Successful carb sync
Jethroish replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
:innocent: I used an 8" common. -
That is great! No more dragging on. Hopefully some fellow inmates will find out what he did. His kind are not well accepted in the prison system.

Borrowed a Carbtune from VR member Magnum and did a sync tonight. Once I figured out (read the post properly) that I had to do the initial sync-ing from the right side of the bike THEN the left side, it was a piece of cake. I did not have a tach, so I sync-ed the carbs all to 240mmHg. Bike was idling fine, but I tweaked it down a little to bring the carbs up to about 260mmHg. Thanks to Freebird and Kbran to the great posts in the Tech section. Bronson

Pretty much because you can. Kaw claims that the Voyager was planned first. Then they released the 1700 Vulcan based on knowing that this new Vulcan Voyager was next. So yes, the parts on the Voyager were made to simply add them to the Vulcan.

How many miles are on the plugs you are changing? Just curious because over the weekend, I checked plugs in my 2007 RSV, with 24,000 miles and they still have the right color to them, are still within gap tolerance, and the bike runs fine.

Mine has made this groaning noise since new. It is more prevalent in colder temps. Not a drop of oil.

Been telling my wife that I want to head over to Sikeston some time to eat there. Been to the Lambert's in Ozark a few time when we lived in Tulsa. Great food.

Looking for a Speedo Healer. I have seen a few on Ebay. Manufacturer web page lists at $109. I see many on Ebay for $109. Are they cheaper at any dealers? I have checked Barons, BikerHiway, and CruiserCustomizing and none of them list a speedo healer. Calsportbikes.com is the only place I can find it.

Got it hooked up. Had to stare at it a little bit and read the directions 5 or 6 times before it really was clear to me. The skematic they provide is a little misleading. I had to draw my own before I began cutting wires. I did not wire in the load equalizer. My signals now blink a little faster, but you can tell they are blinking. The only noticably odd thing is, when the blinking signal is turned off, there is no light for a second or less while the unit prcesses it back to a tail light. I was not immediately able to find red bulbs for the turn lenses, but Auto Zone has these neat little red rubbery light covers. I put them over the stock amber light bulbs. You cannot tell that they are not red lights. I will redraw my diagram later and add it here. If anyone need s help installing one of these tail light convertors, I will be gald to help.

Wife got me the Tri-Star XP brake light conversion. Over the years, I have done my share of wiring in radios, speakers, and accessories in vehicles. I have rewired trailers and such, so I am not "scared" to tackle this, but it looks a little involved. 1. Am I going to need addtional wiring? Does not look like there is enough included. 2. Is the load equalizer needed on an RSV?

Did not notice the width of the front tire, but love these E3s. Got 10k miles on them now and they still look good.

I see in previous posts (2 years old) that there is a way to put exhaust tips on the stock RSV mufflers, but I do not see any pictures. I took cut the inside cone out of the end of the exhaust pipes then drilled the last baffle wall. I am happy with the sound, but not so much the look. Temp fix is I will get some hi-heat silver paint.

Great Southern Indiana ride...lost passenger control button
Jethroish replied to Jethroish's topic in Watering Hole
I looked at it. It appears that the button is nothing more than an small metric screw with a plastic head. And for that Yama wants $13. And you know it, I'll pay it. -
Great day to ride today. Rode hwy 62 west from NewAlbany, IN to St Croix. Had an early dinner at The Overlook. Great road. Used a lot of tread off the sides of the tires. The E3s held the road great. Just before we got home, Wife says to me, "Is there a knob missing here?" Ugh! The passenger push-to-talk is gone. Saw 4 or 5 RSV.

I started using the Rotella Synthetic (blue bottle). I am happy with it.

Royal Star Venture questions......
Jethroish replied to tibadoe's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Not to be the rain drop on the parade.... The 2 cons I have (btw are EASILY remedied) are the lack of standard rear lighting and the crappy tires. Plan to put on new tires by 10,000 (+/-) miles. Everything else about this bike is great. I have 23,000 maintenance free miles on my 07. Change oil regularly, add gas and ride. I would suspect FI next year and that should increase mpg, which for many is 40mpg + -
Pulled the front pads. they are still about 50%. Did not realize I used the rear brake that much, but I am guessing that 23,000 miles is pretty good.

Thursday night going to work, a 2009 pulled onto the road right behind me and we were together about 8 miles. Then Friday evening, saw a midnight southbound on I65 around Seymour, IN. Saturday, my wife and I went to Austin's in Louisville for dinner. When we came out, there sat a Silver RSV with the license plate "CHESER" Sunday morning after church, saw a canary yellow RSV trike in Jeffersonville, IN. I made up some "cards" with the VentureRider.org logo on the upper left of the page. Anyone got a businees style card for the site I can print off?

Went for a nice ride today. Daughter rode with me, wife on her bike and the neighbors joined us. Had to get on the brakes hard once and noticed the pedal pulsing under my foot so I tried to stay off the rear brake. Got home and removed the rear caliper. The inside pad was down to the metal. 23,000 on these original pads. Is that good, bad, average? So of course this has to occur after all dealers are closed, on a holiday weekend. can't do anything until Tuesday. I hope it rains for the next few days.

Dealer is wrong and they know it. They were hoping you would not realize the truth. Call Yama. Do not take "no" for an anwser from some one who is not allowed to say "yes."
