  1. It doesn't sound like they are to compatible. The Venture has the slotted piece on near the rear of the seat and two bolts that hold the front down. I don't see how you could modify the Royal Star seat to fit the Venture. Thanks:thumbsup2:
  2. Might I guess? I don't know how a Royal Star mounts. I never heard of anyone doing it. Thanks:confused24:
  3. Ok I'll put this out to you guys cause I don't have a clue. Someone asked me if you can put a Royal Star mustang seat on a Venture. I told him I didn't thinks so. At least I never heard of anyone trying to do it... have any of you heard of such a thing?
  4. I don't have one of his songs in my collection. He was talented but not my type of music. Of course I didn't think Farrah was a good actress but she was a great looker and I believe she was a class act.
  5. Mike your a genius!
  6. Thanks Dray I'll give that a try.
  7. I called the local HF and gave them the part number and they don't even carry that trailer. Said I had to order it from the warehouse.
  8. Ok who went on the PGR ride today for Sgt Battle. I know I saw loehring out front with those big flags waving in the breeze. Made me real proud. I saw a blue 07 Venture and a Midnight Venture with some pin striping and a two tone champagne colored one with a couple riding with red shirts. There were about 135 motorcycles today so there were probably some Ventures I didn't see. Rides like todays really make you proud to be an American. I wasn't able ride to honor a Fallen Hero Sgt Beale last Saturday. Today I met a very kind and sweet young lady and her name is Mrs Beale. Meeting Sgt Beales wife was a real honor to me. If your not from GA you may not have heard of these two hero's but I'm sure you have your own hero's. Anyway any of you own the Ventures I mentioned above.
  9. Dunlop does make an E3 in a radial also. I don't know if the sizes are the same as the bias tires or not.
  10. Well I guess I should have been more specific. I road the Road Star today not the Venture. Venture is in the shop getting a good once over to get her ready for the 11,000 mile trip next month.
  11. 30% chance of rain today but I rode in just the same. There was 1 other motorcycle in the parking lot when I arrived. So much for standing together here where I live.
  12. Well I'm glad everything worked out for you but you were not alone that weekend. Nine of us went to Scottsboro, Al from Fayetteville, Ga. We stopped a a truck stop in Bremen, Ga. When we left I was the middle bike and we got about 1 mile from the truck stop and I noticed my rear end swaying back and forth. I let off the gas and it quit swaying. I gave it the gas and it started swaying again. I got on the CB and broadcast I had a problem. We got as far as I could out of the way of traffic. We looked at the back tire and it was completely flat. As luck would have it the hole was right at the back. No nail or anything. Jim had a small plug that was didn't look like it would hold. I had a air compressor so I hooked it up. The air compressor would only inflate the tire part way because the air leaking out of the hole kept the tire from inflating all the way. As luck would have it after burning my arm on the hot exhaust pipe I patched the tire with the funny looking plug Jim gave me and I looked up and a pickup truck had stopped. A very nice young man named Chad said he had a shop about two miles from there with a big air compressor and tire plugs (the old fashioned kind). So I made it to his shop and we plugged the tire and I offered him some money that he refused to take and just said to pass along the favor to the next needy guy. So my flat happened on June 6th and yes I guess I do ride on plugs now. We rode all weekend and the tire still has the plug in it. So I'm glad every thing turned out alright for you as it did for me.
  13. I'm no lawyer but I have always been told a verbal contract is just as legal as a written contract just harder to prove. If he wrote the drive out price down he can always deny he wrote it. To bad you don't have a witness. Bad salesman, bad, bad salesman.
  14. I have Road King slash cut on my 2000 MM sounds great. Not to loud but louder than stock. Looks great also. The slash angle matches the saddle bag angle.
  15. I have had no experience with Russel seats but I have a Corbin. My original seat was comfortable but not for long rides so I got another one off ebay and had it redone by Rick Butler. Much better but it still did not get me to where I wanted to be. I had noticed that most people who own Ventures loved their Corbin seats so I put out a thread and asked for comments. I only got one negative comment and that was from a guy who had never owned a Corbin on a Venture. He just didn't like Corbin's. I bought my Corbin off ebay and I love it. It is hard but I don't get sore as soon as I did with the other seats and it is easier to move around in. It also sits lower than the original seats. I ride 1 up all the time so I am talking strictly from a drivers point of view.
