1. How easy is it to remove the seat on a 2003 venture...i want to run my wires for my led's under there?
2. So, you guys are pretty knowledgeable, i thought i would ask here. if this is too far off topic, feel free to delete it, and i appoligize in advance. I got a free john deere sx95 mower, with a 38'' deck. the problem i have is, the PO took it apart for some unknown reason because it didn't run. well, it didn't run because he didn't have some connectors actually.. you know.. connected. so anyhow. the problem is, I don't know how to route the new belt i have. it's on there how it seems to need to be, but the tensioner isn't functioning properly or something, because it's not tight enough. i've looked at JDparts.com but the overall setup is still sort of vague. I was hoping somone here might have this mower that would be willing to take a pic if the tensoner(s) setup? i would be eternally grateful. thanks in advance. - Jared
3. I know , I know ya think I am crazy . Anyways, I got this project finished today. I now can run both Odyssey Battery's at the same time or run one at a time with my Big Perko Switch! The Odyssey in the trunk is the 680 a little larger, I also am going to put my cell charger and some other stuff to power off of the trunk battery. I can charge both at the same time or one at a time. OR run BOTH at 12 volts at the same time now. I still have to put a rubber cover over the positive side input though. I also can use it as a back-up Battery as well Anyways here are the pics. Jeff (the thing behind the Perko Switch is my AMP that I installed about 3 years ago)
4. Anybody know if any companies are making Run Flat tires for the RSV? I couldn't find any on the web.
5. Two friends got hit from behind while stopped at traffic lights. One was hit at fifty mph, the girl was talking on the cell phone and did not brake before she hit him. The other was hit at slow speed but fled the seen. He was caught a mile away, no insurance and hit a run, maybe he might have learned a lesson about hit & run. Both friends are alright. tew47
6. I have an 83 sitting around, and last weekend I ran into an old friend who has an old VW microbus in the back yard with a 1600. How do ya suppose a VR/VW trike would look? Who do ya suppose you would talk to to make the fiberglass bodywork? I wonder how I could run the shift linkage.
7. I worked for 2 hours this evening rerouting the stream behind the house. The culvert is completely plugged and covered. The last flood I had a foot of water under my house from the hillside run off.Recently water has been flowing into the back yard and pooling where my septic field is.I took the FEL and cut a 4 ft wide channel across the dirt road and back into the original stream path. Were anticipating 2 inches of rain over the next day or so and the ground is saturated now. That private drive behind my house is no longer maintained by anyone and the road is a real mess. A two foot deep channel has been bringing the run off my way for almost a year. My neighbor stopped by after I was done and said you know your loosing your foot bridge tonight. It seems the neighborhood A$$#%#@^ pushed a 7ft wooden school bus shed over the hill into the creek just above my bridge last night. So tonight when the flood comes we may loose the foot bridge. Last time it was taken out a upstream chicken house done it. Guess we will see what happens in the morning. This much I know NO RIDING ANYTIME SOON.
8. Hey guys see alot of post aboout air preasure in front forks but cant find why its bad to run more than 7lbs anyone care to explain thanks
9. This is my day to work on this bike. It is new to me, an 86 with 20,000 miles. When I picked it up, it wouldn't idle without choke, but ran pretty good on the road without choke. I just replaced the 4 diaphrams and did the 2 ss washer mod on the needles. 1 of the diaphragms was completely seperated from the slide and all had a few holes. Now the bike will not run without choke and if I rev it it wants to die. Will not stay running without choke and backfires a little while running. I have to adjust the idle with the choke. Seems like its running too lean. Trying to synch the carbs but can't get it to go without the choke. The indicators on the carbtune are moving but don't seem to be too high up on the gauge. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kevin
10. 08 venture Where can I tap in to get a hot lead that goes off with the switch to run the relay for my driving lights. No not the head light. on off with the togal switch & off with the key? thanks!
