  1. A 2008 Venture with 4,480 miles on it for 6,650 right now. Salvage title but it lools perfect. Warden ain't home. She would probally kill me..... Stay tuned for sale on 1st Gen Parts!! You know it ain't gonna happen but I'm getting tired of sitting!!!! Just Maybe..... WORTH-- Like that spelling wouldn't let me change it
  2. Anyone who has "triked" their bike have a good used rear shock sitting around that you don't need? I think mine may be going bad.
  3. After 10 years my rear shock finally dumped its contents. Wasnt even riding the bike.....It was sitting in the garage when the first drop hit the floor. And I was sitting in the garage looking at its first drop of fluid hit the concrete. It was such an unholy experience, realizing just how much a new shock will be. However, Bushwacker, who triked his 06 had the old one and sold it to me for a reasonable price. It arrived today and hopefully ill have it in Sunday morn. Still deciding if I want to do the leveling links. Hmmm, maybe while its up ill do............
  4. I finally got to see the Beercart up close and personal at MD. Geez, that thing is huge! It was sitting there opened and my buddy and I were looking at it. We had just discoverd that the lid was electrically operated and the thing started closing. Then I looked over and Beer30 was sitting there watching us and smiling. Beer, that's a great looking trailer you got yourself. If I had one that size my wife just might be able to fit all her stuff in it. As it is she takes up all the room in my Neosho and I get a little space on top of the trailer for my clean underwear. Just doesn't seem fair to me. This was the first MD I have been to and you guys are the best. V7 did my carbes for me and I am most appreciative. I got to meet Beer30, Squidley and many other people who came up and said hi. I can't wait until the next MD! God bless and ride safe.
  5. . What more can I say. What a difference. Like sitting on a cloud. Harry
  6. Sitting at home do to short work week 32hr . Have work to do at home but it was 50 deg but raining I could not help going out in the garage and starting the bike and listen to the radio for a while. The temp is dropping and there talking snow again can't we just get a break if I have to be at home at least I could ride if the winter would end. Well sitting on her raised my spirits a little. Hope all are doing well spring is 21 days away.
  7. This isnt trying to spark ANOTHER debate. you all know i am new to this and i finally got bored enough to search for pictures of a First Gen. I saw a picture of someone sitting on their seat and took a picture of the controls. I swear the first thing that popped in my mind was "ground control to major tom"
  8. And bolts. Whats the best thing to loosen rusted and frozen nut and bolts?? I use Parts Blaster. Is there anything better? Other things get frozen sitting on ground trying to replace wheel bearing in this weather.
  9. A little while ago, just after completing the install of a power-amp in the trunk, I got to wondering what it would look like to line the inside of the trunk and make it look like the inside of the trunk of a car. So, I asked a friend of mine who used to build custom speakers boxes if he had any old speaker-cloth sitting around. He did and he provided me with a few yards for this project. The attached pictures are the result. What do you think? Pete.
  10. Well after 3 days of Snow, and sitting in the house, and sending me to the Store. Wife just could not take it anymore, She Just had to go Shopping !!! Just got back from 6 hours of dropping her off at store after store, and sitting in the Warm Car, in parking lot reading magazines!!! An Entire Day!!! Wasted ---------- Did not get even one thing Fixed Today !!!
  11. I ask for opinions & got a few. So here goes. Wife says she won't ride with me if I'm pulling it. Boy, pulling a trailer all the time might get old. Axle is now narrowed and under it. Fender just sitting there to see if that's what I really want to do. Tail lights & turn signals. Tails a little bigger than I'd like but gotta stay legal. Stay tuned.
  12. I do not know what the heck i did........but....... windows xp wont start......i get the screen with safe mode..last good config..etc to choose from.........but......none of them work......puter just keeps trying to reboot up. I F8 'd and choose to not reboot at start up or something like that it says to try to get an error message....... what i got was. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME Im stumped......and no i do not have a cd to reboot from..my system has it all in it and for some reason I cant work around the problem this time and get going. Now i did install a program that BuddyRich had mentioned to someone called " Advanced Windows care from www.iobit.com Its free and will clean up a lot of registry problems. " I ran it and was done with the scan and was cleaning up stuff when it kind of froze so after sitting and sitting i shut down the puter and this is where i am....... thank good ness we have the old puter for Haylie.........sloooooow but works... is there anything i can do to at least get in to safe mode and restore my last good config.....i did do a restore point before i ran the scan
  13. The bike starts getting warm and overheating when in traffic or sitting still idleing. When I'm moving the temp quickly goes back to normal temp but will start getting hot again while sitting at a light. I don't think the Radiator fan is coming on what should I check for?
  14. Well folks, same as many of you, I've patiently awaited the introduction of the new '09 RSV. I said all along that the ONLY difference for '09 would be the color. I think that many of us felt that would be the case but I DO expect to see something new for 2010. What will it be? Who knows. At any rate, most of you know that I've been thinking about a new bike for some time now so today I finally bit the bullet and can happily say that it is sitting in my garage. Brand new 2008 model. Black/Silver. And with that, I will leave you all to speculate. As for me, I'm going for a little ride. More info and pictures later this evening.
