  1. Thanks Gary,, I'll take the one that works for ever and keep it on the scoot for a spare. looks like about a 5 minute job to change it, now that I know where it's at. Let me know what I owes for it. Carl
  2. So now I'm ticked! Took off the windshield and the headlight and got to the relays, all nicely lined up on a steel bar under all that stuff, had to decide which relay was the culprit,,, kind of a guessing game seeing a nobody told me which one it was or is. All of a sudden the fuel pump is working again, at least for a few ticks but I wasn't sure what I was touching at the time,,, shucks we'll do this again,,, NO LUCK the second time, and I felt sure I was going to have to post the question: which one is it, for the wire colors didn't match up. But then I thought, what have I got to loose? just hit one with a hammer and see if it cries out in pain, if it does it must be alive so the dead one has to be another. So I grabbed the closest hammer,,, it was a bit heavier than the last time I used it and I whaled away,,,,,NOT, but I did tap the relay on the steel frame and low and behold the fuel pump started running and runs fine since. Now the question is: what's the chances of this thing continuing on working, or should I threaten it every week with that hammer? Should I replace it? or will it, should it keep working. Professional opinions please!
  3. Guess one thing I forgot, was that when I turn the key to ON I now hear a taping or clicking in the dash board,,, maybe that is related??? It does this for about 1\2 minute then stops.
  4. Guess you got the answer by now,,,, good luck
  5. Looks real good,,,nice job!!
  6. I didn't remove mine, left it in and wired it to the acc screw,, works just fine.
  7. So you're in and I'm in, that makes 2 of us,,, I wonder who's going to volunteer to be # 10?
  8. My fuel pump won't run on it's own. Does fine when wired direct, but won't run in the circuit. The positive wire has momentary power when I turn the key on with the pump disconnected. So where might be my issue. It actually left me stuck just one block away from home tonight.... not nice, although it sure was quiet riding it downhill for about half the distance.
  9. According to their website their flat rate includes insurance and brokerage.... but at a $40 base fee, it could get quite expensive to order something from them. Once the cost of the item is over $500 it starts to become a bit more reasonable.
  10. What is the date on the tire. You can find the date stamp in an oval pressed into the side wall of the tire. Maybe what you are experiencing is a flat spot, or maybe better said a ridge on your rear tire. If you don't lean much the rear tire tends to get flat area in the center and then when you take a corner it flops over the ridge onto the side tread. You might mistake this for slippage.
  11. By the way,,,, what's with the carbs that you think you have to pull them apart?
  12. WHAT????? no road this summer,,, you need some help again???? Don't know about the carb kit thing, but the red hose would be original and easy to replace. Don't take it out until you have a new one, then just screw them together and pull the new one in as you take tho old one out. Maybe be able to find some time to visit,,, you never know!
  13. So now when you push the button, is there power at the horn,,, unhook the wires from the horn to test this.
  14. Could be the first of many, so get ready for spoilage!
  15. Is there power to the relay?
  16. Next time you'll do well to take notice of the spelling,,,, some ladies can get quite upset about that!!!
  17. Is there power to the horn when you push the button?
  18. Might I suggest something back yard: Clean up the hole, ruff it up a bit with coarse sand paper, and then fill it with JB weld. Give it at least 24 hours cure time. In the mean time, clean up the shaft with fine steel wool and get a measurement on it, so that you can drill new hole into the shifter. Keep it well greased and you should never have to worry about it again. If it does go again, should you ride that scoot that long, then you will have experience in just how to do it.
  19. Try this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67645&highlight=trailer+hitch
  20. WOW,,, the camera worketh,,, and somebody else did some work as well,,,,,,, so when is MD?
  21. Good end to a long story,,, now let's pray that the future has many glorious sunrises.
  22. Nice job,, let us know that ball setup works out.
  23. If it's an 86, then tings you'll need to have done, either already done or shortly in the future: - Carb diaphragms, - Grease the swing arm with maybe some parts if the grease has left. - Steering head bearings will need to be adjusted and greased - Wheel bearings should be serviced at least. - Class system needs to be serviced. - Brake cylinders need to be taken apart and serviced as well as the clutch cylinders. - Grease the speedo cable and speedo head. - Take apart electrical connectors to clean a lubricate. - Check for cracks in the plastic, especially around the connection joints. Seems like quite a list, but it's all doable. The only real cost would the carb diaphragms.
  24. If it's been sitting for a long time,, the Class has probably not been serviced,,, so you need to get into it to solve the leakage issue. The pump and solenoids are located under the trunk. You'll need to dry out the silica gel to keep things dry and then if I were you, I would take the solenoids apart to make sure they are sealing properly and are corrosion free. By the time you take the pump assembly out and put it back in, you'll solve any leakage in the connections.
