Getting bike from Ohio to Florida. ??

It must be one heck of a deal to make it worth paying for a transporter, and it not costing more than just buying one already in your area. -
Where is the best place to see Redwoods in N. California?
hig4s replied to Midrsv's topic in Watering Hole
Some of the Tallest trees are at Humboldt Redwoods state park in Humboldt county and some of the largest in volume are in Jebediah Smith Redwoods state park in Del Norte County, the two Northern most counties. on the coast. But some of the oldest are at Big Basin park just South of San Jose. If you are coming from the South along the coast on PCH, you just turn right on US9 and you go right through it. Years back we started in San Diego, drove up the coast, through Big Basin and ended in San Jose. I have never made it to the biggest or tallest, but trees in Big Basin were so tall I doubt I could tell the difference if I saw a taller tree in person. The ones at Big Basin were so tall they just seemed to disappear out of sight.- 23 replies

They already have a V-max, a couple of mounting brackets for existing Yamaha bags and fairing wouldn't cost that much.. What would cost is the entire redesign of the electrical system to add all the high tech stuff full dress buyers want.. And that would be the same on Strat or V-max. Besides that, from what I have heard, they have already designed the new Venture based on the Vmax, but due to the economy just cannot get the OK from the company's president to start production.
-
I call BS,,, the new V-max is fuel injected. The difference in cost for retooling to build a full dress bike base on it would be minimally different from making a full dress bike based one one of the twins. If they switch to a twin dresser is will be for one reason only, they think they would sell more twins and make more money.

I think they just mount the handlebars high, I believe rolling them back would make them similar to the RSV.. The shifter is a two piece so the front and back can be adjusted independently or the back removed totally.. I really like it, but after thinking about it more, it is just not enough better than my current RSV to take a the loss in resale and buy a new HD. If I were in the market for the first time, I might get the current RG over the current RSV, not that big a difference in price new.

That is what I did to mine, got a 6ft coiled 5 pin DIN (old school key board) cable off Ebay for about $6 and plugged it into the connector on the side, ran it under and up to the front of the passenger seat and now store the end and the extra cable in the pouch on the back of my Utopia back rest. The wife just pulls it out and plugs it in right there in front of her after she is on the bike. Can't find a coiled one at the moment, but here is a straight 6ft [ame=http://cgi.ebay.com/Keyboard-Extension-Cable-6-Ft-5Pin-DIN-M-F-/350040836989?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51800f4b7d]AT Keyboard Extension Cable 6 Ft 5Pin DIN M-F | eBay[/ame]

It isn't the wind noise through the mic, as I have an in line control and can shut the mic completely off and the noise is still there. It is not the ignition noise, as I have had that too and corrected it. This is just a high frequency hiss that is there even when the engine is not running. did have one bad cable from J&M that would cut in and out, but have already replaced that. I starting to believe that it is there in all the intercoms and very few people can hear high enough frequencies to notice it.

That has been around awhile,, I think it was Sturgis a few years ago... If you look closely at the shadow, it appears the deer actually jumped just behind the bike. Not sure the rider ever saw the deer.

Hmmm, very interesting.. I may have to start avoiding 5th to see if my mileage goes up. Don't have a tach, so I can't help with that. I know I did the that same experiment with my Jeep Wrangler, did a whole tank keeping the revs under 2000, a whole tank at 2500, and a whole tank reving to 3000. Got 15.5 all three tanks. Doh!!

Went and test road an HD Road Glide Ultra today.. Nice bike, might be my next bike. Wind noise a little better than the RSV, engine noise about the same volume but less whiny, stereo way better, completely clear at 70mph. The seat and ergonomics were about the same as the RSV. The 103 engine has about the same hp as the RSV and more torque, yet comes with a 6 speed trans, seemed you could chose between three gears at any given speed. The handle bars were up too much for me, but just rotating them down should correct that, I don't think I would need different bars. There was a tiny bit of turbulence with the stock screen, but then is was short enough to look over, and even the stock RSV screen was taller than that, if I bent down a little and looked through the turbulence went away, so a different screen should correct that. I won't actually get serious about deciding whether to change bikes or not until next year when the warranty runs out on the RSV, but right now I have test ridden every brand touring bike except the Kawasaki Voyager, and the new BMW 1600GTL. Of the bikes I've ridden the only one I would consider replacing the RSV so far is the Ultra.

Egads, Brickstones! You didn't have enough of them with the OEM rocks? If you stick with the 130 when you go to the E3s, I doubt you will have the same issue with them.

What brand tire? I have the smaller Avon and have not experienced any squirmy-ness at all on the freeway.
-
I have switched my RSV to the smaller front tire, and I felt the Vision was definitely handled heavier than the RSV and the CC not much better. Do you still have the stock size tire on the front of your RSTD, the smaller front tire and/or leveling links make the RS handle much better.
-
I test rode a Victory Vision, and a Victory Cross Country today. The stereo was better on both bikes then on my RSV, seat comfort was good on both, a little better on the Vision but lower on the CC. Handle bar bend seemed funny and bothered my wrists. Vision had turbulence around my helmet even with the screen all the way up. And the Cross Country turbulence was terrible. I never had and turbulence around my helmet on the RSV, even when it had the stock windscreen. Vision seemed very heavy both slow and at speed. Surprisingly the CC was much lighter and more nimble, I thought they had the same frame? FI is nice, engine has lots of torque. But overall, not as good as what I have.

Snow? SNOW? I'm trying to remember but it just isn't coming back!!

I use a small Joe Rocket Manta tank bag, had problems with it staying at first, but after I removed the rubber bib from the tank, no problems.. Have used magnetic bags for years on several bikes, they have never scratched my tanks. I have manage to scratch several tanks myself, but not with the magnetic tank bags.

I put the switch in so I can turn them off if the LEOs don't like them, other than that they are on all the time.. The issue is that there are a few states where it is illegal to run passing lamps with high beams, and one or two where it is illegal to run auxiliary lamps with low beams. It all depends on the state, and whether the LEO decides they are passing lamps, driving lamps, auxiliary lamps, meeting lamps, or some other lamps. Go figure.

I don't really care to see the Ebay/Craigs list post when I search for new posts, but when I go to edit the ignore for new posts section of the CP, the ebay/Craigs list forum is not there to be ignored.

The federal budget failed to pass twice while I was in the military, both times pay was stopped until the budget finally passed. And yes, the politicians have passed laws over the years, that make sure politicians keep getting paid even when there is no budget.

I am on my 4th cell phone in 10 years, started with an old Nokia brick (which my wife still uses), then in 05 I got a motorola V-series flip phone with bluetooth, and then got an Android HTC G1 a little over a year ago, which had to be replaced in Dec, so I'm on my second G1.

Doesn't the 2000 have an air shock just like the RSV? And when I switched from Bridgestones to Avons, the ride got much better!!!