  16. Here's a link. No pictures though but what a surprise they list a 2010 Royal Star Venture now. I'll believe it when I see it. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2010models/2010models-yamaha.htm
  17. They have not made the midnight since 2007 and the 2007 didn't have the studded seats which in my opinion added to the look of the midnight. I personally don't think there will be a 2010 Venture (at least a 2nd Gen) Yamaha has released their 2010 line up and the Venture was not listed. They could add it at any time but I think they will eventually come out with another tourer.
  18. 1) If they keep the same design I would say the chance of fuel injection is 0. 2) 2 Gen is 1999 to 2009 and the only change they have made to the Venture is paint color and the optional cd player is standard on the 2009. There is not a 3rd Gen. at this time but a lot of people are hoping it will come out in 2010. But that was the big hope for 2009. 3) Does not come with a tach so I have no idea. 4) Pro's... Great bike been around for a while. Solid, dependable bike. Lots of over priced parts out there for it. Used parts available. Great forum's with great people that are willing to help. Lot's of room. Con's... Is top heavy at slow parking lot speeds (there is a fix if you are tall enough). Some bikes have a high pitched whining noise at certain RPM's. Nothing wrong just the nature of the beast. Have to take it to Yamaha for warranty work. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
  19. You need to loosen the nut between the risers before you start tapping the adjustment nut. Mine had the same wobble in it when I got it with 30,000 miles on it. I loosened the not between the risers and got on the right side of the Venture. I jacked the Venture up just enough to get the weight off the front tire and started tapping. It doesn't have to move much at all. You want to tap the back side of the adjusting nut to tighten (the side closes to the driver seat) and just move it a little. Check the movement of the front forks so that when the front fall to the side it just wants to hit the stop and bounce back a little. Just follow the instruction in the link above and remember to tighten the bolt back between the risers.
  20. So if you are following your manual and it does say change the oil every 8,000 and you have documentation on your oil changes and you have an oil related break down does this mean Yamaha will repair it free...I DON"T THINK SO but it would be interesting to try.
  21. That is probably a good idea but it is getting awful hard to buy want you need that is Made in America. The old sheet is a good idea but it will drag the ground if your not careful. I like this cover because it will not touch the ground and pick up loose trash. I use an old towel to put between the cover and the windshield. I can get heavier covers that are not made in China but you don't no where there made unless you email the company and ask. Heavier covers are also a pain in the a$$ to carry around.
  22. I just use mine to keep the dust off in the garage but I took it on a trip a week ago the keep the dew off and it rained that night. I went out the next morning and the cover was soaked. I just new the bike would be wet also. I took the cover off and it was completely dry on the inside. I was shocked. The cover cost me 99 cents plus $17 shipping. So I am very pleased with the cover. It also packs away into a very small bag.
  23. The 2720 does not take SD cards. It is a water tight unit. It doesn't even have a speaker. The speaker is on the power cord that plugs into the power outlet. The 2720 has no internal battery so it has to be connected to a power supply in order to work. I have another GPS that takes the SD card for pictures and music but I prefer to let my GPS be a GPS and my MP3 player be my music source. The 2720 has a lot to offer for a little price. I got a 2720 off ebay for $122 that is refurbished and comes with a 1 yr. USA warranty from Garmin. It is basicly a new unit but it has the 2008 maps which are fine with me. Like I said the 2720 has a lot to offer for a GPS but it doesn't have some of the features that even a cheap GPS features (card and pictures). As far as IPOD goes they do have a lot of accessories for them (more than the MP players) but it comes at a price. IMHO
  24. Does not surprise me that Yamaha puts out different information on the same subject. So let me see if I have this right; 1) The RSV has not changed anything but paint for the last 10 years but the older owner manuals recommend every 8,000 miles and the newer owner manuals recommend every 4,000 miles; 2) The PDF off the Yamaha site recommends every 4,000 miles; 3) but the service manual recommends every 8,000 miles. Got it...I think Clear as mud Yamaha needs a good for this. No wonder you can't get any decent service at a Yamaha dealer.
