  1. I found a picture of a filter on ebay when I searched RSV fans. I think I will just make a jumper for this filter since I am not planning on a radio on bike. Gary
  2. Not really trying to keep hijacking your thread, albeit a humorous thread, but .... I cannot locate in the service manual, or the parts fiche a picture of the fan noise filter. I have found it on the schematics. I have located the wires that go into either end of the filter by color codes and ohming out where they end up at.. The two connectors for the filter seem to be spaced apart somewhat, so I am guesing the filter has leads on it. This is a guess. A picture of it would be helpful so I can try to locate one on ebay. Picture attached of schematic reference to filter. Another item I haven't located on the harness is the diode assembly connector Gary
  3. Pickup coil connector is on left side near the shock damper. Pull side cover off and find a 6 pin connector that has five wires used in it. The common wire to the pickup coils is the black wire, this is the one that is next to the empty terminal. The other four wires go to each pick up coil. There will be another six pin connector in there, this one has all six pins used, it is the gear indicator output lead. Ohm meter reading to the male pin side of connector should be 93 to 126 ohms from the common to each of the other four connectors. It seems somewhat important that they all read about the same, but I don't have any proof of this. Then hook one side of ohm meter to a good chassis ground and check each of the connectors again, there should be infinite ohm reading to ground, not Zero ohms, this is a short. Check this connection for dirt or corrosion. On the replacement TCI kits I sell, I include this connector, due to problems I have seen it create. Gary
  4. Pinwall typically does not respond to emails. Phone # is 330-879-9910 Gary
  5. Few more measurements below. This is only comparing 1 slider from each carb (MKI & MKII). Weight differences: MKI 43g MKII 44g ID of large inner hole on slider is same. Length of sliders is 2.622" Spring difference: MKI 6.5" long uncompressed MKII 7.0" long uncompressed Wire dia. same on both versions Coil OD same on both versions Needle protrusion beyond slider is same Tip of needle difference: MKI .040" dia MKII .050" dia Gary
  6. My previous post on slider dia. being different was incorrect. I swapped some emails with another member regarding this. I have a spare MKI 84 rack (34mm) and a spare MKII rack (35mm). Went out in garage and popped a slider cover off each one. The sliders are the same diameter. 1.178" OD (29.9mm). The hole in the inner end of the slider is different between the two sliders. The 84 is .091" dia. The 88 sliders hole is .135" dia.. 1st picture shows end inner end view of both sliders. The needles are different between the sliders, but I have no way of verifying they are stock. The 84 had the security torx screw in the slider cover, but the 88 did not, so 88 has been opened at some point in its life. 2nd picture is an MKI venturi dia & 3rd picture is an MKII venturi dia. Only difference I know of between the MKI & MKII on the outside, other than venturi dia., is a chamfer difference on the lower dia. of the carb body. 4th picture is MKI & 5th picture is an MKII. Gary
  7. 83-85 will be a different dia. due to being 34mm. 86-93's & VMaxs are 35mm venturi's. Gary
  8. I would really appreciate a bunch of close up pictures of your bike apart. Motor, cooling hoses, battery box area, rear suspension, handlebar cable routing. I'll PM you an email address if your willing to help. I am using an RSV as a basis for my winter project and have zero hands on experience with this scooter. 1st gens is a little different story, a box of nuts & bolts, I know right where they go. Picture is what it looks like tonight, went through and labeled all wiring connectors. Have 1st gen front end on it. Gary
  9. Pictures attached of a couple I have. Bob can say if one of these is better than what he has. Shipping cost only. Gary
  10. Bezinga !!! Gary
  11. Thought you should know that the book "Understanding Women" is now out in paperback. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/Understandingwomenbook.jpg
  12. And I thought it was another gun control thread. Gary
  13. Was $2.95 till yesterday, now it's $3.29 at corner gas station. Mansfield, Ohio Gary

  15. Maybe you could learn to try motorcycle posts instead of this crap constantly !! I give this thread very little time. Gary
  16. This is just an old industrial xray that is on its last legs, have to check tomorrow to see what it is. I'm not qualified on it, so I recruited co-worker that is to take picture. It is functional to a point, but some of the mechanical manipulators in the chamber are inoperative. Only took about 10 minutes including startup to get picture I have. Its a digital image, not on Xray film like medical quality. We have an extremely high res 3D CT scanner paper work going through to replace it. It can tell the difference between gold and silver on a circuit board based on atomic structure. It will be able to scan an inanimate object and output a point cloud that I can import into 3D CAD software and make very accurate comparisons between a real part & one I created in CAD to verify production tolerances. It can take a video of a scan through a multi layer circuit board at astonishing resolution. We make the controls that are in water heaters, the thermal cutouts that are in coffee pots, hair dryers and a lot of other small appliances, so accurate production and ability to verify it is crucial. 17. Pay no attention to the cobwebs on the bike in the background, it's a 2nd gen, doesn't go fast enough to blow them off. Gary http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/DSC03462.jpg Oberlin 2012, Don's bike in background.
  18. After Steve mentioned getting an X-ray for it, it occured to me I have that ability at work. It appears the upper body is cast around the stud which has a head on part inbedded in the top end. Xray attached. view is with head to top, handlebar cutout almost center top. Stud is dark object in center. Gary
  19. What is in the 1st two pictures is the part in question. This came off a stock 2003 RSV. Stock insofar as I am aware, my 2nd gen experience is very limited. What I am unsure of is if the stud threads into the upper body or was part of the same casting & then machined. If it is a separate stud, and can be removed from upper body, then I can put it in a lathe and turn it down the small amount needed. If it is not a stud, then I need to drill out the 1st gen triple trees I am using. I would rather put it in a lathe, I can be more accurate with that option. Gary
  20. Any one know if the handlebar riser on a 2nd gen is a one piece or two piece item? I do not see any appearance of it being a stud threaded into the upper body, if it is it has to be countersunk I need to either turn down the stud on the riser or drill out the hole on the 1st gen triple trees I am using on the Hybrid project in order to get the 2nd gen bars on the 1st gen triple tree. Only about 0.030" difference, but it is a non-standard hole size in the 2nd gen triple tree, 0.550". There is enough shaft size that it could be turned down to fit and not get into the threads on shaft. A 9/16 (0.562) drill will work to open up triple tree if I put some shim stock I have around riser shaft. Gary
  21. Look at thread below. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38549 Gary
  22. A clutch side switch will also work for you. Wire color codes are different, but function wise it is the same when plugged in. Gary
  23. Very nice work Peggy, It's good to keep busy doing something you enjoy like this. Gary
  24. Have never heard of this happening and have been around bikes for 5 decades. Not saying it couldn't happen though. But I would think improper installation would be a factor if it did. Gary
  25. I looked at spare 85 trunk I have and I see the different rubber feet you want. Attached a crappy picture of them for reference for others. Don't need the 84 trunk, I parted out the 84 a few months ago. Thanks for offer. I have all 4 feet from the 84 trunk that you can have though it looks like you need 2, picture attached. I don't want to remove parts from 85 trunk though, I am going to try and sell it intact, it's in decent shape. Gary
