  1. http://www.ezcontactsusa.com/Oakley-Monster-Dog-Sunglasses.html Ordered 2 pairs of these Monster Dog sunglasses for the bike. Oakley wanted over 135 bucks for them. Cant beat the price here.
  2. Hi all. I am looking at getting a trailer to pull behind my scoot. Not sure if I should build or buy. If I build, I am sure I can get a couple of friends to do the welding for me at the school where I work. Should it be aluminum tubing? I would think it's better for weight but would it hold on the road? Then put a car top cargo on it again for weight. To buy, not sure where to look for a good price and quality at the same time. Any ideas are welcome. If you have a plan of how to build one I would certainly appreciate it. thanks
  3. Ottawa

    Trailer

OK I would love to have a trailer and camp as I go but really how much time will I really have verse the cost to have it sit around 11 months a year??? I found one that I thought was nice for the price of $1900.00 CDN Thats just about $1900.00 for all you US bikers:thumbsup2: Anyway what do you think of this trailer??
  4. There have been lots of discussions on the best oil to use, and every one has an opinion, but very few has said why they think their choice is better than anothers. Just what do you look for in your oil? Is your choice based on independent research reports, personal experience, smoother shifting, price or (like me) just what my daddy used? With so many opinions on oil brands, surely there are good reasons for making those choices.
  5. It's funny how after you pull the trigger on a deal that seems too good to be true...it usually is...Now my question. I bought some brand new (what I thought were genuine) Royal Star Saddlebag rails on eBay for a very good price. And while they look great and arrived still in plastic...there were no instructions in the bag. Is this a straight forward install or do I need to install these a certain way. Wally
  6. Hey everyone, two months after I sold my Road Star Silverado and since I've already owned all other incarnations of the Venture, I'm back in the market again. I originally thought I'd search out a MM. Very hard finding one though as the few I've been able to search out either the owner really thinks he has something and has priced it accordingly or I have to travel too far to kick the tires. I did find a 99' only a couple hours away that has 43K on the odo and has quite a few desired after market add ons and with a fairly desirable Silver and Burgundy two tone paint, and at $5,200.00 a pretty decent price. The reason why I like the MM, is I really like the color and you don't see too may of em' around. Are the 2000 MM really that hard to locate for a decent price, or should I just forgo that Idea and settle for the aforementioned 99'? I know it's more of a personal taste for the color and that is entirely up to me, but what are your ideas on what's out there and prices? is the 99' on the money?
  7. Since winter will be upon most of us soon enough I was just wondering on your plans (if any)for the bike this winter. In January, when winter really sets in here, I plan on pulling down the front end and polish the forks and trees. Thats something I have wanted to do for a while. The lower legs look like crap right now. While the fairing is off and if the money holds out I might go ahead and install the new gauge set-up from Ponch. I like the tach in there better then the three gauges originally offered. Also may rebuild my driving lights using LED bulbs instead of the incandescents and rewire the whole thing. Price is a concern though since the cost of each bulb is 112 bucks. Maybe by then I can find a cheaper set. Flanders G2 bars and extended SS throttle cables might make it into the mix this time too. That should just about wrap up the mods to the bike for a long time to come. Yea, righttttt:smile5:
  8. i'm looking for one more winter project. may have to build one more bike. found what i was looking for for $350 dollars, almost delivered from oklahoma to my house. a few more details and i will close the deal. since i am a long time member of another forum and attend alot of their meets i figure i better be riding the right brand on their rides. so i have been hunting for a buildable prospect for the last year. the price is right so here we go again. i have already built several of these. anyone got an idea what it may be? the winner gets an all you can eat breakfast at hardies, or a check for ten dollars if your to far away. just name the brand not the model. snarley bill
  9. first of I have nothing to do with this cdi just surfing and noticed it/ Seems like a good price. Not sure if theres anyone looking at it wright now or not. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-XVZ-12-13-Venture-Royale-Ignition-Unit-/290462632296?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a0ec0968 David
  10. I found this Ebay seller located near Toronto. The brake lines are stainless, covered with PVC. After shipping it would be about $40 per line. I haven't even looked to see how many lines we need but it seems a long way from the price offered in the classified. In fairness. it's comparing apples to oranges because of course this vendor is not offering the de-link kit. Not sure if I want to de-link or not. Any thoughts on the product, price or comparison? Any thoughts on to de-link or not? http://cgi.ebay.ca/YAMAHA-XVZ13-VENTURE-CUSTOM-STAINLESS-STEEL-BRAKE-LINE-/190403794950?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c54f35806
  11. I have a 08 that I need to replace the front tire and the dealer is high. Who gives the best price? I don't want bay and get a old tire. Thanks
  12. Just saw this on EBay if anyone is looking for one it is listed as buy it now at 149.99 and 12.99 shipping. I don't know if that price is good or too high but here it is if anyone is interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DECORATIVE-LICENSE-PLATE-LIGHT-BAR-HARLEY-TOURING-FL-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1c0b6ad21eQQitemZ120450634270QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  13. Well kids, im gonna pull the trigger. My Avon rear tire wore out in less than 10k. I usually got closer to 14k on them. Didnt do anything different either. So......im looking to order a Kuhmo Power Star 758. One place had it for 52.90 with free shipping but its backordered for 45 days. I put in a price match request with a local dealer and ill see what he comes up with. He wants 69.00 for the tire. I read all the pros and cons and im still a bit leery but for the price ill give it a fair try. Guy at work put over 25k on his CT on his GW and does the dragon regularly. Since im not a twisties king of guy this may work for me.
