've talked with have both really liked their kits and their wives did also. But so did the Hannigan rider that I talked with. I even went up and looked at the HD Trike (sorry) and also test rode a Can-Am Spyder. I really like the Spyder except for the driver foot position. Before I commit to something this costly I REALLY REALLY want to ensure that I have all my ducks in a row!
  11. Those red "x"'s are terrific
  12. Several members of our STAR chapter (www.starchapter424.org) did a two way ride on "The Dragon" on January 15th. Sun was shining, roads were clear and we only saw two other bikes on the ride, so we had the Dragon all to ourselves!
  13. OK I ordered from Ram Mount, received the mounting gear and have it installed on the Venture. I used the offset mount on top of the clutch unit. Now a couple more questions: I did not get the LCD back for the camera and am wondering how to get it lined up correctly for the videos. I may have to order the LCD back in order to get everything simple and easy to use. I don't want to shoot too low or too high (is that making sense?). I was reading the instruction leaflet (talk about confusing!!! ) and see that it can do a "live video" feed. So I tried it with my wife's netbook. The netbook (Windows 7 w/all current updates) installs the driver for the camera and then does not recognize it at all! I tried it on my desktop and it seems to work as it should. But I can't take the desktop outside to get the camera lined up. I suppose I may have to do a couple of "up the block and back" trials until I get the proper alignment. Do I need a specific program in order to see the video on the net book? Quicktime, Windows Media Player (already installed) or is there something that GoPro requires? Trying to get to GoPro support is an exercise in futility. I finally gave up.
  14. The passenger backrest is the STAR unit. It is very similar to the original except about 3 inches higher and the "arms" curl out a couple of extra inches. I believe it is actually built by Corbin but I'm not 100 percent sure. I'm thinking that I will probably take the RSV to Hannigan in Murray, KY for the "triking". It's a VERY expensive job and the $$$ required are somewhat slim this past couple of years. Seems that my Navy retirement and SS checks did not qualify for any sort of increases. They both did qualify for decreases each year however!
  15. Thanks Cougar....planning (hoping at least) to trike my Venture in the next few months. Perhaps I should just wait and let Hannigan take care of the trunk. The reason I was thinking of moving the trunk was because I put the replacement passenger backrest on. Hannah and I thought it would provide a little extra support for her. Since it is about 3 inches taller and the "arms" are a bit longer. Only had it on there for a couple of rides and so far she likes it.
  16. Raining for the next few days here in east Tennessee (at least on and off), so when I give it a look see I'll try to get decent photos and make them available. Just four screws? No need to remove anything else like the CB unit??
  17. I'm not finding those pictures to guide me on the relocation of my '09 RSV trunk. Can anyone point them out to me? I'm just not using the right search terminology I guess.
  18. Sorry to hear about your vision problems. My sister has been blind in one eye since she was about 18 months old. She has overcome it (learned to compensate ??) and you'd never know it about her. Do you belong to the STAR chapter in Greeneville? Jerry and the folks there have a super group of riders. Our STAR chapter www.starchapter424.org is having a "last ride of the year" get together this morning. Happy New Year
  19. I just went out and did some mount tests with the various mounting attachments and gadgets that came with the camera. The suction cup mounting piece will be too short to "see" over the fairing/speedo even if I attach the two short extentions. I have also spent some time looking at the Ram Mount solutions. I use Ram Mount for my GPS and it works great. I believe I am going to go with the "offset" mount for the brake/clutch reservoir. That gets it high enough and eliminates the excessive extention lengths that otherwise would be required. I may even get two of them and use one to replace the GPS mount that I currently have. That way both mounts would match. I watched several video/you tubes with other mount positions and I think the brake/clutch mount will suit my Venture best. Thanks to everyone for their input, I read each one, followed any included links and I appreciate your help.
  20. I have a GoPro HERO camera with all the included mounts. I've scanned the forum here for mounting suggestions. I'm still a bit unclear on where best to put the mount/camera. I would like to have a central location (suction cup on gas tank?). I do not want to helmet mount the camera because I tend to "lollygag" (look around a lot!!) and that would cause the video be rather erratic. I would like the central/middle location so that the instrumentation is also visible if possible. What are the opinions/problems with mounting on the fairing lower or even the front fender? Also...the camera does not have a safety lanyard. I can rig up a nylon cord of course but was also wondering if anyone has another recommendation?
  21. I use (and recommend) Microsoft Security Essentials. But.... .....nothing will help you if you keep visiting those Harley, Kawasaki and Suzuki forums and websites
  22. ....eggactly what I've been workin' on for the past 13.4 years. Had to stop the production when Wal-Mart closed the local store and built a super center just out of my walkin' distance! Dang!!
  23. Hannah and I have been Consumer Cellular users for about 5 years. No problems at all. No contracts, good service, prices considerably less then our old AT&T.
  24. In 1964 I bought a knockoff Strat. In 1969 I bought a knockoff bass (not sure what it was a copy of). In 2004 I bought an Ovation accoustic. I currently have one Strat, two Tele's, a Jazz bass and an Ibanez bass. I still can't put three chords in a row but "dang, they sho nuff look purty a hangin' on the wall"!
  25. Hey! Go easy on those Fender Squiers, we can't all afford the "good stuff" p.s. My Ibanez bass (not pictured) came along after these photos were taken!
