I wanted a chock that I didnt have to do a bunch of tie downs or need 2 people to hold it and tie down so I went with the Baxley Chock. yeah, i know its expensive, but i wanted it in my trailer and feel very secure with it holding my bike. I feel with just strapping the back forward allows the bikes suspension to work hopefull not breaking any parts or seals when going over bumps. I just ride the bike in, get off, and pull the back of the bike forward into the chock with 2 straps and the bike has not ever moved and its been down to California and back. http://www.baxleycompanies.com/ Brian

There is never anything as hearbreaking as seeing children perish. You can know that you did as much as you could by helping out and with your kind wordsand actions. I hope you can put this behind you but its never easy seeing something like this. Make sure you give your family an extra hug and kind word tonight and lean on them, it will help. Brian

U Sure? i know my 85 Royales console is the same as the 86 and up, and is the same as the one on the right on Dingys pics. I know its different from 83 which is the pic on the left. -
it sounds like you had better plan to make it to the Venturerider Intl rally next July in Cody WY. There will be a bunch of touring ideas for anyone that shows up for the fun. Brian

hey Rick Sounds like you guys had a great ride and the stuff that happens along the way just makes the trip more enjoyable in some aspects as it slows you down and you get to know some great people. If youre going up to yellowstone next summer I hope you can make it during the INtl Rally. Brian

I bought the defender pants when they were on sale last spring, and i love em! much cooler than chaps and way better protection too as you have Kevlar on your butt that chaps dont even cover. I think it was Big bob here that had said that the nurse that helped him after his slide said that jeans burn thru in about a foot of asphalt, leather lasts 2 or 3 feet and kevlar seemed to get 15 feet or more. So after hearing that i try to wear kevlar as much as i can. The pants fit so well i even went back and ordered some of their regular jeans....i luv em!! Brian

I am failry sure 86 and 87 would be same but not exactly 100 % sure. Maybe have a look at partshark.com in their fiche section and see if part numbers match between the years. Brian -
I think health care everywhere needs a little healthy compettition in pricing to get costs back in line. While I dont pay for any of my health services when i have them, they still cost me a bunch in taxes.I think the health care system i live in works very well for the most part, BUT, if theres an option to go somewhere cheaper and reasonible maybe my health care system will look at an evaluate off shore services too... Brian PS please dont let this thread go political.....its good to get some info out from time to time.

Oil Warning Light
friesman replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 85 does that too under hard acceleration. I always have the oil halfway in the glass and I dont burn any so its ok. It still kinda unnerves me when it happens, but I am getting used to it. I really noticed under hard accelleration in a steep incline, when i was at Kruisn the Koots rally the mountain passes were fun with a good bit of accelleration. Brian -

Ur right, it does look cooked to me too, I know the tci's are getting hard to find, so i do wish you luck in finding a good deal on an oem one. there is a thread in here where some guys ordered new replacements from Ignitech, a Czech company. they are a generic module, but some of the guys have had good luck with their custom programming. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40414&highlight=replacement+tci brian -
I love the henderson! and like and use Stumbleupon all the time. It has found so many sites that I never would have found otherwise. Caution! it is a big time filler though! Brian

If time is a concern i would go to Walmart and buy a roll of their amber tape desgned for temporary fixes for signal lights. And you maybe be able to use packing tape to secure the windshield depending on how bad the crack is. I might run some heavy duty plastic cement into the cracks on windshield and then tape over top until you can find a new windshield. Be careful though, you dont want to have pieces of the windshield coming back at you at hiway speed. Brian

There is an issue with the wires getting corroded in the cap of the coil. maybe ensure the wires are tight and that the wires are connected and clean. If the wires are old try some new ones, they arent that expensive, especially compared to trying to find a TCI. Brian -
wow this bike has the fatboy tires on front and rear. I am having trouble seeing how you would even ride this, but some are saying with the bigger footprint on the road it will handle better. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2010/08/pl_motor_jafm/ Whaddya think? pretty different huh? Brian

I bought mine from the Walmart store, I found that they have different assortments online or in the store. Its a good reasont to go for a ride! Brian
