throttle play..end to end..
royalstarjac replied to hoghead's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
How much play does it have? It's supposed to have some to keep it from possibly sticking. About 1/32" or so.-Jack- 8 replies

I used the install kit from TSS and the Roadyholder mount from Hoon Hardware to mount mine on top of the front brake resevoir.-Jack http://www.hoonhardware.com/RoadyHolder/roadyholder.htm -
It's actually supposed to help "dynamically balance" the tires. I get mine on ebay.-Jack

After suffering from the "ice pick between the shoulders" feeling on long rides I installed the Barons risers. They helped somewhat but didn't fully solve the problem. I just finished installing the Flanders bars, ss brake lines and throttle cables from Buckeye Performance. I also installed Kuryakyn Iso grips and put in a Sirius Sportster 4 satellite radio while I had the fairing split. I havent had a chance to go on a ride yet so I'll keep yall posted as far as the comfort level is concerned. The install went well and though it was a good bit of work, anyone with a reasonable level of mechanical ability should be able to do it without a problem. I will say that Rick at Buckeye performance is a pleasure to do business with and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to do this upgrade.-Jack

I get mine at a Motorcycle dealer/shop near here. Here's an online source. It's not cheap but a little goes a LONG way. I use about 1 can a year on my 2 bikes combined and I clean my windshields almost everytime I ride which is year round.-Jack http://www.superiorcarcare.net/plexplasclea.html

RainX is not compatable with plexiglass or lexan. Don't use it. I use Plexus. Some people use Pledge furniture polish.-Jack

We might as well use the resources as we see fit as long as we can. If we don't use em the Chinese and Indians will. Does anyone think they're going to cut back?-Jack

1 1/2" Baron Risers
royalstarjac replied to jrcain32's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You might be able to move them if you can see somthing blocking them from stretching far enough, a wire bundle for example. As far as disassembly goes it's six of one half a dozen of the other IMO.-Jack -
1 1/2" Baron Risers
royalstarjac replied to jrcain32's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I did not need new cables when I added the risers. You may need to rerout your cables to give them more slack. Take the neck cover off of the left side. That will give you access to the throttle box and you might be able to see what the problem is. Are your handelbars stock? Stock handelbars with barons risers should not require longer cables.-Jack -
There's a cheap and easy fix on the Venturers web site. http://www.venturers.org/ You have to pay if you want to post but it's free to read if you register. Go to the 2nd gen tech section and search for PTT.-Jack

One thing I do know is that spec ops troops are given a fair degree of leeway in equipment and uniform selection. I would not discard this pic out of hand because the subject doesn't conform to standard.-Jack

Well, I'm no authority on the subject. Here's a link to the thread from the other forum. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=340502

I don't think the catalyst has any effect, soundwise. You can drill them out like the non catalyst mufflers if you choose. I could be wrong though. The ones I got were non catalyst.-Jack
