  1. Safe and Happy riding. I'll be daydreaming I was out there with you while I'm at work!
  2. especially the fairing; inside and out! I will definately be looking to test ride one if an opportunity arises. I can't buy anything new for a couple of years and I hope Yamaha does something to impress me by then!
  3. when I first fell in love with the RSTD. Red / Black '05 I don't remember when I have liked anything more. I did like the look of the RSV front fairing and the thought of having the builtin audio seemed nice to me after trying 20 different setups for sound on my Vulcan. Last summer, I had a line on two bikes an 05 RSTD and an 05 RSV. The RSTD eventually ended up falling through and I bought the RSV. I was happy to be off the vulcan and was pleased with the RSV, but at first I was little sad becuse I really liked the RSTD better. Well, after a little over a year later I am glad it went the way it did. Originally, I thought the trunk and permanently attached fairing was too much, but now even if I could take them off I probably never would. If I had bought the RSTD I would have been going through all the mods trying to figure out how to add a tour pak and how to hook up audio and intercom, etc... It would have ended up more money to get what I have now. I did see a mod for making the RSV trunk removable without a lot of trouble, and while it does look good, I find myself wondering when I would ever do it? I almost never just cruise town. Wehn I go to work it's great for my computer bag, and on a trip it would be impossible to live without. I know not everyone is the same. Just thought I would share my experience. I hope it helps you out.
  4. I have sirius and like it best for the content. NFL, Nascar, Howard Stern, etc... The music and news / talk stations are pretty much equal. xm does have MLB and Oprah. Also, most of my friends have XM and their receivers seem to hold up better than sirius radios. If I were buying xm I would pick up a roady xt. Two of my friends have them and i like them a lot. As for the merger the plan as it stands is that your current equipment will continue to work and each company will offer a bonus package of stations for about $4. Sometime late this year or early next year they are supposed to release new equipment that will allow alacarte programming. I am waiting for that before I buy again. Hope this helps
  5. A little out of my price range right now. I already had the Sat Radio and My $89 GPS is not as nice but get's me where I'm going. Also, I may consider it again when we find out what the results of the merger are going to be. I am not switching to xm programming. I do have a couple of questions about the Zumo though. 1. When I switch to play either MP3s or Sat Radio can I go back to the navigation screen and leave the music playing and just have the GPS voice over the music for my turns? My current GPS has a MP3 player but I must leave navigation mode to get to the music which kinda defeats the purpose. 2. Will the Zumo synch with Itunes like an ipod or will I have to convert all music to a different format?
  6. Recently I split the fairng to install Sat Radio & GPS. I removed the tape deck to make a storage pocket and installed a 3 way spliiter for the aux connection. What I found out was that I could hear my Sat Radio fine until I plugged the audio cord into my GPS and then I could not hear the Sat Radio. Is there no way I can listen to SatRadio and have the GPS vocie over when turns come up? Anyone have a similiar experience / fix for this.
  7. From the venturedad site - http://www.venturedad.com/RSV%20hitch.htm http://www.venturedad.com/RSV%20hitch%201b.JPG http://www.venturedad.com/hitch%20on%20bike%202.jpg
  8. when I had my bike inspected for the first time. The inspector said mine were wrong. The person who I bought he bike from has them hooked up to be on with the high beam and not the low beam. I pressed the button behind the fairing and asked them what running lights? Got my stiker and drove away. Eveturally I want to hook them up to be on with both high and low beam. I will still use the master switch for inspection time. Eventually both bulbs burned out. When I tried to replace them I could not find the replacement anywhere in town (Wagner H7604) and eventually bought the non halogens from the HD dealer. There is definately a decreased light output with the non - halogens I have now. I will be going back to halogens or switching to something that takes a h3 bulb.
