New sounds coming from front end. What is it?
footsie replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
when don't they suck, I did not like mine wet, dry or any other condition Gregg -
I have either went off the deep end, jumped into midlife crisis. Or maybe just gone plain crazy, but at 53 I have decided that I want a boss hoss, not a 502 or anything like that just a plain 350 boss hoss. When you look at them from a sensible point of view they are completely unrealistic over kill, there is absolutely no need for a 350 hp motorcycle, much 700 hp one. But I sure do want one. and then there is the price, I will need to take up donations!!!!!!!!!! Oh well guess I will do with out. who else want one gregg

I agree with goose on one point here, get the the brickstones off and you solve most of the preceived handling problems, the RSV is a different bike from the wing or the hd. Take one for a 500 mile ride and then you will know, and I think you will want one after that, in the saddle on the road is how to make the final decision on the bike to purchase. By the way I have had both RSV and Goldwing's 1800 and 1500. gregg

I work in the hospital, ICU mainly but help in the er at times, I have seen it both ways, someone with out gear and those with full gear. I have seen a rider with no gear that fell on the interstate with minimal injuries, and with fatal injuries. I have riders with complete riding gear boots, armor jackets and pants with the best of helmets dead with a broken neck BECAUSE of the helment, seen the same come get checked out and go home. Folks believe what you want to when your time comes, its over. And by the yes I do concider my family in every thing I do. I have life insurance that will cover me if I am killed on my bike. I made sure of that when I purchased it. Ok me myself, I ride a bike for the freedom, I like to feel the wind, what is the point of a motorcycle. If become so afraid that I might get hurt riding a bike that I have to wear so much protective gear that I am so uncomfortable, and can not feel the wind and freedom of ridding, I will sell the bike and ride in Karren's convertible. Now my best friend puts his helmet on and jacket to pull across the street, and thats just fine too. Wear want you want, what ever you a comfortable ridding in, but never ever think that you a protected on a bike. Vigilant no distracted, observing everthing around you is the best policy, ride safe not safer crashing. Just my opinion, which like everyone elses, like rear ends everybody has one and most stink. I have seen not one but three Ventures with greater than 250,000 miles and still on the road, 1 is in Fitzgerad Ga. 278,000 the last time I saw it at Martin motors before Jim close his shop, bike was in for oil change and a new rear tire. No 2 was at the Yamaha tent in daytona 268,000 with all its service records, according to the reps at the tent still a daily rider. No 3 was a 2000 model with 380,000, the gut was at the gas in go in cordele when I pulled up to get gas, talked with him about his bike he said he had replaced the rear end at 200,000 with a V-max rear end. they are tough machines The only peice of advice I have, is when you test ride one, take on a good long ride, at least 150 miles, the RSV is great bike, but you have to get to know it. I LOVE MINE , do not want anything else Gregg- 29 replies

I have a table lift would not take anything for it, best thing since sliced bread. Use it regularly, is exceptionally good for cleaning and polishing the bike. Gregg Don when you buy anything from harbor freight, give them you address and they will send you the coupons in the mail, as long as you buy something every few months,

My 04 had dropped to 35 to 38 mpg, but I replaced the plugs and it came back up into the 40 - 47 range, the only time I have gotten 50 mpg was running 55 mph on the 2 lanes. My 00 however was excellent on gas it would do 50 mph, but it was the laziest bike I have ever owned, removing the AIS help it some but it just did not have any power. was smooth as silk, great millage but Bobbies 07 electra glide would stay right with it. There is a very simple way to modify the rsv muffler to get a good rumble, and you will not be able to see that they have been changed, they will look perfectly stock. there are several threads in the second generation tech. Simple proccess of taking a dremal tool and a cut off wheel stick up the output end of the muffler and cut the tube into, and then prize over to the side, and you then have straight through exhaust, thats sound good but not too loud. I was wondering if anyone knows if the new v-max rear wheel will fit the RSV Gregg

This was my mod, your welcome to all those that said thanks gregg -
No yall Yamaha has learned something other companies can not seem to learn, If it aint broke don't fix it. The RSV as far as I am concerned is the best overall bike there is, I have rode just about every kind of bike available, and I really like the RSV best. I am gald that there is one thing that does not change. Gregg
