  1. Sounds like you have a lot of good advice. I usually take a punch and brake up the tap as it is very brittle. But to answer your question, yes there is a harder drill bit, it is a diamond drill and the are pretty expensive and you have to keep it pretty cool.
  2. Beautiful bikes. But where are the 1st Gen.s?:rotfl:
  3. As for STAR DAYS if you expect a lot you are probably going to be disappointed. When I go to STAR DAYS I check the vendors out, do a little socializing, do the SWAMP AZZ ride and leave. Others look forward to visiting the local area, some go for the banquet, to each their own. Like I said before I use STAR for the same reason I use VentureRiders... to make new friends.

All I know is I have a bellsouth.net email and a yahoo.com email and I get spam coming out my ears with yahoo. THE BAD PART NOW IS BELLSOUTH USES YAHOO FOR THEIR EMAIL! That makes me so
  5. I personally have and like the run/brake/turn indicator with red lights. Yes amber is more visible when the amber light is flashing. However by running the run/brake/turn indicator I now have 3 red tail lights instead of one providing me with 66% more visible light not to mention it looks better. I understand color blind people have problems with red and green and my concern with this disorder goes beyond seeing a red turn signal but seeing a traffic light or seeing the vehicle in front of you stopping with red brake lights. Yes I want everyone to see my turn signal but more importantly I want everyone to see my red brake lights.
  6. Your right Mike there are a lot of rules and regulations but you make a lot a friends riding with some chapters and this is one of those chapters. You just have to sign a ride waiver, have a motorcycle license, have insurance, use hand signals, use the 2 second rule, and can only ride with a chapter 3 times or you have to join STAR to continue riding at $48 per year. Oh and no alcohol during the ride. Without the STAR chapter I would not know or be riding with the 30+ people in chapter 304 which I ride with outside the chapter rides also. So I guess it is a double edged sword.
  7. I quit trying a while back. I kept getting virus warning. I tried to contact the web master twice with no results. I checked the internet and they warned the site was infected with a virus so I just figured it was hopeless. I think my membership expired but not sure I don't want to infect my computer. It sound like they have made some changes since the last time I was on the site.
  8. First forget a Mustang seat. They don't make a seat for a Venture. I emailed them a few weeks ago to ask if they were going to come out with a seat for the Venture and there response was they had no plans to make a seat for the Venture. Same... I have one on my Road Star and I love it. I have a 2000MM Venture with a Corbin and I love it. I also have a stock seat for the 2000MM and it gets uncomfortable after a few hundred miles. I also sent off a stock MM seat to Rick Butler and had him redo it and it is much better but I like the Corbin. However my daughter says the Corbin is uncomfortable after an hour or so of riding and I have heard that from quit a few passengers. I have a 2001 Venture with the pillow top seats and I love them. I have not ridden more that about a hour and a half but no problem what so ever. My rear seat has a very small tear (about 1/2") so I wish I could find another one cheap I would replace it. I also wish I had a set of pillow tops that would fit a 2000MM that were tan I would put those on my MM. I don't think you have the pillow top seats. I would try to borrow a set from someone and test it out. I think you would like them.

I think it has a lot to do with which email provider you use. I don't get any with bellsouth but I get a lot with yahoo. I started getting spam with yahoo the first day I used it. It's almost like yahoo is encouraging spam.
  10. Don hope you make a speedy recovery. Thanks again for the parts. The back of my 2001 looks brand new again! Man what a difference. Harry
  11. The only issue I have heard with the RS is sticky valve syndrome. I don't have it but I've been told it is caused by running the Roadi in to high a gear and letting the engine lug. I've also been told there are a couple of products that help or prevent SVS. I use Seafoam and I can't remember the other products name. They probably have it listed on the STAR site or The Road Star Clinic.
  12. I have a 2006 RSMS and two Ventures. I love all three bikes. The RS does not have the creature comforts but is a great strong running, great sounding bike. I use my Ventures for long trips and my RS around town.
  13. All the above are good choices. You may also want to try J&M motorcycle parts. I have a license plate that has amber LED turn signal and a red running/brake light. The brake light is either a running or a brake light but can do both with a $4.99 part from Chrome Glow.
  14. Ditto:sign yeah that:
  15. Thanks I've checked and they only have a few of the parts and I'm bidding on a couple so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
  16. Why not get a drink holder that mounts to your clutch or brake reservoir? You have two screws that hold it in place and you'll know if you lose a bolt because your brake or clutch lever will start rotating on the handlebar.
  17. Hi here is a copy of an add I placed in the Classified Wanted section. I don't know how much people check that section so I thought I would give it a jump start and mention it here. Thanks for any help, Harry All chrome pieces on my 2001 Venture need replacing but the worse is the rear turn signal arms with or without turn signals. Rear fender end chrome fender tip. Rear fender side chrome pieces ( the pieces that the rear passenger and rear trunk rack bolt over). The rear antenna mounts and front passing light bar mount with or without passing lights. That all I can afford right now. Thanks for your help, Harry
  18. Oh, sorry... I think you are talking about the eyebrows. Hopefully someone has them for you.
  19. A friend and I just bought saddlebag rails for our 2nd Gen Ventures. After installing them they were raised up in the back outside corner as most are. We could fix them by drilling holes in the saddlebag rail just outside the whole that mounts to the rear fender as was done by the previous owner on my 2000MM or I could drill a hole in the fender mount as described in the tech article on this forum. However being an old sheet metal worker I figured all I needed to do was to rotate the flattened end that mounts to the fender. If you clamp the flattened end into a vise you gently pull the the outside back end (the end you want adjusted) in the direction that you want to go. Be careful a little goes a long way. If you adjust to much you run the risk of over bending and will have to bend it back a little or I guess it would be possible to crack the chrome plating although I think you have to twist it quit a bit. Ralph and I did his and my saddlebag rails this way and moved them from just about touching the rear turn signal lights to about 1 1/2"'s from the turn signals. The great part about this is you don't have to drill a hole in anything.
  20. If the chrome piece is broken good luck finding a new one. But if it's just the tabs that are broken they can be repaired. There is an article in the tech section on repairing the tabs. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=516
  21. Here is another little piece of information. If PayPal or Ebay send you a notice they will address you by name. These fake PayPal and Ebay scams will not address you by name they will say something like Dear PayPal customer or Dear Ebay user or something along those lines.
  22. I don't care what Rotella is or is not made of. All I know is it works great for me.
  23. I think I'm going to order the seat thumb nuts before they go up also!
  24. The synthetic at Wally World is $19/gal. The Dyno is $11/gal around here. I don't know why oil is so expensive in Canada either. But it all equals out. Think of all the money your saving on those dangerous prescription drugs (according to the US gov.) so you can afford to pay a little more for oil.
