This is everyday driving in Louisville

I put some E3s on last summer. They have about 9,000 miles on them now and still ride and look great.

There are many factors in insurance costs: location, driving records, riding classes. After reading a few posts about problems with Progressive, I checked with Allstate. We have auto and home with them. I was paying $398 for 07 RSV and 06 VStar: 50/100/25, 10,000 uninsured, 250 deduct on 06, 500 deduct on RSV, no medical. Allstate agent got me 50/100/50, 10,000 uninsured, no medical and 250 deductables for everything, and towing too. And only cost me $403 at Allstate. So long Progressive.

Everyone being different, I ride in the mid-30s with flannel lined pants, chaps, t-shirt, hoodie, leather jacket and gloves. Myself, heated gloves would be the only heated equip I would use. My in-laws rode their Harley Ultras up there several years ago. They had side cars and took spare rear tires and had/needed them changed when they got to either Anchorage or Fairbanks. Don't rely on being able to find the tire you need up there.

buying 07 need advice
Jethroish replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am 6' and 210 lbs. I use near identical pressures as others: 3-4psi in the front and 32-35 in the rear. tires? I run those at or 1-2psi less than stamped on sidewall. -
Just got some led accent light. Six small srtips of 5 or 6 lights per strip. 1. is it best to put them on their own on/off switch or jsut wire them into the running lights? 2. wire them up in parrallel or series (after an inline fuse of course)? For under the trunk, I was just going to tie 2 of them into the led tail light. Then 2 under the tank, one just above the radiator and maybe the last under the seat above the side covers.

This was addressed in the 1st gen folder, but decided to put it here since it is happening with my 07. Tonight after I got home from work, I noticed a slight "rumble" noise when I pulled in the garage when I put it in neutral and let the clutch lever out. Did not sound like throwout bearings. Only hear it when in neutral without the clutch engaged. No slipping, shifts normally, but it is just loud enought that the wife even heard it. If I take it to the stealer, are they going to tell me to pay because clutch is a wear item and not covered? Bike is only 2 years old with 21,000 miles.

Time for an intervention. I'll take the bike. Some one else can get his computer

My dad just had a claim on his van for hitting something in the road. His insurance agent (long time friend) told them that the new thing is, if what you hit was staionary in the raod, and you faild to avoid it, it's your fault, ie. not covered. If it was airborne or moving in such a way as there was no avoiding it, then it is covered. I would have to call BS on that. If my choice was to hit a board in the road or swerve and take out a family of 4 or roll my car, I'm taking my chances with the board. Insurance companies are getting so bad.

Gld to hear you are ok. Years ago, when I still lived in Michigan, going through Flint, some one lost a washing maching off of a trailer in the middle of I-475. A guy in a Fiero hit it and about 60 mph. He walked awya, but I would say the washing machine won.

Rode to work this morning. When I left work saw lots of bikes, including a 2006 Black Cherry RSV at UPS in Louisville and a Midnight RSV across the river in Jeffersonville, IN.

Better check your bolts!

Found the same thing on my 07 last year. Saddlebag hinge bolts were almost completely out. -
Planning a west/central Indiana ride - input needed.

If you have time, detour east from Spencer on 46 trhough Bloomington to Nashville. Hwy 135, south to 58, then west to 450 and then back over to 231. Nashville is a nice little town where several hundred (or more) bikes can be found on any nice weekend. Hwy 135 is an absolutely beautiful ride. On hwy 58, in the very small town of Kurtz, is 58 Cafe. Good food and biker friendly. And another great road. When do you plan on doing this? We had a M&E at 58 Cafe last year. Maybe we could plan another? -
CONGRATS! Not only a nice bike but very low milage. Can't wait for the pics.

Donlop tire question
Jethroish replied to Quicksilver's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine says 150/80-16 on the front, just like it shows on Dunlop's site. Got it from SWMoto Tires. -
Congrats, next week. Owned mine 2 years and 3 weeks. Bought it with less than 1 mile. Watched them uncrate it and assemble it. Never been on this big of a bike before and I rode it home 100 miles. It now has 21,000 miles.

How about when you log in, a list or (probably shorter) a link to show a list of your friends for easier PMing. If this is already on here, I missed it. Bronson

I was going to do a search about this because mine also groans a lot. I just took it to be common place.

And they wonder why they lose business.

It should not, but... to be safe, I used the mounting brackets of my overhead garage door opener. If you have a set of tie down straps go from the handlebars to the ceiling brackets to help stabilize the bike. Worked fine for me.

I was using Mobil1 MC oil until last week's oil change. After much reading here, I put in Rotella Synthetic (blue bottle). I was paying about $8.50 per qt of Mobil ($34 for and oil change). I got the gallon of Rotella around $20 I use Wix or NapaGold filters. They are a little pricier than Fram or SuperTech, but I don't mind the extra $2.
