Swingarm/shock mount question
dingy replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Here is a top view of the two different MKII swing arms. If you have both of them in front of you, measure the mounting points to see if they are the same. As far as the two bolt setup in the middle, my guess is it was a design change to make ride smoother. You can be an expert on this after it is all done !! I think it will work, at least that's what the voices in my head say !! Also, there is a rear on view of the single center bolt, if it will help any. Gary -
On the 83-85 bikes these two fuses are in the radio harness. They are in-line glass tube style fuses. Been a while since I had them in my bike. The attached picture shows them. They are the 2 white plastic housings just above & in front of the rear of the fender. These are probably in the head light bucket. You may be able to see them if you remove the left front turn signal. Gary

It is a joint Venture, for the International Rally. Tom is the model & Carl is the spokesman. And, it was slightly used. Gary http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/Tom.jpg http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/PICT0362s.jpg

Better the car than your recently retired self. I think the car took the hit better than you would have. Gary

Just talked to Dan and they are alright. No internet. He has a bunch of family at house so I didn't talk to him much. Garage had some very minor damage to roof he said. Gary

I sure hope his new garage wasn't damaged. He has spent a lot of time getting it built. Gary

Not sure why the slides get rough on one spot. Gary -

The only issue I would see is the 83 bike, if it still has an 83 TCI, needs the port above the throttle plates on the #2 carb. If you try to hook an 83 TCI to an intake manifold vacuum source it will not run well. Otherwise they should be no problems swapping them. The latter carbs have a casting boss where the 83's had the vacuum nipple, so if you were inclined, you could probably drill & insert a nipple on he 86 rack. The attached picture shows an MKII rack, above and to the left of the bowl drain screw on the left carb is the boss, coming out at about a 45 deg. angle. Gary -

The slides & butterflies will be the main differences, aside from the main bodies. If jetting is stock the MKI's will have 117.5 mains. MKII's had 125. If they are an 83 set there will be a vacuum port above throttle plate on #2 carb. Thread below has some info in it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57919 The carb rack will fit either MKI or MKII. Gary -
We had tornado warnings here about 5:30 PM last night. We were at a restaurant waiting on a friend & family from work. His parents were also coming. They are from Taiwan. They were late due to storm. Very intense rain & high winds, but no damage that I have seen. Gary

That's painful to watch !! 14.04 sec @ 96.01 sec. Neither one of them were getting any bite coming of the line. Skydoc said his 1st gen hit high 11's. Gary

Slow was factory standard equipment on the Royale Star Venture starting in 1999 and countinuing through the current model. It was added at the same time the Eyebrows were added so the new 2nd gen Star flagship wouldn't be mistaken for an Ultra HD in oncoming traffic. Gary

Shifting any one of these Ventures to 2nd at anything under 25mph and it is going to not be up in the rpm range these motors are happy at. These motors are really bullet proof, kryptonite don't even scare them. Gary

The correct answer probably is the same one used when anyone is talking about a Cleveland Pro sports team... There is always next year !!! Gary

I think it is KIC, didn't one of his first posts start with the phrase "A quick question...", very similar here, to much coincidence to be overlooked. I think we have a winner. Gary
