  1. I want to take a few minutes and Thank EVERYONE that was able to make the M&E this Saturday at McRae's. I can't even begin to tell all of you how much this meant to Lonna and myself. Pretty much everyone knows of Lonna's and my plans to move to Texas. As much as we are excited to get out of Michigan, there is a bitter sweet pill to have to swallow, and that is leaving the people here that we care a great deal about. As quite a few of you know, Lonna and I were kept completely in the dark about the "Quilt" that was being made for us by none other than Marca Norg (The better half of Marcarl) and Robin Higson (Wizard 765's better half) It is a beautiful piece and something that Lonna and I will cherish the remainder of our days. Nice work to Freebird that sent out the mass email and helped the accomplices to totally dupe us. This doesn't surprise me as I have been on the planning end of some very secret projects here on the site The time at the restraunt was fantastic and the staff there took good care of us. I'm guessing that about 70 people showed, we had over 30 bikes in the parking lot and 5 cages. Of course after lunch/supper we had to do an ice cream run, which we did up to St. Clair and bombarded a small creamerie who was very thankful that I showed up with 20+ people. Then we went back to our house....and thats where the antics started up. My sister in laws beau while we were gone brought a triwall box full of wood to the house and prepped for a bonfire. There was the usual BSing and then the "Beverages" were being consumed, quite liberally by some. With all the wood gone and some very good story telling...."Can you hear them now Clarice" we retired, none worse for the wear, but very happy to be able to enjoy the company of others. Sunday morning started with it raining ( I wish the weatherman would get his story strait ) and the last stragglers from the day befores escapade loaded up and headed out towards their domiciles. Lonna and I can't remember the last time we had this much fun. I was so glad that everone made it here and back home in 1 piece. So to Marca and Robin for your tireless efforts with the beautiful Quilt, and all their accomplices, we love you folks. To everyone from us THANK YOU we will not forget this weekend for a long time to come, and for the conspiritors that helped in anyway with our wonderful gift....Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.
  2. Seems that Earl is getting a pretty good reputation here for helping others out.....Good on ya Earl
  3. Couldn't have said it better, that should pull awsome, very nice work
  4. It was great to have you here my friend, thanks for letting us know you made it home. We'll catch up with you before you head south
  5. Magnum PI was my all time favorite, but I watched Hill Street Blues and Beretta back in the day
  6. It's different....I'm with Don, it's neat looking, but I dont know if I'd want to ride it That little VW is pretty trick too, he should paint it like the Mystery Machine on Scooby Doo
  7. Looking forward to seeing you my friend, be safe on your trip and were having a bon fire tomorrow night
  8. That inline 6 is a Honda CBX, very rare to find them these days, I guess it was a monster as far as the torque.
  9. Nothing really, there is only 1 right in the center of the collector running fore and aft, basically just splits the chamber in half. Clay, Not a hard job, just time consuming like mentioned above. I had to do it on my '89 and cursed at it a few times, but got it buttoned back up with no issues. Front tubes are easy to get off, the rear suck as you have to take the down tubes out of the rear heads. This is so you can break loose the pipes from the collector, putting it back on can be a bit tricky, but paitence will help you immmensely
  10. Good to hear that you got the real culprit taken care of, the warranty is nice
  11. As much as I'd like to, I need to be prudent with my monies right now, Thanks for offering though
  12. Nice looking trailer Steve, I couldn't agree with Freebird more, good to see that your excited about getting it. I myself won one of the laptops and was so happy to get one of them. I have played with it on the road these past 3 weeks and just couldn't be happier that I won it. Good on ya and have a great time with your "New Toy"
  13. I'm reading all this and laughing It's a ton of work, but Thank You for doing this for the members Dan. Wish I'd have looked at it earlier as I might have got one myself for a spare, such is life
  14. I had an 750 Interceptor V4 when I was in the service, that was the most comfortable crotch rocket I had ridden back in the day. I topper her out going south on A1A at 145....that was fast enough.
  15. Be safe and have a good time
  16. If you want to ride well down in the lower 40's and below, get a heated inner liner and a good leather jacket. I have a pair of deerskin lined gauntlet gloves that I also wear as well as a very good pair of leather chaps. I have ridden my RSV to work in the upper 20's and yes it was cold, but only for a little bit. It really all depends upon you and your tolerance for cold, the heated liner really makes a huge difference as it will keep your core warm and the rest will follow.
  17. Unfortunately Lonna and I wont be able to do the ride this year. I have a charity ride for the Sabrina Black foundation that I promised a friend I would lead for him. As always Thank You for grabbing the bull by the horns and making this happen. You do us very proud trumpeting this cause and handing it over to St. Judes personally And for anyone on the fence about going, dont hesitate. This is a ride and an event that will never leave you, it's moving to say the least.
  18. Cindy, Did you find the one for me, if not I'd be in for another order
  19. Hold the phone...where am I going that I dont know about
  20. Chuck, What Boo mentioned is good advise, the 1200's had the problem with the oil porting on the stator, there was a fix incorporated in the '85's I believe. The 1300's '86 to '93 didn't have this issue. There is an aftermarket stator upgrade that will help, but I have never done one and haven't had issues with any of the stators in the 4 1st gens I have owned. If the deal is right, make it happen, there is plenty enough advise here to help you with any and every problem you might have. I'm so confident in the 1st gens that I just bought an '89 with 102K on it and have been riding it with no worries as I know it's a pretty bulletproof bike.
  21. Here are some pics of how I tie my 1st gen down, the G2 is similar, but I remove the drivers seat for the 2 side up high straps. Triple tree in the front as the fork setup is a bit different. The rear crash bars are a good point or their in on the frame for the back.
  22. The CLASS is a love or hate...or both. I have removed the system from a couple of my 1st gens because I couldn't get it to work right even with soldering. You can install the air lines from a standard Venture as they didn't have the fancy system. KISS is the main thing here Keep it stupid simple, if this '89 I just got gets to the point where the CLASS gives the ghost I will do the same thing to it without hesitation.
  23. Good to see both of you and the kids again Rick. Kinda surprised you at Vogel from what I understand Glad your trip was a good one and you know once we get into TX you'll have a winter area to come down to when you need a defrosting
  24. Welcome to the hole.....now you understand why I politely declined your offer to see about working over there Make the best of it, lots of opportunities for making money, lots more for personal growth. It's gonna be 1 hell of a M&E when you get back stateside Be safe and dont push the limits there, as much as you want to BTW....Like the others have said, let us know what we can send you. Keep in mind that bartering and trade value stuff comes in handy too
