  1. ok i went on a search on flebay pinwalls stuff and found a set of carbs for an 05 to 07 RSTD does anyone know if they are the 32 mm carbs i would need to do the carb swap for my 99 RSTD so i would (could) try to catch some of those 1st genners if it is and will work i can get them for 89.00 plus shipping just have to save up for that maybe by next week then come the intake boots and other stuff needed
  2. I love listening to my tunes on my Android phone plugged into the Aux socket. When the right channel went dead, I checked all the connections and the head phones. Tried the radio... STEREO! Checked the plug and lead. DAMMIT! The end piece of the plug had broken off. Found it! Inside the socket on the bike. Any suggestions on how to get that little sucker out of there? (2008 Venture.)
  3. Been looking for a ""Rear Fender Luggage rack"" for my new 08 RSTD. OK, came up with nothing, but sombody on this site had posted a part number. "" STR-4NK51-20-00 "" This rack fits in place of the passenger seat, for a Solo Set Up . Also it was stated that this Yamaha Accessory has been discontinued. All True, !! I found an accessory vendor web site that listed that number , with a photo of the part, and statement that is was indeed " discontinued " OK-- SO ?? I stopped at a dealer today, and had the parts guy run the number on his computer system, and check parts warehouse's. He found, 4 of them still in Variious Dealer, Stock, around the country. One was in Reno, Nev. !! He hands me the phone, and I order it from the Dealer in Reno !!! ( Its being shipped to me as we speak !!!!! ) OK, so what ??? He also found that there are 3 more of them in stock at other dealers around the country. !!! If you want one, go to a dealer and ask the parts guy to try to locate one of them ( There are Three Left, Somplace in the U. S. on a dealer shelf ) My charge from the Reno Dealer, was $82.00 plus shipping. I'm sure there are at least 3 members would like to have one of these rear fender racks
  4. Just ordered some OEM driving lights. Now I gotta figure out a switch. What I would love is something reservoir mounted that included a toggle switch and a couple of USBs. I can't find that but I found this. It would be easy to get to and discreet. Anybody have any other suggestions? http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/bikers-choice-oval-mini-push-button-handlebar-switch-kit-for-1-inch-diameter-bars-chrome-each/part/BC-370268?action=fitment
  5. Two weeks commuting with a blown rear shock. Motion sickness pills............... $4.00 New shock with shipping......... $460.00 The new found ability to ride a mechanical bull.......... Priceless.
  6. Just bought an 88 and found the rear shock will not hold pressure. Is there a rebuild option or fix for this problem? If not is anyone parting out a bike or anyone that would have an extra they might let go. The price for the bike was to good to be true, i should have known:depressed: I have already rebuild front shocks and replaced one anti-dive module. Just found out the new replacements from progressive is ~$400. This is much more than I had budgeted to get the bike on the road. Any help is much appericated
  7. My mother is in the ICU at Ruby Memorial Hospital today. The doctors are searching for possible infection causing her symptoms. So far they haven't found it. At this point it's completely in the Lord's hands.
  8. I have the RSV Owner's manual in PDF format. Not sure where I got it, but I just tried to print several pages, via ADOBE 6.0, but found that printing is not allowed and the security is password protected. Anyone know the password or know how to "crack" it?
  9. Anyone still have a good condition final and shock laying around after triking their bike that they haven't found a new home for yet?? I'd be interested in adopting it..
  10. I got the 91 Voyager looking and running good needs more work but it kicks but, I am gonna sell my 86 VR if anyone is interested. IO replaced the windshield, mirrors left side fairing that I found that had some damage from a garage fire but was better than the one that was on there, synced the carbs and found split vacuum lines I fixed, replaced the crash bars and put new highway pegs on and kinda cleaned it up. I went for a nice 90 mile ride this morning and it rides greats expert for the cruise that works intermittent. I also put a Butler mug on it. I don't like the floorboards that are on my VR I would rather have the pegs like on this voyager.
  11. am sure glad I did.... looking forward to getting to know every1 ...
  12. Been thinking about getting a Bluetooth headset/intercom. Semi decided to get the Sena SMH10 because it is well rated as an intercom and seems to have the best sound. Found the Cardo Scala G9 which is new on the market but haven't found a review yet. A bit pricey but sure looks good as it will connect with up to 9 bikes although don't know how good the speakers are. Thought I would bring it to your attention.
  13. Hey there everybody. A few weeks ago I bought a beater '84 Venture Royale. After riding it a bit I found I like ed it an awful lot. Got to looking around and found my new bike. I drove 350 miles each way on my hunch after talking to the owner and looking at a very blurry picture. Here is my new ride. 23,500 on the odometer. The carbs seem a little sluggish, hopefully Sea Foam will clear them up. Runs fair, but idles real low. This is what it looks like without my touching it. Everything works as it should. I'll register it when I get back from my OTR trip this week.
  14. Found a picture of the first Generation Voyager..just thought I would pass it on....
  15. I recently purchased my first Venture, a 1986 VR, and just hours after getting her home I couldn't help but take off a few parts to start cleaning. The bike had sat for a couple of years, only running occasionally, so the dust build up was pretty bad. During the inspection I found that the air box was broken so I'm working of finding a replacement. While I was cleaning and shining today I noticed two small drops of anti freeze under the bike and found a wet spot on the hose between the rad and the thermo housing. Looked like it was on the radiator side at the hose so I started browsing for a new one (Yamaha part # 26H-12578-00-00). All the sites I found stated that part is no longer available. So my question... Is there a substitute for the hose? I scoured VR.org before posting but couldn't find the solution. Your help is greatly appreciated!
