Yeah, 87 is good. The premium gas won't do any harm, but, might be running poorly because of that. I used to have the 1100 before I traded it in on the RSV. It was a good bike, but, it ain't a V4 & it's air cooled.

My better half liked the black cherry, so that's what we got. (I'm smart that way.)

Odyssey battery life
awsmsrv replied to 01 Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep, me too. I ride almost every day to work & back (even in winter here, unless a chance of ice) & I still plug my CTEK battery maintainer/conditioner in as soon as I park it in the garage. Seems to be working. Maybe not necessary at this time of year, but, being fully charged all the time can't hurt either. -

My '06 is still fine after 48K miles. -
Length (width) is 31", pullback is 14", height is 6", center is 7.5", OD is 1", ID is not known by me. Probably more info than you wanted, but, there you have it.

Jus' messin' with ya, Don. Take care of what you have to take care of. It's more important than our whining. I'm sure we can all appreciate how "life" happens. Hope everything works out well for your situation.

Hey Boss, how long is a week in Ohio? Oh wait, you also said, "or so". I think you put the period in before you finished: "or so I say". Yeah, that's gotta be it.

I just carry a 20oz MSR Fuel Bottle in each saddlebag. They don't take up much space in the bag. I push the envelope a little, but, not so much that there's danger of running out. I average about 5.25 gallons per fill-up. I figure if I did happen to run out, that would give me about 15 miles to find a station.

If you're wanting to know the wire colors, blue is the tail/running light & yellow is the brake light. Hope that helps.

When I had my V Star 1100, it wasn't much of a concern. I wouldn't allow my wife on the back of my RSV until I had 2 years experience with it. We did the parking lot thing at first. It was just fine. I'm sure I could have handled the bike with the extra weight of a passenger before 2 years, but, I was trying to make sure I wouldn't hurt her, thus, the 2 years of getting the feel of the extra 200+ pounds of the RSV versus the V Star. Just make sure you are completely vertical when coming to a stop. I'm sure you already know that with the weight of these bikes WITHOUT a passenger. Have fun.

Thus concludes our grammar lesson today. You're right, of course. Those I listed are my better ones. The trunk rack I have is OEM, so, I didn't mention that in my list because the OP said, "non-factory".

About 4 years ago I went from San Diego, CA to Medford, OR in about 14 hours. About 800 miles & I felt great compared to 2 years before that on my V Star 1100 when I stopped about 100 miles earlier.

Isn't it pronounced "pile on"?
