  1. I've got Utopias on both my bikes and love em. Worth every penny. I've got no experience with the Diamond R.-Jack
  2. I think the "bike nights" tend to draw more of a Harley crowd. They can park their bikes and socialize which seems to be what the Harley crowd is all about(mostly). Venture owners are riders, you will see us out riding the roads instead of parked beside it styling and profiling. Why remove the badges? I love it when someone is walking past a whole line of HD's and stops at my RSV and asks"what kind of bike is that"?
  3. The Mags are in the biz of pushing the latest and greatest to sell advertizing. Why should the feature a bike that's been unchanged in 9yrs and yields zero advertizing dollars. When Jamie Elvidge was the editor at Motorcycle Cruiser she would usually include the Venture since she had a soft spot for them. She's no longer with them. Don't expect to see any mention of the RSV in the Mags until Yamaha updates it.-Jack
  4. It looks nice but $60? Ouch! I might pay half that.-Jack
  5. I've got a 97 RSTC and a 07 RSV. The procedure is the same. The screws are a little different but it's easy to figure out.-Jack
  6. Your argument could be used to exclude your grandson from ever holding a drivers license. Are you ok with that? If you know anything about diabetes then you know that even diabetics who keep under strict diet and control are subject to sudden hypoglycemia. Since we don't know the facts in this ladies case maybe we should reserve judgement instead of "hoping.....drives it right over a cliff".
  7. A person experiencing hypoglycemia or "insulin shock" can be totally out of it but still function at a greatly reduced level. To an untrained observer they appear to be extremely intoxicated. This woman may have absolutely no memory of her actions. It's a reason, not an excuse, big difference IMO. Granted, that doesn't make it any easier on the victims. My prayers are with everyone involved.-Jack
  8. I put on the HD Road King muffs drilled out to "stage one". They sound good imo. Good rumble but not too loud. Total cost including Squidly's brackets about $100 and I've still got my stockers in case I ever want to reinstall them. Do a search on "Road King mufflers" in the tech section to learn more. -Jack
  9. It may be the rear shock. They are known to go bad. To check the rear end oil, remove the filler bolt at the top rear of the gear case. The oil should be to the level of the hole. When you add oil and it starts to run out, it's full. Other routine maintenence that's easy to perform is changing plugs, syncing the carbs, cleaning/changing the air filters, changing brake/clutch fluid, changing engine oil/filter. The maintenence schedule is in the owners manual. A factory service manual or Climer manual is a must if your doing your own maintenence and repairs.-Jack
  10. Welcome to the forum! As someone stated above, it's most likely the tires. Switch to Avons now if you can afford it. You'll be glad you did! BTW, what made you switch from HD after so long?-Jack
  11. Glad to hear things went well Steve! Hope it's not too long before you're backin the saddle!-Jack
  12. Cool pics! Thanks for posting them!
  13. Yours is the bike I was referring to Bobbie. Acted like a fuel problem but was really electrical.-Jack
  14. Just because you are adding seafoam doesn't mean that is what's fixing the problem. I have seen an RSV exhibit the same symptoms from a bad ignition switch. Lights and every thing else worked. The bike would start on full choke but ran like it had bad gas in it. Would run fine for a while and then stall out. The switch had got wet and wasn't delivering a full spark to the engine. WD40 was sprayed in and around the switch and it fixed the problem. I think they replaced the switch anyway just to make sure it didn't reoccur. Have you ridden in the rain lately? Or water could have got in while washing it. The problem could be electical instead of fuel related.-Jack
  15. Might be the ignition switch.-Jack
  16. When turning or adjusting your line, lean the bike but keep your body upright.-Jack
  17. I believe the max load the Yamaha rack is rated for is 20 lbs. I have one and it does come in handy.-Jack
  18. Great story! Isn't it ironic that the "bikers" who over the years have been stereotyped by the public and law enforcement as an undesireable element are the ones to step up and aid the families of fallen LEO's? This is not the first case I have heard of. I hope the LEO community takes notice and realizes who their friends really are.-Jack
  19. Congrats on the new bike! It looks great!-Jack
  20. I run 48 in back and 42 in front. The more pressure you run, the more miles you'll get from them. They run cooler at higher pressures.-Jack
  21. I would call my Visa card co ASAP and have the charge removed.-Jack
  22. Glad you weren't hurt! I live in deer country also and have had a few close calls.-Jack
  23. Sounds like the tires to me. My Bridgestones whined at the slightest amount of lean. Replaced them with Avons. No more whine!-Jack
  24. You are still in our prayers. May the Good Lord hold you both in the palm of His hand.-Jack
  25. The wife and I rode up there on our 07 Blue and Black on Sat 6/21. Maybe that was us!-Jack
