  1. Wayne, I have an 84 trunk that the bottom half is junk. It appears to have the same feet. Also my 83 has same feet. I will take a them off and send them to you. Or do you want them to go to Bob. He has connector package for you. Or I can send another connector and feet to you. Gary
  2. I have a shock I just took off an 84 if you are interested in it. You can replace the shock without major dis-assembly of rear end. Gary
  3. One of my memorable ones was when I was 10 and got a Red Ryder BB gun. Still can see out both eyes, despite Ralphie's mom's warning about 'Your gonna shoot your eye out'. Gary
  4. Few more pictures of parts setting on bike to help me get an idea what I have here. Front end is from an 86 1st gen. Wheels are from a 2005 VMax. Major 2 hurdles are front exhaust tubes and an air cleaner setup that is a tad smaller than the RSV stock unit, shown setting on lift in couple of pictures. Gary
  5. At least your getting it for free. I have a lot of parts you are going to need on this adventure, and I need to clean out storage area. Speaking of ebay finds, I thought I found Tweety for sale on ebay. Have to copy & paste it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330841579536?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Gary
  6. Has he done anything with a 1st gen Vmax or a 1300 1st Gen Venture? I would be interested if he has. Gary
  7. It will fit a VMax 1st gen as well. (85-07) Gary
  8. I have some extra wires & coils if you want to try used ones. Gary
  9. Have made a little progress this week with winter project. Made a stand that will be used to temporarily support frame during initial motor fitment and suspension work. It's not pretty but will only be used for this phase.. I have an old 1200 block setting in frame at this point to see where major obstacles will be in putting a 1st gen/VMax motor into the RSV frame. Motor fits the six mount points that the 1st gen uses in the 2003 RSV frame. The front head brackets will not be used. I have a set of VMax heads for this project that will be on a modified 1300 block. I don't think a v-boost system will be possible with this setup due to the use of the RSV fuel tank & air intake components. I don't think the taller V-boost setup has a chance of fitting. Considering another option to use in place of the V-boost for that snap at about 6k rpm's. Rear exhaust down tubes look to be usable with very little modification. Front down tubes are going to be a challenge. The front motor mount bracket will need some modification to allow the front tubes to pass bracket. Seriously considering using a 1st gen MKII front end I have intsead of the RSV front end. The RSV unit is massive compared to a 1st gen unit. I don't have the wheels for the RSV, so I want to use a set of VMax wheels on this. The fork spread is over an inch wider than the 1st gen which would make the use of the VMax wheels improbable. I have tried the 1st gen triple tree in the RSV frame and it matches what is needed. I like the styling of the RSV fender more than the 1st gen, but It may not get used. I think I can mount the RSV handlebars & controls on the 1st gen upper tree bracket with minimal modification. I will have to set tank on frame to see if there will be a clearance issue with this change. Bike will be a single seater with no fairing, saddle bags etc. Minimal instrumentation, no radio. Looking at a VMax instrument pod & speedometer. Have a VMax final drive for it. Gary
  10. It will help the bike take off better. The VMax gears give a 3.667 ratio compared to a Ventures 3.300 ratio. This is about a 9% difference in take off power. Both rears have 33 teeth on the driven gear (ring gear). The Vmax has 9 tooth driving gear (pinion gear) and the Venture has 10 tooth driving gear. Though it will help your low end, that power increase comes at a price, the gas mileage will decrease some, but probably not by the 9% gear ratio difference. This is due having more power available in 5th and not lugging the motor. Gary
  11. I received the TCI's from Ignitech. Waiting on the MAP sensors. Sensors have been shipped via DHL and I will probably have them Tuesday or Wednesday. I have the other small included items & USB/Com cables if you requested one already. I will get units wired & tested to send out no later than Dec. 9th, which is about what I anticipated to ship them. Anyone that paid me $260 will get a refund of $5.00 due to lower cost MAP sensor over what was originally planned. Cost is $255 now. I have a few extras available at this time. Gary
  12. Email it to me & I can get it into one PDF file. I also could put it on Scribe?? hosting site. email is gary(at) dinges.com Gary
  13. Now try riding it instead of putting money into it. Ya would think it was a 1st gen, but then we know better, it's low & SLOW. Cobwebs were still on it at MD last year. !! Gary
  14. I think it is the dealer assembly manual, for when they uncrate bike. Might be some interesting setup stuff in it. Gary
  15. Might let you know what that feels like this spring. Gary
  16. I think you two need to give each other a big wet Cyber Kiss and get over it. Charlie was to much fun to pick on. Then there is FourPaws , nuff said. Gary
  17. This has somewhat adult content - Was on Yahoo News, but you may not want to explain each little item to your 13 year old - I warned you. Title was supposed to say views swapped, not vies swapped. http://screen.yahoo.com/flip-side-dating-000000612.html Gary
  18. 10" shoots plan A in the buttocks. 1st Gen is 11 1/4" C/L. This isn't a huge difference in itself, but my 1st thought was machine off the bottom mount point on a 1st gen and bolt a 2nd gen compatible lower mount on. Top mount would need to be machined to reduce thickness where upper bolt goes through. Top would be easy. dealing with the different lower mount will be challenge. 2nd gen has a yoke, 1st is a boss type mount. Picture is from an 83 shock, this year didn't have the external spring, just one that was convenient to measure and show difference. Gary
  19. Thank You !! Gary
  20. Could someone get the C/L spacing of the mount holes on a 2nd gen shock & post it?? Couple of pictures would be nice. Getting started on the Hybrid RSV and am exploring the possibility of putting a modified 1st gen shock on it. The milk crate is temporary till I get a lift stand from Carbon One. Gary
