  1. Just wanted to share this with everyone. Some of you know about all my struggles with my left eye and some don't. It's a long story but I will make it short. While on a trip out west last June I had hemorrhaging in my left eye and a membrane tear inside the eye and lost the sight in it. I have had 3 different surgeries since then with no results. I have been able to see about a total of 3 weeks since June 24th when this happened. We had one more chance to fix it with this last (4th) surgery I had on the 10th of this month. As of this morning (Tuesday the 18th) I can now see. It isn't 20/20 but about 20/70 or so and I can live with that. It is so wonderful to be able to see out of both eyes again. Anyway thanks for listening. Rick
  2. coming to the pros for this answer........need for legal documents.. valu on the bike......04 midnight.......53000 miles.......has additional chrome and lights..no damage, never dropped....but that crack or split in front left lower cowl fairing or whatever its called...lol kbb tells me retail 9080 trade in 6350 but doesnt ask miles or condition
  3. Had a good visit with jrichard this weekend. He came thru Thursday evening on his way to Texas. Left this morning as I left out for work. Good to see him.
  4. The rumor on the Northwest Arkansas part of Advriders is that Cycle Gadgets is closing down. This link is to what they have left and are selling on Ebay http://shop.ebay.com/cyclegadgets/m....1.c0.m14.l1514
  5. I run "0" PSI in my front shocks and have found that air pressure is building up in the shocks. The right shock seems to build up faster than the left and I do not understand why. I removed the air valve this morning and noticed oil on the valve. This is making me wonder if the oil seal is leaking and that is what is causing the air pressure to increase. Has anyone seen this before? Would this be a warrenty problem? I have an 06 RSV that was purchased in 07 so I still have some warrenty left. Thanks for the help.
  6. I have the opportunity to purchase this 86 VR for $500. It was side swiped by a cager at an interection. The rider luckly did not receive any injuries and the bike did not go down. The front left fairing got hit and also took out the left side bag. He rode it that way for a while until he rode over something on the way to work. When his work day was done he found a large puddle of oil under the oil pan. So he figured what ever he rode over cracked the oil pan. It does not have rear fender and the crome below the left side bages. It is a VR and he said that the Cassette(probably works), Radio, CB, CASE, Electronic Cruise Control all work good. The Cruise Control does loose some and so he had to use the throttle to bring it backup to speed. He said that it ran great up to the day of the oil incident. It has about 85K miles. I have parts that I could use immediately, trailer hitch, passenger arm rest. Otherwise I think it would make a good parts VR for my 89. Oh the color is definately does not match mine. I recently purchased my 89 VR in June and so I'm just a rookie with the VR. I am willing and capabile of fixing things. Of course I will need my wife's support on this purchase. I was thinking that I could use the parts I mentioned then possible pick up the other parts and list it on Craigs list this spring and get my investment back. Maybe everyone could give an estimate of the value of the VR with all the issues repaired. Your thoughs would be appreciated. I will attach as many pictures as I can.
  7. Wife cooked an 8lb meatloaf for Christmas. Here I am drinking coffee and having meatloaf with chocolate pie at midnight. These kind of jobs require some OT.I got left over Ham,Potatoes, and fresh eggs scheduled for in the morning.
  8. Got any Venturerider decals left
  9. 07 wing w/air bag has a "glove box" on the left side for small items. Well I got my phone charrger in there the gate keys and what not. I also put my ID in there so it is easy to get to when getting on Base every day. Well lately the lid has been sticking. anyone have this trouble and how did you fix it?