  14. I am interested in those crash bar mounted wind deflectors that I have seen on a few of you guys' RSVs. The best price I have found is $162 at Cyclepartswarehouse.com. They are $199 in the Star catalog. Anyone found a bettrer deal?
  15. Price reduced on my 09. Take another look, if I can't sell it to one of my friends here it will be repo'd soon. Thanks for looking.
  16. Disclaimer: this is not a knock on those who chose to go to a different model. To each their own, and I mean that. Your reasons are all valid ones. I always wanted a Harley but when I got my RSV it was love at first sight. This is just one member's insight on why he still likes the RSV. After reading threads over the past year about members leaving the RSV and getting another bike, mainly because of the lack of upgrades, I said to myself, self, what do you dislike so much about the RSV that would make you part ways with it? I found nothing that would make me give up the ol' girl. Im a low tech kind of guy and the RSV is just fine for me. Would I pay the 20k MSRP for a new one now..no way. The technology hasnt caught up enough to warrant that kind of price. Harley and GW have increased their technical advantages over the years to kinda warrant that kind of price. But, like I said, for me the RSV suits my needs. Im comfortable on it. I can handle it just fine. Wife falls asleep on the back. And it still looks purty....Put untold amounts of upgrades over the years to make it just the way I like it. So, ill just enjoy my old bike a little while longer...
  17. Ok I have been all over this forum and I am more confused than ever LOL. I am looking for a decent tach for my 99 RSV. Simple hook up as I am no mechanic and price worthy. Any suggestions out there for me? TIA guys you all rock.
  18. Neighbor is in the biz of selling different vehicles types includes bikes. From most of my talks with him alot of what he sells are bank repos. I can say he is (or was) handling a sell of a former colts player recently so not of it is repo's. He has a stock '04 Midnight w/ 17k and is asked if I thought 7k is a fair asking price. I haven't seen it and plan on it this week, but from what he says it is in good shape nothing major and any surface scratches can be buffed out. To me, I think it seems like a fair price. With this economy, not sure if it will move that quickly though. I just checked kbb and it shows retail $9210 & trade in $6440. Not sure what nada or black book lists it for.
  19. I've been thinking about going with the MKII bags & trunk for my MKI. Anybody have all the goodies for the conversion at a reasonable price? I would also be needing a hitch. Right now I'm skimming through eBay and finding a few goodies. So far I'm up to about $500 without the trunk, trunk bracket, tail lights, and trim. I found a complete trunk that's the right color that would add another $250 O $300 to the total. I'm thinking it could be $1000 or more if I can find all the parts on eBay. You guys think that's reasonable? I would later turn around and sell all the old goodies to try and offset the price. That would help a bit. I'm not sure what they would all be worth though. Thanks, Bill
  20. Hello all, Searching for a Midnight Venture and found what appears to be a nice example. My only issue is I know little of what particular examples are worth. Here is the find; http://www.cycletrader.com/find/listing/2003-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Midnight-Venture-97217933 Price seems a bit strong for the miles. Can anyone please give me some insight into this market? Thanks!
  21. I know this isn't bike related but you're a large family to throw the question out to. My wife and I are looking at a top of the line Whirlpool Duet front load washer/dryer set. The price is right. I've looked at online review sites and see a mixed bag of opinions. I see the same from other manufacturers reviews. So, I'm looking for input from real people with first hand knowledge. I can get the top of the line set for about $1300 which is about $800 less than Lowes price. Should I look elsewhere? Does Whirlpool make a decent set? Thanks, Dennis
  22. Life takes us down many roads, some we navigate, some are navigated for us. Along the way, decisions have to made when we find ourselves at crossroads. I've decided it's necessary to sell my 2008 RSVS. With just over 4k it'll last someone a LONG time. The price is right, PM me and I'll send pix and a list of nice touches. (email, speedyg@nsatel.net). I'm not leaving VR, fact is I just renewed my membership. RENNE
  23. OK, I bought this mintish Silver Nolan 1002 X-Lite Flip to match my '99 off ebay from a local seller. It's marked size is an xxl, and I never tried it on when I picked it up. When I got back to the barn I gave it a try, and it ain't a xxl. I have two Nolan xxl's and this one isn't. I don't even think it's a XL.... probably more like a L. So here's the deal. I picked it up for $71.00, which is a great price. So, thought I'd give this a shot. Anyone here interested in it for $71 bucks plus shipping??... unless your close by, and can pick it up like I did... LMK
  24. My lower left fairing mysteriously got cracked. I came out to the garage one morning and there it was. Does anyone here have one at a reasonable price?
  25. When I got my 83 14 years ago, I could hardly ride the bike at night due to the poor condition of the windshield. It was covered with small scratches and any oncoming cars blinded me. I went thru a series of sanding and polishing operations until I made it just about like new and fortunately I never broke thru the hardcoat. Since then, I have always used Plexus routinely and it has really helped to keep it in very good condition. Like some other things we like to use routinely, like Sea Foam, the price has gone up a bunch lately. I used to be able to get the small can of Plexus for about $7 and the large for $11. The last small can of Plexus I bought with tax was about $11 and the big was $15. Now, the small can is almost $17 and the large would be $23 and this was at my independent cycle shop and his prices are pretty good. I also checked the local bike retailer and prices were a little higher. The guy at the independent shop also noted the price increase and suggested I try something else he had. He says it is the same as the Honda polish and works fine. The small can is about $5.50 and the large can is less than $8. So, I bought a small can and so far, it is working very good. It seems to be slightly thicker than Plexus and I am now using less, but it seems to clean and polish and comes off clean. It is a lot like Plexus in the type cloth you use makes a big difference and a cotton towel works better than a blend. Here is a picture of the can. RandyA
