  1. I got something like your talking about at a motorcycle show. It's just a round tube that stretches over your head and wraps around your neck. You can pull it up or down depending on your preference. It cost me $10 at the show. I do find that if I pull it up over my nose it fogs my glasses. You can always keep what you got and buy a bigger helmet.
  2. I've done 3 oil changes with the blue jug and the wal mart filter and my Venture still purr's like a kitten.
  3. Thanks for the tip but what is RTV? I would like to get some.
  4. Worth every penny and still a steal. Don't worry about taking advantage of us we have been taking advantage of you for years. Great work!:happy65:
  5. I guess I'll be the sour apple. Although I like the Clearview and the vent I have had a few issues with both. I have the XXL Clearview. The vent does leak when it rains. Nothing major but water does come through. The two screw (bolts) whatever you want to call them vibrate loose so you need to keep check on them. Most of the water problem I have is with water being pushed up and over the windshield and as you know with the Venture the wind comes up from behind you so it pushes whatever water comes over the top up against the inside of the windshield. As for the vent it is nice most of the time but I was out west last year during the record breaking heat wave and when your doing 65 to 85 mph in 106 to 112 degree weather with the vent open it was like somesone had a blow dryer blowing hot air in your face. I close my vent and was a lot more comfortable. For the most part though I like it.
  6. Hey it finally got above freezing here. 3 days of sub freezing temps up here. I can't remember when the last time it stayed below freezing for 3 days. I did take the bike out though one afternoon. I waited for the temp to get to 30 degrees. Does that make you feel any better?
  7. I run 38 front and 40 rear.
  8. I live in Jonesboro which is on the south side of Atlanta ( a Atlanta suburb) and the snow is not even suppose to get bad until around 6 pm with little or no accumulation and the schools where scheduled to close today around noon and they scheduled it yesterday. Go figure.
  9. I have them on my bike. And mine did not hold up either. My left grip's chrome is all pitted from the sweat and when I called Kury about the problem they would not cover the replacement but would sell me one grip for $40. I still have the pitted grip. I don't notice any vibration without the weights. As mentioned in one of the replies you can attach the stock end weights with some modifications. Kury also has some end weights that fit the grips. The throttle cables work just fine as long as you order the right grips that are made to fit the RSV. One problem I have found is I can not spread my hands out as far as I could with the stock grips because they are not as long.
  10. I guess I'm one of those 2nd gen owners that don't have a problem with the 10 year old technology. Sure it would be nice to have fuel infection but if you do you had better not run out of gas. And you probably would have to use premium gas. The tape deck doesn't bother me because I don't use it. All I use is the mp3 player. It doesn't have a tachometer, so what I new that when I bought it. Who cares I never hit the rev limiter anyway. I guess I'm just easy to please. The new Ultra Classic's are beautiful bikes. I've never ridden one or had the desire to ride one. HD makes a much better bike than they used to but for whatever reason they are way to expensive and even though they have made great progress with the heat issue it still have a heat problem. I ride one up so it doesn't bother me that the HD's rear seat room is smaller the the RSV. So for my money I'll stick with the RSV.
  11. I have run across similar situations and the way I protect myself is I use the VISA card through PayPal. That is the only way I will buy anything on Ebay. That way you have 60 days to file a complaint and VISA will take the money from PayPal and PayPal will take the money from the other guys bank account. I never use my bank account with PayPal as it leaves you no protection. Believe me I have done this in the past when PayPal only gave you 30 days to file a complaint. I contacted PayPal and they said to bad your 30 days are up nothing we can do so I contacted VISA and I got my money back.
  12. I wish I could help but I don't have any of the parts. I'm JB Welding the parts I have just to keep them on my bike. Sorry I can't help.