11. We all run over something once in awhile, but usually will stop when it's safe and check the vehicle out.....especially if it starts to run a little different. A woman ran over a mattress but was in too much of a hurry to stop. The mattress got caught underneath and started what she described as a "slight driveline shimmy at high speeds". She still didn't stop until it caused a hole in the fuel tank. THAT is what caused the vehicle to stop. The tow truck driver looked underneath and this is what they saw when they got it on the lift at the shop...........I wonder what a BIG shimmy would feel like? 12. I am about to change the oil in my 87 Venture Royale and am looking on some advice on the best oil to use. Also since the bike has 74k miles on it, is it good to run any oil treatments or something along those lines in it? Any advice would be appreciated.
13. I ran acrossed an article about hearing loss, and it's relation to motorcycles, that I found very interesting. There wasn't any online availibility of the article so I did a Google, and found this: http://www.freehearingtest.com/hia_motorcyclefacts.shtml I would have never thought that helmet wind noise could be so damaging over the long run. I'm going to pick up a box of those foam ear plugs. I'm deaf enough already.....
14. Saturday I was on the RSV and followed my nephew to drop his tractor to be worked on. I offered him a ride home on the back of the bike. I'm right at 300lbs and he can't be much lighter plus about 50lbs of "stuff" in the bags and trunk. I'm sure some of you do this every day but other than being a little slow on the get up and go it actually felt ok. Got me to thinking... how many run with that kind of weight often?
15. Just installed a volt meter, water temp gauge and tach so I thought I would post a few pics. I still have some clean-up of the install to do and finish putting the bike together. I removed the ignition switch and replaced it with a much smaller one in the seat pan facing backwards just over the rear shock schrader valve. I made the gauge pod with fiberglass and bondo. Painted it with bed liner. The temp sending unit and tach signal come from cylinder four. I removed the coolant plug and drilled and tapped it to fit the 1/8th" sending unit. The tach signal comes from the negative side of cylinder 4 coil. Power to the gauges comes from the positive side of the coil. Made for a nice neat cable run. The gauge lights are run off a switch on the front brake reservoir along with the driving lights. I removed the front right speaker to install the tach. I don't use the speakers so it won't be missed.
16. I need some expert advise on amps and AMH Rating.. I want to use a winch thats says not to use a battery with less 12 AMHTo run it.. Now I have the Pyramid regulated power supply that has a constant 12 AMP Rating. So will this run that Winch? Hope this makes since *lol* Thanks, Jeff
17. A buddy of mine is heading to Indy this week and mentioned there was a nice MC store there. He couldn't recall the name. Apparently, it is like the Iron Pony (Columbus, OH), but not quite as big. Can anyone in the Indy area help with the name of this place. I know this request is rather generic and may not include enough info. However, I thought I would run it up the flagpole and see if anyone knows. Thanks. RR
18. I'm thinking I have a main switch thay may be heading south. Over the weekend, I found a dead spot in the "on" position that kills everything dead if the switch is wiggled while in the "run" position. I have the manual, but see nothing about R&Ring the switch. Anyone got a procedure for removing and cleaning the switch? Thanks.
19. Well, My New trailer should be here between 10 - Noon today:thumbsup: Just go thru installing my hitch. Gonna start on the lights shortly, but got to make a run for a couple things. The trailer needs some assembly 60 to 90 minutes, which means it will take me to 8 tonight:rotf: I'll post pictures later.
20. I've just been checking out the "Run For The Wall" http://www.rftw.org/index.asp?lg=1&w=pages&r=-1&pid=0 website. I was wondering if any of the Venture Riders group has considered doing this ride? Any of ya'll especially in So. Texas , East Texas , Ok., or La.? It is a long ride but a important statement can be made by participation. Just a thought.

23. I just went through our office managers PC. Installed all the latest Microsoft updates,AVG antivirus update,Spyware/Malware scan and reg clean, HDD defrag, and upgraded her ram. The machine has been running excellent for a week. I came back this evening and after she opened an email from another employee ZAP. All crap breaks loose. The Firewall is turned off,Windows update disabled,Antivirus disabled, Internet explorer won't run, and we can't connect to the internet. It does boot up normal but that is about it. I tried a system restore to a previous point but it won't allow that either. I think a bad virus has grabed it but I'll run a hdd utility in the morning. ANY Ideas or similar experiences?
