A response to popular demand: a Cowpuc Classic
royalstarjac replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
“If you establish a democracy, you must in due time reap the fruits of a democracy. You will in due season have great impatience of the public burdens, combined in due season with great increase of the public expenditure. You will in due season have wars entered into from passion and not from reason; and you will in due season submit to peace ignominiously sought and ignominiously obtained, which will diminish your authority and perhaps endanger your independence. You will in due season find your property is less valuable, and your freedom less complete.” —Benjamin Disraeli -
I think they may have changed the compound on the 404. Also I think the tires that come stock on some RSV's may have a different compound than those bought from dealers. The one I had on the back was looking a little worn when I checked it one day. Not worn out but I knew I was gonna need one soon. I rode to work and back(180 mi). When I parked the bike in the garage I noticed a white stripe up the middle of the tire. It was the cord! When it wore out it went fast!-Jack:confused24:

I noticed a considerable improvement in handling (low speed and high speed) even with the stock size 150 Avon.-Jack

Starbar Handlebar
royalstarjac replied to MrRadi8's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I was getting a stabbing pain between the shoulders after only an hour of riding. The risers helped to extend the time before my shoulders would start to hurt. Then I installed the Utopia drivers backrest. Problem solved! I rode all day yesterday with no pain. What a pleasure it is to be rid of that knife in the back feeling.-Jack -
Utopia here. It also has a handy storage pouch on the back.-Jack

Starbar Handlebar
royalstarjac replied to MrRadi8's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the risers also. It was a stretch using the stock lines with them so I find it hard to believe that they would work with the Starbars. Maybe a good excuse to upgrade to braided ss lines.-Jack -
I would take them at their word a see what happens. If after a reasonable time it's still leaking oil, take it back.-Jack

This is from the resorts website, and yes, the resort is for sale. Anyone got an extra couple mil laying around?-Jack Late in the day yesterday (Wednesday) there was a rider heading northbound and got into some problems at the 10mm(known as the whip or Bens Brights, pending on the map you are looking at). Said rider somehow fell over in the exit of the turn and somehow lost some gas which ignited a fire. As of 6 pm yesterday, it was only about 10 acres, but this am its well over 50 and still burning. Truthfully, I think its even bigger than that, but I cant say for sure unless I had a helicopter. Either way, this is absolutely ridiculous. I know sh-t happens but this makes no sense. The Yamaha R-6 has an issue where you can easily shave a corner off the tank on a longer pavement slide and then ignite the gas in the tank, but I honestly dont know how this could have happened the way it did. I did see the pictures of the fire as it was fresh and the bike was a Suzuki GSXR(750 or 1000, I dont know). The fire was so hot it melted the swing arm completely, along with a couple other key parts. Suffice to say, this bike will not see another day.

I got the dvd last year. I haven't done any tennis ball or cone practice, though I need to. It's hard to find the time. I do use the techniques in my daily riding. Friction zone, rear brake, head and eyes. The dvd will motivate you when you see those small woman handling big HDs like they are toys. -Jack

These highway pegs work well, I love mine. #7976 http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=3255 I have started using the Shell Rotella synthetic 5w40. Also the Supertech filters from wally world. A good filter at a great price. WalMart SuperTech ST6607 or ST7317 (Made by Champion). I use the shorter of the two since it's easier to get on and off.-Jack

My Rear Head Set Does Not Work
royalstarjac replied to TESchoener's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Try the fade adjustment on your control. It may be set all the way to the front. Not sure if that makes a difference w/the headsets or not.-Jack -