    Did a few mods

Cold and rainy yesterday, Pam said let's hang here and do the mods you been wanting do so we installed a garage door opener took the seat off on the right side just above the battery mounted the control with 2 sided tape and with some cat-5 wire reason we use that it is low voltage and we got plenty of it then we put the button on the left side right under the seat in the plastic shield , the only tricky part was get the wires solder to the control. Now I don't have to fumble for it coming up to the door. Then we installed a 12v power supply on the left side rear where the cap is that was easy enough. Change the plugs at almost 30k miles on them that was a joke they looked brand new but I had the plugs figure do it now since I was I was that far into it.. I'm thankful Pam is 5' tall makes it for the short tight places for us, being 6'4 can be a pain twisting around.. I will have to say the garage door opener is the best mod I've done in awhile
  11. Im not a story teller nor good with words. In short Brad and Lonna,(Squidley and Sweetnothing) came over for the weekend..I knew they were coming but should have known, knowing Brad and Lonna, that they had more of a reason than "just getting away from the rat race". Thanks to both for helping with a few things I have been unable to do the last few weeks, simple things like not being able to get the Christmas Tree down, Cutting some limbs off of a big oak tree in front, putting light bulbs in where they had been burned out the last few weeks. I want to thank them for everything they did but most of all bringing the Christmas Spirit to our home this year. We went to Johnson City last night to see the lights there..Beautiful site if you have never seen it. Debby couldnt last long because of her health problems but She enjoyed it. Brad,Lonna after you left Debby started looking at the decorations and like I figured She put up the blue lights on the tree and has been looking at the tree most of this afternoon. I was thinking afterwards....sometimes I do things just to help another and never thought about it much but as I was sitting here after they left I remembered I have always heard if you give you will receive 10 fold.....I have. An early Christmas greeting for all..Have a Merry Christmas!
  12. So there I as, driving to work on a beautiful SoCal afternoon. I came up on a 90 degree left handed sweeper, no traffic, clear road, about 25mph. I eased into the turn, acheiving full lean with throttle roll-on, when to my surprise, my back end completely washed out. I found my self on the pavement watching my '09 RSV continue in a straight line, on it's left side. When it hit the edge of the roadway, it high-sided and smashed down hard on the right side. Tow truck to the dealer, call to insurance and several beers late, here I am. By the grace of God I am uninjured, but the bike may be a total. New fairings, bags and rub rails, new windshield, new engine guards, new floorboards, that's just the start of what I see needed. And I am NO mechanic. .
  13. Greetings from N. GA. I have my carbs put back together after an extensive cleaning and part replacement. It went well for the most part. No left over parts and what not. I have run into a small snag now. They are completely assembled. The choke linkage doesn't seem to be synced with both sides. If I turn the choke like the cable would, the left (cable attachment side) side will actuate the left side chokes first. Then the right side follows. Its about an eight inch off. The only way I see to adjust this would be to bend the choke linkage rod. Which I suppose would be no problem. However, I would like to confirm or deny if I should first. Is it normal for it to activate side before the other? If someone would please take a peek at theirs, I would be most grateful. BTW, sorry to be so long winded with just a small question. Michael
  14. So, both my dash speakers and headset speakers play a different tune. It is same whether on the radio or throught the cassette adaptor. Left dash speaker and left headset speaker = engine noise Right dash speaker and right headset speaker = music I have put space between the spark plug wires and any wires. The wires are the NGK set off of ebay. What is wrong?
  15. this is what i had left after 21.3k miles......
  16. On the spur of the moment I decided to ride out to California to surprise my brother for his 60th b-day. Left Salt Lake City on Thursday morning on my '08 RSV and 13 hours later arrived at friends house near LA after 784 miles, even with a 140 mile detour. It was 35 degrees when I left but warmed up with time and heading South. Spent 3 days in Santa Barbara then headed home on Monday, 793 miles and 13 hours later pulled into my driveway. I had forgotten how beautiful that ride is. All I can say is I LOVE THIS BIKE. Cruised at 70-80 mph most of the way and the bike just hummed nicely all the way. The electronic cruise control and my mp3 player made the trip so easy, I wasn't really tired at all. Just under 1800 miles total.