  13. I'm confident that Annie will make a full recovery but prayers sent just in case.
  14. Alright I just confirmed that I fixed my oil leak. I just rode around for about 15 to 20 minutes in 30 degree weather and no leak. My Venture was dripping oil in the same place as the picture showed in this thread. By the way the picture is of the bottom of the crankcase behind the vent tubes and crossmember and in front of the rear tire with the drip on the left side of the engine. Mine was leaking quit a bit of oil. I traced it down to the three bolts (#10 wrench or socket) on top of the crankcase behind the rear cylinders. You need to remove the cooling fins on both sides of the rear cylinder in order to have enough room to check all three bolts. The left bolt was completely loose the middle bolt was loose enough to leak oil and the right bolt was just barely loose. I don't think the right bolt was leaking but I tightened it anyway. The other two bolts is where the oil was leaking from. My bike has 4700 miles on it so I think they were never tighten down all the way at the factory but since the bike is 9 years old there is no telling but I find it hard to believe that those bolts could get that loose in just 4700 miles. Anyway if you have an oil leak towards the rear of the engine and you can't figure out where the leak is I highly recommend you check these bolts.
  15. Please put it back the way it was, put it back the way it was.
  16. I may have found the leak on mine. On top of the transmission (I think) the second roundish chrome piece on the left side of the engine there are a number of bolts. The two fatherest to the outside (left) are #12 size and there are I think 6 #1o size bolts that run from the left side to the right side. Three closest to the rear cylinder and three toward the rear of the bike and down where it would be very difficult to reach. While I was cleaning all the oil off the top and bottom of the transmission(?) i noticed the outside #10 bolt on the left just rattled around so I tighten it and let the bike run for a while in the driveway and checked and I still had an oil leak but either it wasn't as bad or I didn't run it long enough. So I cleaned everything again and checked the second front bolt from the left and it was loose but not as loose as the first #10 bolt. So I tightened it. I let the bike run a while sitting in the garage and so far no leak. I will test it some more tomorrow.
  17. Did the leak ever come back? I just bought a 2001 the previous owner said did not leak and low and behold it has a leak. The previous owner probably cleaned the leak right before I bought it. Anyway the leak is in the same place on my bike and it only has 4,700 miles on it.
  18. I don't know I can't make up my mind.
  19. I can't make up my mind either. At least I don't think I can make up my mind. No I'm sure I can't make up my mind... I think? Anyway I have passing lights on my 2000MM and I don't have passing lights on my 2001 Venture. Hows that for riding the fence! But I do think they make the Venture look better. I think???
  20. Alright I'm in.
  21. I can only mark one poll. I have two Ventures and neither one has the whine.
  22. If you plan to get rid of anymore I would love to get one of each color. Let me know. Harry
  23. Alright we just cleaned the carb and put new pilot jets in (stock) and new plugs and changed the oil and filter and changed the fuel filter (what a pain). We did this on Sunday and it took about 5 1/2 hrs to take everything apart and clean and put back together. The first thing we did was the Tuesday before we cleaned the carb I put in a whole can of Seafoam. I believe this done the most good of all. When I picked the bike up the previous owner said he had been warming the bike up for tem minutes and that the bike was cold natured. I pushed in the choke after 10 minutes of warming up an she died. I had to take the test ride with the choke out to keep the bike from stalling. The choke was very difficult to push in and out. The idle adjustment did not hardly work and was set to low. A lot of people responded that theirs has always been hard to start and I'm sure they have. But a lot of the problem some people have had I believe is from their bikes sitting on the show room floor for months or even years. I believe their gas goes bad and gums up the carbs. The bikes run fine at highway speeds but are difficult to warm up and I believe the pilot jets are the culprit. After putting in 1 full can of Seafoam in a fresh tank of gas the bike was a lot (I repeat) a lot easier to start. Ahter the work we did on Sunday the bike will start without any choke what so ever. Now having said that if you try to give it any throttle the bike will try to die so you need high idle foe maybe 15 to 20 seconds then you can push the choke in and it will idle fine. It still needs about another minute or two to completely warm up so it does not try to stall when you try to give it some gas. Now I don't know how much of this had to do with the spark plugs as I didn't test with the old plugs in. So I think it is running 1000 % better now.:thumbsup2:
  24. I also use them but did not received their email. They are very honest and I have not found anybody that could beat their price, shipping and handling charge, and customer service.
