Several days ago as I left a meeting at our church, I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down. I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing. Suddenly I realized that I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot. My wife has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition. My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them. Her theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the doors of the church, I came to a terrifying conclusion. Her theory was right. The parking lot was empty. I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen. Then I made the most difficult call of all. “Honey,” I stammered. (I always call her “honey” in times like these.) “I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen.” There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard her voice, “Ken,” she barked, “I dropped you off!” Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, “Well, come and get me.” She retorted, “I will ... as soon as I convince this policeman that I have not stolen your car!”

Swing Arm side play
dingy replied to tommyp61's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The swingarm pin on the left side is 'fixed'. Tighten to 72 ft/lbs The one on the right side is the adjustable one. There is a black plastic cap on the end of the stud. 1st back the nut off the stud. Use an allen wrench to tighten the right side to 4.3 ft/lbs, this is after it has contacted the swing arm. This should remove any side to side play, if there still is any it isn't right. Then tighten the right side nut down against stud to 72/ft/lbs. Picture of pertinent sheet in manual attached, half way down on right side are steps. Gary- 8 replies

Right side of the dash, just below speaker. It is set into side of housing above the slotted grills that close off area that triple trees are below. I know that is clear as mud, but it is there. Gary -

Second Ignitech Aftermarket TCI group buy
dingy replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 3 pin connector wired into the TCI adapter cable hooks up to the supplied MAP sensor that I sent. Pictures attached. The 24" vacuum hose I sent goes from the left rear carb intake port (where carbtune hooks up) to the port on the MAP sensor I sent. There is a rubber plug in package, that will fit over the port on the 83 carb rack on the left front carb. The existing rubber hose, stock vacuum sensor & wiring are not used. Gary -

Second Ignitech Aftermarket TCI group buy

You need a TCIP4, 4channel, V80 TCI for a 1986 OLD Venture. Specifically say OLD Venture, that is what they call the 4 pickup coil bikes. I would try & get a V80 unit as opposed to the v88. There have been some of the V88 cut out briefly. Gary -
If you can't find this one on 5 acres, you better call a cab to drive you. Gary

Actually, my 1st thought was, 'I tawt I taw a Harley' but I don't want someone with a different sense of humor defacing the bike. Gary

I need suggestions for a cartoon caption to be put by the Tweety bird I have on each side of the trunk. Going to have Jaybird put something on at Freebirds this coming weekend. I have a similar Sylvester the cat emblem coming that will go on the rear center of trunk. He will have a cartoon caption reading '"I thawt I taw a Tweety Bird!" These are a metal key chain emblem that I have removed the round connector at the top and attached with automotive emblem glue. Looking for something sort of cute and funny, and not demeaning to anything. Might get a cage done around 1 of them, and something else on other one. MPG on the Venture
dingy replied to JohnMidnight's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
28~31 is pretty low for a stock 1300. I sent you a PM, email me your file that is programed into the TCI. I would think you should be in high 30's if you are riding it conservativley. I got 35 out of mine on a fairly reasonable run last week, but it has a Vmax final drive & rear wheel, both of which will lower the MPG's. Several other things in there also that don't help mileage, but that wasn't what I was looking for as I was building this scooter. Gary -
Weather forecast says in the 70's, much better than the one 2 years ago, close to 90's. Gary

Go to Ebay and search for 'venture power outlet' or item # 190624084109 There are several listed. Look at the 99 RSV Power Outlet. This one does not look to be in great shape, but others come up all the time that are in good shape. I have two of these on mine. Gary

Rear Cylinders dead.
dingy replied to mechanic1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The green connector you found is for a bike sold in California, it is on all the bikes, but only hooked up in Cali. bikes. Per the specs in the manual, your compression readings are on the low side. Valve will be a good first thing to check. Are these readings with the throttle wide open? Also, I have some spare coils if you find you need any. I don't use conventional coils on this bike, went to coil over plugs. Gary