  17. Yes I did. Now I'm not one to judge anyone on their looks BUT this was funny. I went into a gas station party store and in line was this guy, I'd say late 20's all dressed up in bike leather, patches all over, chains, piercings everywhere, attitude and looking like a 1%er without the colors. Well he left and I made my purchase and got in the van and headed down the road. Up ahead I see the cars slowing down then moving to the left lane to go around someone going slow. I get up there and here's this guy from the store riding a chopper MINI BIKE. The brigs and straton 5hp type. All racked out in the front, sissy bar and the tiny mini bike tires, riding along like he's the baddest biker ever to ride. Laughed so hard I almost rear ended the car in front of me at the light. Had his feet out on highway pegs but his knees was almost in his chin. If you would of seen him and his attitude in the store you would NEVER of guessed what he was riding. Still laughing just thinking about it.
  18. If you are interested in any of these parts please get a hold of me right away! I will be leaving for a week then I will be back home. What ever is left is going on flee bay. Thanks Gannon http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven1.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven2.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven3.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven4.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven5.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven6.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven7.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven8.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/88vmx12/ven9.jpg
  19. Well, I became a supporting member Wed, and Thurs I went down, so I guess I gotta send another donation in. I was on my way to work and people were all and out not driving worth a darn. I had to slam on the brakes and one second later I'm sliding on my left side. Probably was going 25-30 mph. Helmet got some scratches, jacket, glove and boot just got some "character" added to them, pants got a small hole. Bike lost it's left mirror, sanded some paint off and chipped the edge of the turn signal. Highway peg, saddlebag bar, and pipe took most of the abuse and had the most wear. Guy behind me stopped, helped me right it, and push it to a nearby parking lot. Me, I got some bruises on my left side, some rug burn most likely from my shirt moving (jacket kept it from being road rash) but the worst injury was my RIGHT thumb must have hit something because it was swelling and hurt like a sob. Wife picked me up and took me to the dr. Nothing broken, just sprained. But now I can't grab the throttle. So after work, I had a buddy come and drive it home for me. Started ok, rode fine, he liked the power of it (1st gen rule!). So for now, I put in on winter insurance, will have to fix the mirror, I want to repaint & repair all the cracks in the fairing, and will de-link the brakes, which is what I'm sure put me down. My son asked if I was getting rid of it. I told him "No way". -Andrew
  20. I would like to fix the lower left fairing on the loaner bike my buddy loaned me while I'm doing some repairs on my 1st gen (As a gesture of appreciation for the loan, I didn't damage it.). The bike I'm riding is a 2007 midnight Venture so I am looking for one in black. Does anyone have one they would like to sell or know where I can find one. I'd would really rather avoid ordering one from a stealership if I can help it..
  21. i've searched for feedback concerning tires for my second gen. currentley i have metzler front and back with the smaller front than factory. i usally ride two up with 36 in front and 41 in rear however after a 612 mile run to the beach and back the rear tire is cupped very bad and needs to be replaced all though it has pleanty of tread left. maybe i need to run more preasure i dont know,i use a digtal gauge which i think is accurate. any thoughts i'm wide open, thanks:bluesbrother:
  22. Has anyone else had problems with the lower cowling cracking?I have a 2007 midnight venture and I have replaced the lower left cowling twice.
  23. turns as far as dragging the foot boards? For what ever reason I'm much more comfortable leaning hard into a left turn than a right one. On my Tour Classic, with the exception of "The Dragon" I've never drug the right foot board, but occasionally, effortlessly, drag the left one. So far I've not been comfortable enough to drag either board on the RSV.
  24. Well, I went hunting today and bagged my first Duck, with my '08 RSV Passing Lamps at about 70 km/h (45 mph). I have the Yamaha OEM Lightbar, you know the one, with the CRAP Sealed Beams! Coming home tonight from work, I noticed the left one is pointing down a bit compared to the right beam. It does not appear to be bent, so how do you adjust the lamp buckets up and down?? My riding buddy has 13 confirmed kills this season, so I am happy I am no longer feeling left out!
  25. Discovered the other day that my flashers only work on the left side. All turn lights work on right side and left side but when I turn on only the flashers only the left sides work. Any ideas?