  9. Which leds are you using? Have a great trip! Bug
  10. I went through several "economical" helmets before getting my nolan and I'm sorry I waited so long. I can now ride all day and my head is not what hurts anymore. venting: Is ok. It's hard for me to tell behind the fairing and windscreen. wicking material liner: Great liner. Very comfy. removable liner: Yes it is removeable. headset capable liner: Ye very much so. It is designed to be cut out for headsets. I just put mine under the liner. sun visors: It comes standard with an neat half sun shade outside the visor. Unfortunatately with the venture's windshield I ride with my visor open most of the time so I cant use it. The new HJC has a sunscreen tht comes down from inside the helmet: Very neat but I did not like the fit. weight: as good as any other modular I have worn, however it is going to be heavier than 3/4s or non-modular full face. safety rating: Dot approved / Not snell In addition: 1. It is the easiest opeing modular I have tried (one hand center). 2. It as the best chin strap ever (cam buckle, no d rings) I can don/doff it with my winter gloves on. 3. I like the fact the tab for raising the shield is in the center. Easy to raise with either hand It is a little on the expensive side and may not be for everyone, but I love it! If they only made nolan pants that could make my butt feel that good after a long day riding!
  11. Mine are sealed beams. When I picked the bike up last year the guy had halogens in it, but they both burned out. I could not find halogen replacements without ordering online so I picked up some regular replacements. They are definately not as bright as the halogen, but then again the halogen's were nto that bright either.
  12. Trailmaster sells a cooler rack for their trailers for $45. It just looks like 2 pieces of anlgle iron U-bolted around the tounge. you could probably make somthing like it. Also, they sell heavy duty vinyl covers for the igloo marine coolers (25, 36 & 48 quart). I purchased a grey cover for the cooler I carry in my hitch rack. Helps keep the sun off, the cooler clean, and no lost sandwiches. I am very pleased with mine. http://www.trailmasterinc.com/
  13. I just switched to Avons and went with the narrower front. No really long rides yet, but I think it is fine and it is definately more responsive.
  14. Dude, you're totally hosing us up here. We're never hopless. Try something like this: We don't need a camera becuase we can remember what each other look like! We let you take our pictures becuase we know it makes you happy!
  15. Like most thing mechanical, my change out of the rear brake pads has gone to crap. 3 of the 4 pistons pushed right in, but I have one that I can not get to move. I think I messed up the old pads trying to compress the piston and the new one will not go in. Tips / Advice? I started to torch it and file an insurance claim.
  16. Enjoyed meeting you as well. You have really sharp bike. I appreacieate the measurements, it will give me a starting point for talking with them about a size for me.

  17. Yours is better than mine was when I left for Asheville a couple of weeks ago. I knew mine was low, but thought I would finish it off on the trip an get a new one after. I had no idea how fast they dissapear at the end of their life. I looked when I got home and there was no tread left. It was shocking and a little scary. I really thougt I had more that 1400 miles left on them. I just ordered from SW moto Monday morning prior to their opening and the tires were delivered in VA on Wednesday. Great delivery although there is no communication from them after the sale; kinda like a black hole.
  18. Riderduke has a setup like that on his bike. I forget where he told me he got it. You can see it in action tomorrow at the M&E.
  19. I moved up from a vulcan to a 2005 RSV. There is certainly a difference in the parking lots, but I would expect nothing less from 300 extra pounds. It is nothing that should prevent you from buying the Venture. I love my RSV and have never looked back. Bug
  20. Dirtbeard of the White Werewolves MC.
  21. I just had my father make one for me tht holds a 25qt igloo marine. I added lights to it, but the license plate was still visible above the cooler. No need to move it. Bug
  22. Remember LOCATION is the key to success! No offense to Tim, but properly laced your tattoo could raise much more for St. Judes!
  23. I am having the tires replaced this week and want to install a 90 degress stem on the front. Where can I get one and what size will I need? Bug
  24. Wendy and I will keep your family in our prayers!
  25. Glad you guys made it home safe. Wendy and I enjoyed meeting you guys! Bug
