  1. or just better sound quality? Also, what model J & M did you upgrade? Was it one of their newer elite models?
  2. I know what your thinking and I can hear the lectures coming. I don't as a practice ride with no hands. I was resting one the other day and being very, very diligent with the other. For a brief moment when switching over my grip on the bars was very light and I felt what seemed like a wobble from the front end. I was curious so I followed up by slowly lightening my hand pressure from the grips. Sure enough just when I am about to not be touching the grips anymore the front starts to wobble. I have not let it go long, but it seems that it would get very prononced. Is this normal? As I said I don't ride with no hands and I don't ever feel this when holding the grips. Even with one hand. Could this be an out of balance tire or is it something else? Bug
  3. looks like they did a really nice job. The price is not bad either especiall since I am not looking for studs. I will add that to my considerations. Bug P.S. How long did they have your seat?
  4. I learned too late (or researched too little before buying) that my low cost off brand GPS does not make map updates available. It also does not give me a way to add POIs like the ones you have pointed out. Don't get me wrong it does an adequate job of getting me from point a to point b and back again, but for $50 - $100 it could do much, much more. Live and Learn! Bug
  5. take time and rent a raft if the weather is nice. I visited several times while stationed out there and, and the last time I went a buddy and I rented a raft in the park and took a float trip. On the Merced I believe it is. It gave a whole different perspective of the park than just driving through and stopping at the overlooks. Don't get me wrong the drives are great, but the raft trip was a really great bonus to an already great trip. Bug
  6. so there should be no problems with 07 that would not also be in 08. I've heard of very few problems, relatively speaking on these bikes. The 5 year warranty is great if there are problems. As for the windhield there is a lot of debate on that. Many prefer to look through the shied, and in fact buy larger aftermarket shields for more wind protection, especially for the passenger. The ones from Clearview Shields allow you to use rain X on them. I an considering getting a shorter shield, but don't know how the wife will like the change in back. I say BUY IT! Bug
  7. and what did it cost? Did they do a complete rebuild or just reshaping? Pics? Prices? Bug
  8. in King George because there is no one else around. You have to be persistent and always check your bike in the parking lot before leaving. After buying my bike used I took it in for scheduled service. I rode away and 3 miles down the rode noticed smothing I had told them about when I went in. I had to take i back several times to get it right. If you go there be firm about what you know is wrong. After being resolute they have fixed my ehaust and cracked intake manifold as warranty repair. bug
  9. it's always nice to cross one off the bucket list. We are riding the BRP on our way back from the Asheville rally in August, but don't have the time for the Dragon. Maybe next year. Glad you had a nice trip and hopefully you didn't need those pretty blue Frog Toggs! I met you outside Gander Mountain a few weeks ago on a rainy Saturday as you were giving them their first ride! Bug
  10. I thought my seat was fine, but on the recent trip to Charlotte. I got really uncomfortable after 4 -5 hours. I have pillowtops on mine. http://www.hartcoseats.com/yamaharoyalstarventure.html
  11. I just bought mine from the Hardley dealer since they have them in stock. Tried Yamaha dealer first, but of course they would have to be ordered. I could find nothing at the autopart stores either. I don't remember the bulb number. I just told the person at the counter the make/model/year. If you search online I think you can find them at JP Cycles or JC whittney a little cheaper.
  12. I too am sorry to miss this opportunity, but we have previous plans in place. Trimster- I hope you guys have a great stay. It is a very beautiful area of our state. I don't know how much riding you will be up for, but you are just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Also, I would recommend seeing the National D-Day memorial in Bedford, VA while you are in the area. In my opinion it surpasses many that are in DC. http://http://www.dday.org/
  13. I wear a full face modular helmet and I wear earplugs and it seems to cut out much of the wind and road noise. It makes the sound from the radio and intercom easier to understand. The wife just started wearing a modular as well and that stopped a lot of the wind and road noise as well compared to her 3/4 with face shield. There are times when I turn the radio down to have a conversation, but for on again off again comments and short conversations it works out fine. I would like it if the intercom would override the radio, but I don't want to have to flip a switch or push a button to talk either.
  14. I am considering this led brake/taillight but would like to replace the red cover with a clear one that will match the turn signals. I have searched but I am having a hard time finding a clear lens for my 05 RSV. Anyone know where I can find one?

    New Bike

I have an 05 RSV and love it. I bought it used a year ago and definately don't regret it. Most of the issues people have had are fairly minor and are covered by the 5 year warranty on the venture.
  16. I thought I had read a post where someone mounted the satellite antenna under the fairing, but I can't find it now. 1. Has anyone done this with success? 2. If so, have you been out on the road where there is only signal from the satellite and not from terrestrial repeaters. Thanks
  17. We will be taking a weekend trip from Fredericksburg, VA to my sister's house in Charlotte. Normally we take 360 to 58 to 29 out of VA into Greensboro and then get on 85. This is the first bike trip to her house and that's what we will probably do on the way down. There does not appear to be a good alternative for 85 between Greensboro and Charlotte. On the way back was considering Rte 49 all the way up and across Kerr Lake until I hit 360. Any info on this road, particularly in NC or any other road suggestions.
  18. I hit it so often that I'm not going to believe it when the bike actually quits. I guess being a fairly new rider helped the first few times as I just worked my way through the starting process I learned in MSF course. I always found the switch issue. Now I know immediately what I have done.
  19. You could get this adqapter from Kennedy and hook a FRS radio into your audio system? http://www.cellset.com/frset.html

    Covers

Don't know if you're interested, but I keep a half cover when traveling. It saves a lot of space. I also use it all summer if I'm going to be off the bike for a while. It reallly keeps the bike a lot cooler that without it. I use the XL http://www.newenoughhp.com/accessories/covers/nelson_rigg/uv_2000_motorcycle_half_cover.html http://www.newenoughhp.com/image/path/7277/small/Default.jpg?1203996331

  22. but still fun to ride. If you get a chance take a demo ride. If I had $15,000 in spare change, it would be fun, but I will not be trading my bike in for one.
  23. You just gave me a new thougt about how I am going to install mine.
  24. Congratulations on the new addition!!! Round about year 13 you're gonna want to make room for her in the garage.:rotf:
  25. I subscribe to sirius and love it! Someone asked me the other day if it was woth it and I gave a resounding yes. I would give up my cell phone before my satellite radio. I don't have the money for the zumo, but it does look convenient to run the radio through the GPS. One question I would have is if the radio can be controlled while navigating. I bought a cheapo gps with mp3 and you have to leave the navigation area to play the mp3s. kinda defeats the purpose.
