  1. Still could be heat related, but not in so far as vapor lock. The high heat could be aggravating a lingering pump issue. I looked for turn signals for you, but didn't find any. I have a parts bike I bought arriving tomorrow, I will see whats on it. Gary
  2. The drop in the volt meter might indicate the pump is sticking in the energized position and not releasing to pull back, thus keeping current flowing through coil in pump and dragging voltage down with it. Gary
  3. Salvage value is generally 10% of insurance payout. I would give $300 for it as it set in a second if it was close to me, just saying. Gary
  4. BKuhr answered correctly, but to add to his response, you can hook up to any one of the 4 carb intakes. At one point I had all 4 tied together, which did hep the pulsation seen on the PC when watching output of TCI, but I am not using that setup at this time. I do still use a very small vacuum 'can' I made out of 1-1/2" PVC and 2 caps. This acts as a buffer and smooths pulses out a lot. Gary
  5. I do not fore see doing another group buy in light of the issues some of us had with the last round of TCI's If anyone wants to do it, I will help them with setting it up. Gary
  6. Anything I have related to the Ignitech units is free for the asking. I will get you whatever info, or programs you need. PM me or # is in profile. Send me a email and I can send you some stuff. PM system here does not allow file transfers for security reasons. Do you have the USB~Com interconnect cable. Map sensor hookup is same as in the original thread started by TVKing. Gary
  7. Another connection besides the obvious TCI pair is the one from the pickup coils. It is on left side near shock damper. 6 pin plug with one empty spot. There is also another similar 6 pin plug there for the gear indicator, but all 6 are used in it. Gary
  8. They are on the way to me !! $40 for pistons & rods. Another one of many experiments. Thanks Cougar... Gary
  9. Anybody have a picture of a piston out of an RSV ? It would be interesting to see if they are domed. They had to do something in there to get a std 216 psi. The 1st gens 1300's are rated at 176 psi, 1200 are at 171 psi. Even the VMaxs are only at 206 PSI. I am rebuilding a 1300 1st gen as time permits and a set of RSV high compression pistons would be nice. I had the block milled .040 and got up to 185~195. Gary
  10. Or put a lower temp therm-o-stat in. This is a 200 deg. sensor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271015669717?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 or http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vmax-V-max-Coolant-Temperature-Lowering-Switch-Sender-/140779478144?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c71c5c80&vxp=mtr Picture of dash was when I pulled into garage & air temp was in 90's Also, a lesson learned when I had a bypass switch with an LED indicator in it was that the LED will back feed and blow the fan fuse. This happened in a repeatable state recently. The switch was providing 12V+ to the thermostat sensor on the blue wire. Gary
  11. Is this so you can check the oil level to within a knat's ass per chance? Gary
  12. If there is only a difference of 10 psi from the low to high, then it is within normally accepted range. 10% high to low is acceptable. I have a 10 psi difference on mine right after it was rebuilt. I did not replace rings as they were all well within tolerance. I had one at 195, two at 190 & one at 185. These are not normal compression readings BTW, motor has been modified a little. As far as going through the carbs, You have no idea what they have been treated like. At a minimum, check the diaphragms for pin holes around outer edge. Take fuel bowl cover off and see what inside looks like. See if the sliders operate freely. You should probably get (4) basic carb kits if you want to look at every thing. MiCarl can get these. They will be around $25 each. Carbs will have to be synced at a bare minimum. Gary
  13. If you decide to get the heads, I would be interested in the heads themselves after you get parts you need. Gary
  14. Ya, but technically, I am just standing by it thinking, 'This looks like a Shriner's minicycle'. Gary
  15. I didn't really answer his question very well now that I see all the replies & counter replies. I was still thinking how to erase my internet foot print where I admitted riding a German engineered HD, and sort of liked it. The shame of it all. Gary
  16. The 'relay' you hear is probably the fuel pump running to fill carb bowls. This will happen on almost every start up. Will be a series of clicks lasting less than 4 seconds. Gary
  17. For that one I have a very small suction bulb, Family heirloom actually, my dad used it back in 60's when he was splicing 8mm home movies together. I fill it to top, then use bulb to get 'some' out. I am guessing about a 1/2" below the bottom of the fill hole. Gary
  18. Just for the record, I would not take one even if it was to be offered as an even up trade for my 29 year old (per title) Venture !!!! Gary
  19. I try to keep mine to the top of the sight glass with handlebars centered. When I turn bars to left I can see air/fluid line. Gary
  20. At a minimum, put it on the center stand and check oil in sight glass on lower right side of motor block. If it half way up glass it is full. Gary
  21. I think this would have made Tweety sweat a little. Let alone Brown Dugar !! Gary
  22. Hell, I wouldn't know them if I saw them !! Gary
  23. Went for a demo ride on this today. Sort of drug along with my HD loving family, and the VRod was available when they were riding. It is the quickest HD I have ever rode, nice handling, but for me, a terrible seating position with way forward controls and handlebars. A little more and it would have been like sitting on floor and bending forward to touch your toes. I was able to give this some brisk accelerations and it was nice. 24. Here is the battery solution. I put battery where the coils & TCI used to be. Standard coils where replaced with coil over plug units from an R1. TCI is in radio pocket. This was done to allow room for the larger VMax air box. Battery is an AGM. With the battery out of the way, the air box could now be shortened in height to allow the throttle body to be installed.
