That looks slick. Now that I got that out of the way. You said you would be using it without the tailgate and on a shortbed pickup. In the home page demo I can't tell if the truck in use is a shortbed or longbed so lets assume it is a shortbed. The rear wheel of the motorcycle hangs out of the truck and is supported by the loading devise. The loading devise is supported by the bed of the truck AND the trailgate. I can't tale from the demo how it is made but if you remove the tailgate and there is nothing supporting the rear of the loading devise, with the weight of the motorcycle loaded onto it is it strong enough to support the motorcycle bouncing down the highway on it without it bending? You may want to run that by the manufacturer and get their blessing before doing that. It appears it was not designed to be used without the tailgate so just in case you have a warranty issue you may want to check with the manufacturer first. IMHO

An accident that really hits close to home.
YamaDuck replied to Mariner Fan's topic in Watering Hole
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of a little one. This senseless killing infuriates me to no end. This was no accident. When an F150 pickup truck pulled out in front of me and I t-boned it I was hurt but I did not hold any anger against the driver since he said he did not see me. BUT for this lady to admit that she saw him and pulled out anyway because she thought she could make it is absolutely criminal negligence. From the photo's of the accident she wasn't even close as it appears she hit him as he was going by the front of the car. My heart goes out to the family. -
Mine normal. What you been smoken?

That Black Cherry I found in TN just like you see it there for $9500 with 9000 miles on it. My buddy totaled his 06 Venture and I found him this 06. He was thinking of getting a 09 Harley Ultra Classic until I found him this Black Cherry. Now the Harley owner is mad because he just new James was going to get the Fire Fighters Edition Ultra Classic and there would be two in the club. James just couldn't pass up the 06 Black Cherry for $9500 he has had it about 2 weeks. At least someone is thinking. Harley's are beautiful bikes but a friend and I were riding the other day and we stopped at a light (he owns a 09 Street Glide) His engine looked like it was going to jump off the frame and his arms were shaking so bad I just had to ask why he was shaking and he said he was cold.

Yep and that is the only color he wanted and he and to deal with Killer Creek Harley (I think that's right) which is the only Harley dealer in the area that had one that color. He said they were rude and if he didn't have to deal with them he would have just walked out.

I agree with Don, I had a two scratches that are not very noticeable but I figured I would contact Corbin and see if I could buy some stain and touch up the seat. I also had an issue with the back rest. It did not move as it was all rusted up so I asked Corbin also how the back rest was suppose to move because I didn't want to break it by forcing it the wrong way. Well Corbin's answer was short and sweet. Corbin does not sell leather stain and I can look at there web site to get my answer about the seat adjustment. Well I had already checked the Corbin web site and I could not find any information that stated how the back rest was suppose to adjust only that it had a screw in the back for adjustment. Now considering how much their seat are I thought a little more customer service was in order even though I bought it second hand it was still their seat. Another issue Don points out about a company that didn't even reply to his email. I can relate to that also, I set Clearview Windshield two emails asking about an issue with my Clearview Windshield I have never gotten an email from Clearview. I figure that if these two companies don't provide service after the sale then neither company will receive any business or recommendations from me in the future. Harry:no-no-no:

Thanks for the info but I got the used Corbin in Thursday and took it for a 300 mile ride Saturday. It was very comfortable. At $250 I figured I couldn't go wrong and it is the STAR edition which is $1200 out of the STAR catalog. Thanks for the new seat website I'll take a look at it for future reference. Harry:thumbsup2:

