  1. Another vote for Road Runner!!
  2. It says it fits a 2000 Venture so it must be a 2nd gen part...
  3. What time do you want us all over, Jim???
  4. Yup! I was going to suggest a little more varnish on the finish...
  5. Sounds fantastic, Tom!! How about a litle demonstration some day, say, in my driveway??
  6. Setting around all day gets boring after a while, doesn't it Gary?!!? Hope you have a swift recovery!
  7. The itch was on my hand...
  8. Thanks, Gary! Yes, so far so good. It's still infected and pinkish, but at least it doesn't look like a cranberry log any more! Perhaps the real intention of this thread was to express boredom from being cooped up al day. I'm surprised, sort of, that there hasn't been more added to the list...
  9. Wow! Sure didn't take this thread long to turn into a Fram-bash!! BTW I do not patronize Frams either, to many independant studies al reaching the same conclusion as well as a few horror stories about incidents of Fram filters coming apart internally. I appreciate Waly World filters as they are wel built and inexpensive. I also like Purolator and Bosch. Mobil1 filters are very good indeed, but may be to pricey for what little extra filtration you may or may not get. For oils I have satisfactory results with Delo and Rotella diesel oils, but there is nothing wrong with spending way more for motorcycle specific oils. Just remember we have a wet clutch so no auto oils with friction preventers, etc. Frequency of changes, well that's up for debate here for sure. Myself I go 3K - 4K or less if I do a blazing expressway tour across country, then I may go 2K. A lot of people are overprotective of their engines and insist on the most expensive products available, thinking, sometimes erroneously, that price = quality. I sometimes think that there are owners out there that change their oil weekly or even daily...
  10. 1. Start a new thread 2. Swallow a pill 3. Scratch an itch 4. Put bandage on wife's finger boo boo 5. Have conversation with wife Whoooo Boy! It's gonna be a long winter...
  11. There ya go G&V! There ya go, Jack!
  12. I am also very pleased with www.tigerdirect.com and have purchased several items from them...
  13. Hmmmm, she is paying the shipping. The usual scam isfor you to send the person the shipping charges first. Know anybody up in Alaska?? That's the best bet. Maybe you can find out if she really does exist at the base...
  14. Knowing where Big Tom lives, I can attest those directions are absolutely correct!
  15. Must... See... Pictures!!! Actually, your parts one almost sounds like my '85 project bike I'm finally getting around to next year! Now go out and put some miles on that puppy.
  16. We usually blame Big Tom for everything around here...
  17. Uhhhh, I don't think so, Carl...
  18. If you click on his profile, you will find it's a '91 VR...
  19. Never ever touch the glass of the bulb with your fingers!! Your body oils will decrease the life expectancy. Use Nytril gloves when handling and installing. That being said, I've had them last for as short as a year or so to one set in my '98 Monte Carlo that were still working after 4 years...
  20. My question being, are you sure the compressor is toast?? It only works on the accessory position to prevent people from trying to asjust the pressure on the fly. A couple of problems with the compressor, the rubber tube and diaphragm get clogged, or the electrinic controller gives an error message, usually due to a deteriorated solder connection on the PC board. You will have to install 2 schraeder valves, one on the front shocks which was mounted on the black plastic handlebar cover, and one on the rear shock which I think was next to the damper control. I may have a spare compressor assembly for parts that you are welcome to if ytou want it...
  21. Ahhhhh!! THAT's why they are slower!! I KNEW there was a logical explaination!
  22. Yah! I was thinking Can Am style trike as well! Looks like a '50s version of an X type Jag convertable! I kind of like it...
  23. You have recdeived a lot of important information here!! My vote is to get some Dunlop E3's on it, tighten up your steering head a tad, check/replace your shock oil, replace your front springs with progressive springs, and install a "Condor" thicker fork brace. Also, is one of the front calipers hanging up?? Maybe it's time for new front bearings. Now to the rear. All the swing arm bushings should be lubed and replaced if needed. The rear axle splines where they go into the u joint are probably dry as a bone as well as where it goes into the differential. Maybe it's time for new rear wheel bearings as well. While you are at it, replace the differential oil cause I almost bet it hasn't been changed in years!! Do these things and I guarantee you a very nimble and stable scoot! I had no problems driving my '84 at 80 all day 2 up and took it over the century mark more than once. Owning both, the 1st gen handles better IMHO than the 2nd gen, but the 2nd gen is more comfortable albeit not as fast...
  24. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Charlie!!!!!
  25. Amazing how 1st gen guys answer about 2nd gen wiring!! Ken, as stated, blue is running lights and yellow is brake. There is a "T" conection that split the line as it went into the individual turn signals and the main tail light as I remember. Maybe the PO eliminated these or something. Sorry I'm not stock there but I'm sure eventually a 2nd genner will give you the answer you need...
