Can somebody make a phone call for me please?
Squidley replied to spear's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Steve, Glad to hear that it's on a roll, Dano gets all the credit. I'm glad that this is looking like a happy ending...roll on Buddy -
Thanks Paul, I'll put a sticky up on this so the 1st genners get to see it, I know there are many that are looking forward to getting these

It's a little Christmas present Very glad to hear that you were able to have that supper, I'm sure it meant more than anything. I used to be spoiled with Moms home made bread and her home made noodles. She had a big 3'X5' steel table, you know the ones covered with white enamel I believe. and she used to roll out the dough and cut noodles out of them, nice and thick. Then make whatever soup was desired Chicken noodle was my favorite....that was some feel good fodd for me

Getting rid of some items from my '99
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
dharnie, I didn't buy the bike from the insurance company, so I wont sell any of the stock items. Besides the fact that there isn't any piece of the plastic that isn't broke...sorry Pilot....dont have a trunk bib either -
Robert, I finally got back to sending your PM, thank you for the interest. Thanks too Wikd and eagleeye, do appreciate the seal of approval and glad they worked out. Just so all the G2 folks know, I am currently out of the brackets. But I went back to work yesterday and will get busy on making more up. Give me about a week and I believe that I'll have sets ready to ship. Thanks for all your paitence, it was a little tough after bouncing from the crash to go back to work. Hell I fell asleep at 7pm and didn't get up till 3:30 this morning

I know folks have used 2X4's and hockey pucks, but Carbon One's lift adapter is the best thing going. His quality is impeccable and the adapter works perfectly...I have one myself and I wouldn't jack my G2 up without one http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/69/cat/7

There are many of us here on the site that run nothing but Avons. Like was mentioned, all you have to do is try them out and you'll be hooked. Tom gives VERY good advise in that they should be kept at the max pressure. Adjust your suspension and not the air pressure in the tires, you'll get better wear at the upper most pressure

Nice pics....and in front of the new house too

I just want to be sure that members here know whats a good deal and whats not. Like I say, I'm not trying to but some folks aren't as up on things as others and I like to see us have a level playing field As always, if you have any question about anything for the bike or whatnot, just ask. Most of the time you'll get half a dozen folks post links to the same item or similar at a good price. Just a shameless plug here, we do have an area with preferred vendors and it's always good to check them out as most give us a discount

Start it up and drive! That Venture isn't even broke in with those miles and I have taken several Ventures on many roadtrips well over 2k miles. I would just say to make sure the tires are new and all your fluids have been changed out. Make sure all the basic maintenance is done and the bike will run forever. If you have any technical questions make sure to look in the tech library or come on and ask questions in the 1st gen area. You wont be sorry and you will enjoy the trip

Now that is one word I have never heard anybody say about Gene. How does a person of his stature Sneak????

The only thing I want to pass on here is know what your buying. There are guys on Ebay that are making a killing on items like this. They will buy them for $20 and sell them for $60 plus shipping. I'm all about folks making money, but that is just plain screwing folks. Not trying to sound preachy here, but reaserch what it is that you might want to buy. Ebay is not the place it used to be and I have seen used items sell for more than you can buy them new. Some of the folks that sell on ebay could care less about screwing you. And I already here folks yelling at me on their computers. Yes there are people out there that will buy something just because they think it's a deal on Ebay. I just hate when folks will screw someone else and pray on them being oblivious of other options. Sorry about stealing this thread for a minute, I just dont want to see anyone getting unnessecarily screwed when there are other options available at a lesser cost.....Off Rant

Nice looking bike there Boomer...but there's no snow on the ground -
Great news my friend....we are looking forward to seeing you soon

I agree with changing the plugs, Ventures dont run good after fouling plugs. I agree with JT in that I use a whole can of Seafoam in a tankful, dont dilute it. When you get fresh gas and Seafoam in it, get on the expressway and run the hell out of it 70 mph+ Most times I have found that if you run them like you hate them they purrrr

I'm not positive on the cause of it, most likely the nut loosening up and not keeping everything tight. I have seen it on several different years, so it's not just a set year that has it. I will say that it is rare and nothing to be worried about. Just keep the u joint greased and do your maintenance and more that likely you'll never see it. Yes, the bike can still be ridden as most folks dont know what the noise is. The fella that I diagnosed came 60 miles on his to my place and I rode it and then quite by accident saw oil leaking from the seal/boot area and pulled the boot back to see it. He rode it 60 miles back home and then proceeded to tear it apart and fix it.

Denny, Here are a few trailer pics that I have. The 1st ones are of a trailer that Dragonrider sold for a friend. The Diamondplate one is one I built out of a truck utility box. I customized it with Lights off a 1st gen, Marcarl owns it now. The last pic is the setup my wife and I rode through the dragon with...trailer and all. Just for an idea of how it performs, we have put better than 20000 miles on that trailer pulling it behind several different Ventures