I am also a member of STAR chapter 304 Fayetteville, Ga. And all of our members own Yamaha's and several of us own two Yamaha's...until now. One of our members who owns a 06 Stratoliner went out and bought:mo money::mo money: an brand new 2009 Harley Ultra Classic. He hasn't completely lost his mind as he kept the Strat. Well, we all met today and got our first look at the new Ultra Classic and it's proud new owner (one wearing the helmit) and one of his buddies (one wearing the shades) and an oil spot (just happened to be there but not really from the Harley but we had him going). The Ultra Classic is really a beautiful bike and I really hope he likes it. Well here are the pictures, enjoy. Harry:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Venture aftermarket pipes?
YamaDuck replied to YamaDuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've gotten a couple of things to look for. Some say it sounds like it may have a catalytic converter in it (some say it is alright to run it that way and some say no) and one suggestion is that it might be a dummy muffler used for looks on a 2 to 1 system. The numbers I'm told indicate the engine size of the motor it came off of. -
Harley FLT 1584 pipes
YamaDuck replied to YamaDuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks I'll check it out. The left pipe looks like it has a plug or something in it where the right side is open. Thats what concerns me. Thanks again -
Harley FLT 1584 pipes
YamaDuck replied to YamaDuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They look very similar to stock RSV pipes. -
Well I need some information. A friend has a RSV and four sets of pipes. A set of Wild Pigs which is on the load side, a set of stock pipes that are on the quite side. Two set of what we believe are Harley pipes that are shaped similar to the stock RSV pipes. One set has HAR FLT 1584 and the other set has HAR FLT 1584/1688 stamped on them. We want to hear how they sound but are concerned with how they are made. Both sets look identical. On both sets looking down the right hand pipes from the rear you can see a piece of metal that tapers off to one side down near the center or the pipe. No problem looks like the exhaust can exit unrestricted. The left had pipes you can not see through. At about the same position as the right pipes it looks like four courners have been folded in to close off the pipe. Between this "plug" and the exhaust end of the pipe is some holes for the exhaust gases to exit the pipe. I do not know why they are different but my concern is that the left side back pressure will be different from the right side back pressure and whether or not that if the two sides back pressures are different will that hurt the bike or it's performance.:think:

Does anyone know what type of pipes these are? Here is the number stamped on them HAR FLT 1584/1688.:think:

Which antifreeze to use?
YamaDuck replied to safetyguy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I read somewhere not to use a silicate base anti freeze. It said if you use a silicate base anti freeze it could hurt your Venture. So I don't use it. It is easy enough to follow the guidelines.- 17 replies

Wind breaker or light jacket for riding?
YamaDuck replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Watering Hole
The link didn't work. I've seen the HD ones before. The ones I have seen usually have a orange middle section with black upper and lower section. You're right they are over priced. You have a $30 jacket and a $100 name on it. Here is a Yamaha Wind Beaker. It is not like the HD but it is a wind breaker. http://www.shop.snowmobilerswarehouse.com/product.sc%3Bjsessionid=5F6990CE71F5A78B5C96DA9347B9B3FB.qscstrfrnt03?categoryId=20&productId=84 You can also Google Yamaha Wind breaker and search. STAR also makes a wind breaker. http://www.renosyamaha.com/productdetail.htm?productId=7462043&ez=Star%20Motorcycles%20Jackets~q=bidaa1705zzfidaa212zz~r=~,Star%20Motorcycles%20Jackets~q=bidaa1705zzfidaa212zz~r=~ STAR also makes some light weight jackets. http://www.renosyamaha.com/productdetail.htm?productId=7462054&ez=Star%20Motorcycles%20Jackets~q=bidaa1705zzfidaa212zz~r=~,Star%20Motorcycles%20Jackets~q=bidaa1705zzfidaa212zz~r=~ http://www.renosyamaha.com/productdetail.htm?productId=7468589&ez=Star%20Motorcycles%20Jackets~q=bidaa1705zzfidaa212zz~r=~ I'm sure you will find what your looking for. Wind breaker or light jacket for riding?
YamaDuck replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Watering Hole
Heated vent in the 60's??? Just goes to show how you get acclimated to your environment. I don't turn my heated vest on until it gets below 45. I imagine the people from the north are thinking the same thing about me. Anyway I have two light weight jacket/sweaters. One is a zip up hooded sweater. It is fleece on the inside and cotton on the outside. You need to take the cord out of the hood because it stings when they hit you in the face at 50 miles per hour. I got it at Targets for $10.50. The other is a light weight denim jacket. It is unlined. I got it from Wally World (Wal-Mart) for $20. They both do a fine job for me although the denim jackets collar flaps around a bit but so far it is no biggy. -
See if something like this will fit. They are very bright and look great and come in 3 different lengths. http://www.chromeglow.com/catalog.asp?prodid=563990&showprevnext=1

I've seen this on a Venture and man does it look good. It doesn't go under the trunk it goes on the trunk and looks like it came from the factory when mounted. http://www.chromeglow.com/catalog.asp?prodid=563990&showprevnext=1

I went to leather shop down here a few months ago. They had a jacket I was interested in so I decided to try it on. I wear an XL so I started there. You could tell by looking at it on the rack it was to small. So I tried a XXL without any luck so I tried a XXL which was the largest they had and I couldn't even get the thing on.
