Wish I were still in Okla to take you up on the ride offer. In the 12 years we lived in in Tulsa (Glenpool), we never got down that way Welcom to the boards.

I'm involved. Just the other day, I made a lady aware she almost ran me into the center concrete devider on the interstate. I did wave to her and tell her I thought she was the #1 driver on the road.

After reading the original "Progressive" story, I began shopping for another insurance carrier. Suprisingly, Allstate was $45 cheaper with better coverage. I now have 2 bikes insured for $348/year. I will say, Allstate also has my autos, home, and camper insurance. Can you say "multi-policy discount?" I have also heard (from a dealer service dept.) that when Progessive does fix a bike, they try to use as many used parts as possible and fix what can ve fixed rather than replace parts (ie. straighten swing arm instead of replace.)

I have seen those carriers used on ght back of motorhomes. I would think if you were going to go with something like that, it should be mounted on the rear of the trailer and the trailer equiped with an equalizer hitch, then load the trailer as tongue heavy as you could. Personally, I would not use that set up, but... I am guessing that your Chevy is a short bed? Otherwise, put the Venture in the truck. For the price, I would think a better option would be a small utility trailer pulled behind the camper; HOWEVER, some states do not allow pulling double unless the front trailer is fifth wheel.

Kuryakyn Iso Pegs?
Jethroish replied to naturbar's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Used the 1" clamps on my Venture. On another bike, I had th 1 1/4" clamps and 1" bar. I had some rubber gasket material so I cut it to wrap the bar with before putting the clamp on. Never had a problem with slipping. I would bet the 1" quick clamps will work just fine. -
GAS mileage question
Jethroish replied to knifeeven's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have done NOTHING to my bike, mechanically. I have 22k miles....original plugs, air filter, fuel filter. Have not yet synced carbs. I change oil and filter regularly and do not ride aggressively. I am getting 42-45mpg riding 60 miles round trip a day to work at 60mph. 32mpg, to me, seems very bad. -
That is great news. Hopefully kitty is no worse for the wear.

Sealing final drive mating surfaces
Jethroish replied to Jinksy4's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Don't recall that I put any sealant on. I agree that if you want to put some on, use a light coat of RTV -
Hope that your daughter's cat returns.

If you are reinstalling the end weights, there is no need for glue.

I have 9000 +/- miles on my E3 in about 10 months. Still looks good.
-
If you don't get a new tire before next weekend, take a look at my E3.

Same here, 13,700 on my OEM 404 rear. Probably could have gotten to 15,000 without a problem.

Some great Ideas, Eck. I will gladly pass on any donated $$ to Don form the IN-KY-OH M&E on April 25 (yep, cheap plug). No donation required, but any $$ will be passed on.

Boy, I can see this thread getting ugly. I will say that I understand both side of the arguement. To require $ to access does not directly encourage new members. However, and a regular user, I have no problem paying. Maybe a compromise such as allowing non-paid members to view only the General message folder. Hopefully they will then realize the wealth of knowledge and deep friendships that exsist here. Just my 2 bits.

Kuryakyn ISO grips and end weights
Jethroish replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
My fix was, I went to Home Depot and got some large lock washers. Take the end weight to make sure the inner diameter of the washer is large enough. Ended up though that I had to grind down the washers so that they fit inside the grip (if that makes sense). I was able to tighten them down without restricting the throttle at all. -
Well after I posted, I thought it did not look right. Should be "sight" not "site." Oh well. I were not a English major.

BTW, I saw a 1st gen (red and black) on west hwy 62 in Jeffersonville, IN yesterday

Good idea? Bad idea?

Mine is Red.

Have not heard of that company, but is it something like my picture? Got mine from DiamondRAccessories.com. Very easy to install. You will need about 2 feet of extra wire, but light works great. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpgimage.php?do=full&p=3522&d=1198461690

the one good thing about the oil filter on the 650s is that you do not have to loosen the exhaust at all.
