  1. Three things that can happen: 1) The bike has been sitting for some time and the rotor gets a little rusty, but not under the brake pad, maybe some salt on the rear rotor to help this along. When you apply the brakes they will pulsate, but mostly it clears up with some riding but not always. 2) The brake pads are riding too tight on the rotor, either from your foot on the pedal, even resting it there can do it, or from improper return of the fluid after you let off the brake pedal. This would cause excessive heat build up and cause the rotor to warp. 3) The same as #2 but instead you get a hot spot on the rotor giving you the same problem. If it's your foot, or rust then I agree with the dealer, if it's not, something needs to done about the brake system, and that would be their problem.
  2. Get 'er going and don't stop and you'll be just fine. The only time 'top heavy' means anything is when you are stopped,,, at that point keep the front wheel pointing straight ahead and then get rolling before you turn,,, also watch where you're gonna put a foot down,, that it's not in a low spot,,,enjoy your ride.
  3. Somebody mentioned some time ago that they thought you were crazy,,,,,seeing as I should be nice and agree with someone here, I'll agree,,,,but only just to be nice.
  4. Guess we've been tooo quiet lately boys,,,,,now the boss is trying to stir things up,,, I think it's time we get back to our regular old selves,,,, at least Squidley claims he can still see.
  5. The clutch bolts are soft, not brittle, and the reason for that is stretch,as mentioned before. Not a good idea to install a different kind of bolt, the engineers designed it that way for a reason, but that's all much too technical for me, so some else will have to explain that.
  6. You should use the same bolt, your local dealer may have a used one laying around, and the torque is 6 inch pounds which is hardley called tight and can't be measured on a foot lbs wrench.
  7. For your info: Things like the clutch springs need to be torqued, so that they are all even and you get no chatter, the axles need to be torqued to spec's or you'll run the risk of loosening off and loosing a wheel, or bad alingment so you get a wobble. In some cases too tight is not good, not enough flex or movement, in other cases too loose and things fall off,,, then you need a trailer. In a lot of cases, good and tight is quite acceptable where the issue is not critical, in other cases too tight can break a bolt, such as in the clutch springs (6 in pounds only),, don't ask me how I know. I have two click wrenchs now, an 3\8 inch pounds and a 1\2 foot pounds. Doesn't take long to get them out and they're handie for other things as well.
  8. They have to get a bigger plane I thinks
  9. Maybe that explains why the 1st gens are so much faster,,, last I looked I could see at least 2 carbs, but then when I got around to the other side,, there they were again,, not sure now of the total count, but it at least has two,,,, and maybe 2 more for spares.
  10. I'd say from your discription: That is Venture, enjoy it, you have to only bike on the road to make that noise, and when you hear it, you know you have a brother nearby.
  11. Best always to have one spare belt with you when you ride one of those setups, you had one, you just needed to grab it, but then what would hold your pants up???????
  12. Keep in mind that they 83..85's are different than the 86..93's And yes you have my interest.
  13. Now don't complain until they give you Ontario,, then you'll be in deep kaka.
  14. Thanks Charlie Carl
  15. Well it's congrats time then is it,,, just wonder who doing the more expecting??????? Wish both of you the best time in the months ahead.