  16. I have a question about making your own maps to load into a sd card for my gps. Are there any websites you can go to to do this? I tried searching for it but found nothing. Thanks Richie R
  17. My civic duty is over, I don't know how long this scumbag will get, but after talking to the ADA after the trial, he could get anywhere from 1 to 20 years on each count. We found him guilty of all 8 counts. I hope he serves them consecutively and not concurrently, that would put him away for a long time. I am proud of what we did, but I am sick at what he did, I think I need a little more than cycle-therapy to help me get over this. I won't go into detail here of what he did, but if you want to pm me I will tell you. This was not an easy slam dunk, we were hung a couple of times on several of the counts but the Judge and the ADA did an excellent job of helping us get through this. The judge even came back to the juror room after the trial and personally thanked us and asked us for suggestions to make thing easier for future jurors, and the ADA found us in the clerks office and also thanked us and talked with us, that's when we found out what he was in store for.
  18. the gentleman that called me Fri. night about helment locks please contact me found them
  19. I read that this filter WIX 51358 is not recommend for our bikes and I slap one on mine when the part cross reference it.. I found out about this after the fact Now do I swap filters now or wait till next oil change.
  20. SO I have kind of been studyin up on the Mic mute thing. I ran across an item on another fourm that is simply a in line mic mute. Made for the GW it says its a 5 pin connection. Looking around I have found them for $50. Wonder if I need one or two? Do they work? We have the high white noise static sound plus engine buzz. And I think because I have to run the IC volume so high it causes the aux MP3 player to not have as good of sound either. Sort of makes it "tinney" sounding. So far have only found one company that makes these jobs though. http://imcmoto.com/honda-goldwing-passenger-mic-mute-and-volume-control.html# http://imcmoto.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/800x600/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f/g/p/gpms_goldwing_volume_controller_copy.jpg Oops sorry for second gen if I didnt have that mentioned.
  21. Yesterday afternoon, I got around to installing the new Avons that I had ordered. Ran into something that I found a bit strange. I had my last set installed and balanced at a local shop. They didn't have much weight on them but what I found strange was that when I removed the existing weights and then put the the wheels with newly installed tires on my balancer, they showed to be HEAVY exactly where the weights had been. I found this on both the front and rear wheels. On both wheels, I ended up adding weight to the exact opposite side to where they had previously been. It leads me to believe that maybe the shop that balanced the last set didn't know what they were doing and actually had put the weights on the heavy side instead of where they should have been. I didn't notice any problem when riding it but there was only about 1 ounce of weights installed. Anyway, I got them done, new breaks installed front and rear, engine oil and rear end oil changed, rear splines greased, front fender rail that I bought from Pioneer at Maintenance Day installed. Polished the chrome this morning and it sure looks pretty sitting in the garage. Now I sure wish I had time to ride it somewhere.
  22. I/m getting ready to start putting my '91 VR back together (doing forks, brakes, tires, yadda, yadda) and one thing on the list is replacing the wind shield. I found a Slip Streamer on evil bay, and couldn't resit the price. Its a nice looking piece of Lexan, but it doesn't quite fit. I can get the front bolts in, but not the ones at the back corners. The holes in the new shield don't quite match up, and I'm wondering if there are some parts (rubber dampers, bushings, or what ever) missing. I wouldn't be at all surprised 'Cause while I was doing the tear down I found several items that were "shade treen engineered. (God how I hate some "mechaincs"....) What would really help is if someone has some pictures of how the fasteners should look with the shield installed. Thanks in advance....
  23. Well, I finally did it. Ordered a Roadsmith kit today for my Goldwing! Arthritis and old age are catching up to me I guess and I found myself worrying about my hip when stopping the bike. (Afraid that, especially when I'm two up, the hip will give way and I'll not be able to hold the bike). Anyway, after looking and soul searching I finally decided to spring for three wheels. The Roadsmith's got a lot of features that I really like and is the only trike kit I've found that somebody's not complaining about:)...Anyway, it ships the week of April 9, so middle of next month I'll be "up" on 3!
  24. What I found owning 2 30 year old bikes, you can't find a dealer to work on anything older than 2000. For anyone in Hampton Roads Virginia area Sunrise Cycle in Norfolk will work on them. Well only on the off season (Sept to February). http://www.sunrisecycle.com/ Today I did my progressives & I had to go out & get fork oil. I asked the parts Mgr a question about how to do something & he walked me into the service area to talk to a tech. The tech not only answered my question but went through the entire procedure with me. (All I bought was fork oil) That's when I asked him if they worked on old bikes, expecting a "no" answer. It's good to find a dealer willing to work on any year make of what they sell!
  25. Im finally taking care of the steering head bearings at the local Yamaha dealer in preparation for my cross country ride. I also had them do a complete bike check and found that my front brake calipers were not releasing completely ( i asked them to find out why my gas mileage was not where i thought it shouild be). They found milky like brake fluid in the system and suggested rebuilding the system. I gave them the OK to rebuild the calipers and master cylinders. I cant afford the stainless upgrade at this time. The only thing that i didnt like was the fact that they are charging 5 hours of labor to do the head bearings (original est. was 3 hours). For $780, i should have a not only better handling bike but also a little better gas mileage (since the brake pads wont be dragging anymore). My last shop supposedly flush the syetem last year. What causes the brake fluid to turn into this milky thing that they described?