  15. In the few short weeks I've been a member here, I've learned about many things I previously never knew regarding my Venture. Included in that category are items which make the trip more comfortable. A few days ago, I read a thread about seat covers in this Bike Accessories section. I happened to be near my local IKEA yesterday and went in to take a look at the sheepskin pelts talked about in the previous thread. They have two sizes and two colors (white and gray). The larger size is $40 and the smaller is $20. The larger size is the perfect fit to cover the venture seat, front to back and perfectly drapes over the sides just enough. I took off the top bracket of my Utopia backrest and made measurements for a slit. A few seconds later after a slit from an exacto knife, the base nub of the backrest poked through and I re-attached the top. Looks good. In the back, I tucked the couple of inches of leftover material between the seat and the trunk. Seems nice and tight. Between me sitting on it, the backrest keeping it in place, tucking it in and either luggage or my girlfriend sitting on the rear seat, I think it's pretty secure. I am heading out for a ride shortly and I'll let you know if I notice an increase in comfort and how well it worked.
  16. After 5 hours of brake bleeding, battery cable change-outs, etc. last night---ending at 2am, got up this morning, looked her over and went "Self-it's time to see what she's got". First thing I learned that without a windshield, you gots to have a helmet on!!!!! Had to take my glasses off because of the wind, but at 65 you still can't see!!!! Got the helmet, took off around the corner, got in the straights, and lit it up!!!!!!! Absolutely smooth thru the power, only took it up to 6k on the tach for right now, NO problems with several hard runs thru 2nd gear, extremely smooth ride up to 85 mph. Gonna have my neighbor check the synch, then start putting her clothes back on!!!! BTW, sitting in my neighbors driveway, what rode by but a beautiful new Black Cherry RSV!!!!! Chased him down (didn't take long). Come to find out, he's always ridden a Venture (84, 87, 89 and a 99)!!! He didn't know about the website, so look for another Central In. rider to appear on here!!!!!! Time to get back to work!!!! Dan
  17. I have a 96 royal Star, it has been sitting for abut 2 years, I changed the oil and rad. fluid. Went over the bike, everything is tight and works properly. What else should I do? I noticed that my petcock is leaking, does anyone make an after market one for it? Thanks
  18. Was down in Bacliff Tx. today and was leaving "Noah's Arc" restaurant when I saw an '05 Liquid Silver looking like it was gonna pull in. Went on and lo and behold, it passed me going north on 146 as I was sitting in the left turn lane for hiway 96. Anyone of us??? Don H.
  19. Is there any way to move, extend or modify the passenger floorboards? I'm fine riding solo but when my wife is on and we come to a stop i'm getting whacked in the back of my calves with her boots. She's tried sitting pigeon toed and the foot boards still make contact. Any sugestions other than riding solo?
  20. I was browsing around London Drugs yesterday ... lotta stuff on sale ... came across this ... http://store.xmfanstore.com/xpress.html Regular price $99 .... on sale for $29.95 !! Did I buy it... you betcha! ... Works great and looks good sitting there on my scoot. Anyone have experience with this product? I hope it's not some kinda DUD.
  21. Does anyone have a spare fast forward/rewind button off a 1st gen VR cassette unit? It appears someone decided they needed the button worse than I when I parked at WallyWorld yesterday. Probably just some kids exploring, but man it ticks me off that they cant leave well enuff alone. Let me know how much you asking for it and how we can work out payment. I could just buy another radio unit, but I really dont need more motorcycle stuff sitting around here. Thanks, Brian
  22. My CRS is getting bad, I want to swap my '86 VR's suspension over to the standard set up. I can't stand the CLASS system on these 20+ YO bikes as they are too fickle. I want to change over to the manual valve system for airing the shocks up. If anyone has an old 1200 sitting around that they use for parts and has both the front and rear schrader setups, please get ahold of me and we can do some dealing....Thanks
  23. Not sure what my problem is, but I really can't hear much from the headsets on the highway...stereo or CB. I hear something but is usually so garbled I can't tell. I am better off to use the built in speakers on the dash to hear anything. Is this because of the headsets or what? I just bought the bike recently, and it doesn't matter what set I use the results are the same. By the way, I can hear music/CB when just sitting or even when bike is idling, but it seems to real tinny. Would it be worth my while to wire in a new pair of earphones from say a radio or tapeplayer or such? Thanks.
  24. I got up this morning thinking about just maybe. Nice sunny afternoon 70 degree's but. The creek is up and muddy. Sitting here listening to hogs vibrating the windows as they go bye. So how was your ride?
  25. Well, The Bike has been sitting for about 4 months now through this long long Iowa Winter. I did get a chance to change the plugs , oil , yadda yadda yadda..... Oh I took a 10 mile ride yesterday! *WOW* Still lots of sand and real bad holes in the roads. As some of you know about 1.5 years ago my Radiator had a pin hole in it and I got it welded. and it has been fine until today.. now I notice wetting right at the lip on the bottom of the radiator.. not sure why after sitting for FOUR Months now it decides to leak? anyways unless you guys can figure why it is leaking again.. I am going to order a new one ANY SUGGESTIONS???? where? what to pay? ect... Thanks for any input. AND if I do install a new one I will write another how to remove the RSV Radiator! Jeff
