  1. Ahh, the ol' "smoke wrench". One of my favorite tools.
  2. Any 12 volt solenoid should work. Space is the main concern. You could check out a lawn mower shop, and they may have a smaller one you could use.

    A good day

Like I said, I haven't been able to ride for a month between bad weather, and my TCI going out on me. Today, we went riding some good twisty roads with my oldest son and his girlfriend. He rides my old bike, that I sold him last March. I may be buying it back from him after he takes off to Basic Training next month. We rode some good twisties, then took the ferry across the lake, then rode the twisties again. We then ended up at our favorite local hangout, for some good bbq and 'liquid refreshment". Great times. I'm soooo glad to be riding again. Click on the pic... http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/th_IMG_0063.jpg
  4. Try removing the screw from the bowl, and letting it drain...with the engine off. Then, spray carb cleaner up in the hole that the screw came out of. You seem to have either a float sticking, or a piece of trash in the needle/seat area. Maybe this procedure will clean out the trash, and the problem will go away. Good luck!
  5. I use one similar to this. (I know, I'm cheap) I got it at Wallyworld, and it works great for shocks and forks. I don't lose air when I pull it off, either. 6. I am very happy for you, and very sorry you lost such a good friend. I love those old Electra Glides. My Dad had one that was a '69, I think. Everyone else has already said everything I could have come up with, so just enjoy your new ride, and keep those memories alive. He would have wanted you to have it, I'm sure.
  7. Excellent job by those little ladies. Choked me up for sure.
  8. I hope I never pass one, but if I do I think I will be rich 'cause I have drank so much Goldschlager that they have to be made of gold by now...lol.
  9. Doubletree....best bed we ever slept in. Lotsa big pillows too.
  10. I am back riding again!! Been down for a month. Thanks to Snaggletooth, I bought a TCI, and it works great. I have it mounted on top of my airbox now, 'cause I don't ever wanna dig down to it again...whew. Thanks for all of the input in helping me sort thru this. I'm goin' ridin'.
  11. :TEAL: Lots of great folks here!
  12. Cold and snow I can deal with. When the ice comes, I am done. We don't use salt here, so that's not an issue.
  13. I will let you know soon. Right now, I am concentrating on getting the bike back on the road. As soon as I get that ironed out, I'll be in touch.
  14. I would rather put the 1st gen engine into a 2nd gen. Then it would be fast!!
  15. OK, how much to make me one like yours then? I have a Garmin Nuvi 205W. Should be the same mount.

    Parts I need

Ok, I have the TCI, now I just need the others. Thanks Mike. Anyone?
  18. I have an '83 standard Venture, and I am looking for these parts... Speedometer cable TCI Pickup coils If you have them, PM me with a price, or post here and I'll get back to you. Thanks, Patrick
  19. I am interested in the GPS mount. Could you make one that would just screw into the existing mirror hole?
  20. I thought the cash for clunkers vehicles were supposed to be crushed as part of the deal?
  21. Well, I removed the resistors from the plug caps, and cut a piece of 8 gauge copper wire to take their place. The bike starts sooo much better now. I still have the popping/surging though, and after troubleshooting everything else, I have about determined it's the pickup coils. Some read twice what they're supposed to. Resistor plugs with copper wire inserts in the caps=win!
  22. RFI=Radio Frequency Interference EMI=ElectroMagnetic Interference.
  23. I didn't mean for these. I meant are you going to do an auction this year?
  24. Well, why are the stock plugs resistor type? The manual shows a DPR8EA-9, and it even says resistor type in the manual.
  25. Are you doing the auction again this year? I am glad so many here support St. Judes. I have an automatic payroll deduction setup to St Judes, so I don't forget to send it in every payday.
